Gamers weren't onboard with this this whole live service push, by killing Bluepoint they basically painted a target on every live service game they wish to make.
They'll target Marathon, they'll target Horizon, they'll target Faigame$ and so on. Not that wouldn't target them before, but now its pretty damn personal for some people.
@themightyant Layden and Shuhei once said that while studios are free to pitch their ideas, sometimes Sony nudges them in one direction that they feel it will benefit the company as a whole. They would often negotiate to reach a compromise between what the studio wanted and what Sony needed at the time, find a way where everyone would benefit.
Personally I don't think Hulst is doing the negotiation part, maybe its why his tenure is the one that closed more studios than any other one before him.
@CutchuSlow Not really, the most effective thing you could do is make sure Marathon, every other live service game from Sony and every other Horizon title flop.
Y'know, destroy everything Hermen built type of stuff.
@AverageGamer He closed more studios in five years than Sony did over twenty five years. He pushed for live service games no one asked for. He keeps pushing Horizon despite the fact it doesn't sell. He went on a buying spree that has yet to bear any kind of result.
Hulst landed his ass up in a position he clearly don't belong, he doesn't know how to manage nor he does understand the public.
Shuhei Yoshida did a better job and the guy assumed when the PS3 was at its lowest and still managed to make it work.
@AverageGamer Hulst is still the head of Playstation Studios, he's also the one who is pushing live services down everyone's throat, which led to the demise of Bluepoint.
So yeah, its his sole fault. It has been his sole fault even before Nishino became CEO.
Look, gotta be honest here, maintaining a site like that isn't even hard, if they can't do the barest minimum how can one hope they gonna fix the game or deliver what they are promising?
Increasing PS Plus seems like the obvious move, but we are also at a point where any more increases will push the customer away.
However increasing revenue from software and network can come in multiple ways, one "cheap" way is relaxing or facilitate for more games to come to PS Store, they did that back with Vita/PS3/Sony Ericsson and it was what allowed my old team to ship a game on Playstation. On the network side they could bundle a crunchyroll subscription alongside a PS Plus Deluxe.
@The_ghostmen tbh I don't remember, but pattern recognition says you can't change the mindset of a crowd once it leans towards a direction.
And the current mindset is: Marathon will flop. The funny thing is, everyone is pointing a different reason for why it will flop, but no one is denying that it will flop.
I care less about the minigame and more about if they'll censor the monsters and some outfits.
I can live without the minigame, you'll just lose an easter egg and some red orbs. But censoring the designs will take away the whole vibe this game has.
If it makes sense for them, they would release the PS6 today or tomorrow, or next month, or in 2077.
I get that its his job to analyze this kind of data, but pondering whether or not they'll delay the deployment of a new SKU when we are facing supply problems is kinda pointless.
Also, analysts are still questioning if Sony and Nintendo will raise the price of their consoles despite the fact both companies stated that they still have supplies for most of 2026.
No, this should be called out. Locking a key feature behind the entire main campaign is stupid and whoever thought it was a good idea deserves to be laid off.
I can understand locking the multiplayer until the player completes the tutorial, you want the player to understand how the game works before giving him total control. But this? This is stupid.
Not surprised, but I am surprised to see people saying that rumour about the last spot. I mean, those things costs money, lots of money, the chances of a game getting a spot like that for free are the same as the chances of raining catgirls next Friday.
@PuppetMaster I mean, dropping an announcement for a GoW remake during that anniversary would be like prime marketing material, but nowadays marking is all about promoting ugly chics, mtx, live services and other things people don't want instead of making the most of an opportunity to promote your brand by turning it into an memorable event.
I still remember the E3 reveal for God of War 2018, and that reveal will be 10 years old by June.
I mean, why would people want Concord 4 when the first two were already a flop? We've yet to see the third one but I don't think it will fare any better than other two.
Also, gotta laugh at the fact the only legacy Concord made was spawning a term for short lived live service games that no one asked for in the first place.
@Sakai Apparently the trailer was done using AI too, which isn't a problem in my book in itself but it might explain why people thought the trailer was off.
I can voice my opinion with just two words but one of them isn't allowed in this site, so I'll settle with "Hermen needs to go, no one wants more Horizon shoved down our throats".
Mind you this is mostly about what platforms are easier to publish and to advertise your game.
Xbox has been a nightmare ever since this gen came about, you have two consoles that are very different spec-wise, you have gamepass console, you have gamepass PC, you have xbox cloud and so on. Not only that but if you want to partake into the whole Xbox ecosystem you have to optmize your game for Series S, SeriesX, Gamepass console, Gamepass PC and Xbox Cloud.
So yeah, compared to Xbox releasing on PC, Switch and PS5 is pretty straightforward and advertising in them is easy as well.
That's why I look both critics and user reviews in order to see a game/movie is worth my time and money.
There's a certain pattern where if a game/movie is good both scores will be even. Then there's the outliers where critics rate a product good but users rate it bad, or critics rate it bad but users rate it good. Then I have to use this pretty little nice thing called common sense to rationalize why the score is like that, and it usually boils down to politics.
I don't care about the AI stuff itself, I care about how it is used. I mean, companies are going full in thinking they can use it for a final product when it has already been proved it doesn't work like that nor you should use it like that.
I really hope the outcome of this whole AI thing is entire sales, marketing, HR and upper management departments across the industry losing their stupid jobs for pushing this tool as a magic bullet to cut costs. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Oh Cygames, never apologize For anything, under any circunstances, for any reason. Apologies are a sign of weakness, a signal to other people that you are unable to stand up for yourself, your morals and your values, and can be pushed to a breaking point.
"However, this may stick in the craw of those who shelled out full-price for the game less than a year ago"
I don't know why that should be the case, other than paying full-price on a game that most people wouldn't even play without being paid, and even if they get paid they still wouldn't play it.
@Slayer25c No, because they caved in and apologized for using a tool. Imagine if Da Vinci had to apologize for using a chisel or a brush when doing his art...

How to handle spoilers and how to predict a plot by context clues and common tropes.
So yeah, basically immune to spoilers because a single class took away all enjoyment I could have while watching a movie/playing a game.
