People were just expecting something else. Me on the hand just love Sony took their time to remind us PS2 existed.
Anyways, while PS Plus is something good for that retro vibe, I kinda wish they had a FPGA PS2 disc drive that people could use on their PS5 to play some PS1/2/3 games. Even if that drive had a premium price tag.
I don't think Sony would get the rights for Batman:Arkham or Hogwarts Legacy because those are separate rights.
It is also the main reason why this is a tricky deal and why I think most companies will pass. Only Netherrealm has some value because acquiring them means you'll get Mortal Kombat.
I'm pretty sure I've heard that one before, February 5th 2020, when talking to The Verge Phil Spencer said their competition wasn't Sony or Nintendo, but rather Google and Amazon.
The reality is: Xbox biggest problem isn't an external one, its an internal one.
So, TLDR is basically, Xbox fooled around with company money, the bean counters found it and now they want it back with raging interest rates.
Its kinda ironic the downfall of Xbox, an arm of a trillion dollar company, isn't related to the quality of their services but rather from the money they borrowed from daddy.
@DennisReynolds EA literally made a press release on the official site as soon as monday came to celebrate the sales.
And yes, while companies aren't obliged to divulge sales numbers they quite often make these kind of celebratory posts when a game is doing good, which is what I complained about.
One case I can mention is Astro Bot, no celebratory posts were made for the game, when the Q2 2025 shareholder meeting came it was revealed the game sold 1.5 million copies over three months, which isn't an impressive number for the investment made but it made clear the IP has potential, mainly because over half of that number were people who were first time buyers.
As for Nintendo, they simply don't release data or celebrate their games outside things like one year anniversary or something similar.
Antiquated, yet it has been working for the industry over the last 40 years and it will work in the next 40, Xbox on the other hand might die in the next gen if they keep this stupid strategy up.
Not only people have no reason to buy Xbox hardware of ANY kind, they also don't have reason to buy into Microsoft ecosystem.
Also, Roblox, Fortnite, CoD and others only work because they are live service cross-platform community driven games. Remove even one of those components and they won't work anymore, it has nothing to do with platforms but rather with how much parasocial these games are.
It did so well Sucker Punch still refuses to tell us the numbers. Yet, EA was happy telling us how much BF6 sold in the first three days.
For me this reeks of AC Shadows levels of propaganda, AC Shadows sold well enough to justify making the game but it didn't sell as much as Ubisoft wanted or needed.
Mistakes were made in Yotei, mistakes that aren't related with the game itself, which is a pretty awesome game mind you, but rather how people perceive the game.
That's a nice way of saying it will be a pos hardware that no one will buy because its either way overpriced for the casual crowd or because your hardcore fans simply gave up, but ok, you do you.
Except it ain't a monopoly because most anime nowadays is made by committee, which means Aniplex can handle one job but not many jobs inside the same committee.
If Aniplex is handling home/international distribution, they can't handle the music side.
So, this became more of a branding lawsuit rather than a pure copyright one. Interesting, because that game does indeed infringe upon the image branding of Horizon.
@Fiendish-Beaver Actually, the main point is to train 343 team on how to use UE5.
They announced the change from Slipstream to UE5 a while ago, making a remake of Halo 1 is the best project they could have to train people since it is the most basic Halo on a technical level.
Selling this specific game on other platforms is just a side effect of learning the engine.
@Rich33 12TFlops is meaningless when your console is constrained by a RAM bottleneck, and turns out full RDNA2 just means access to full feature VRS, which doesn't mean much when most titles don't even use VRS in the first place.
@PuppetMaster Like I said, we got one of those for basically every big title released this year, usually the monday after the first weekend, mainly because studios get the data faster and more accurate than any third party site will.
The radio silence is what worries me, not what some people say on youtube.
@PuppetMaster Well, it has been a week and no official sales milestone post or anything like that appeared.
Usually those are good indicators if the game is on track or not. Selling less than GoT is expected, pandemic effect and all, but radio silence isn't a good signal.
So, are we talking about new releases or games in general? Because if it is new releases then yes, I agree, that most people don't buy new releases that often.
If it is games in general, than that number is dead wrong.
More reason to wait for the upgraded Black edition. Anyways, I do find distasteful when companies announce DLC before the proper release, be it day one or not.
At least wait a couple of weeks before you announce that, you could even combo that with a sales milestone announcement.
"It’ll use Game Pass as a Trojan horse for cloud gaming, and further price increases are coming."
That's a nice way of saying it will flop. Cloud gaming is rarely used outside US and some parts of European market, and even in those parts it represents less than 5% of market share.
Sure sure, would Mr. Patcher show us what stocks he has in his portfolio just to be sure he hasn't any horses in this race when said that bs? No? Yeah, thought so.
@Rich33 The game would be solid even without the performance problems, also the performance problems are the same we always have on consoles, which is some frame drops here and there when the show starts to get crazy. I won't even comment on stutter because that's a problem for any Unreal game ever since UE4 dropped almost a decade ago.
This is unlike PC, where the game could have been running on native 1080p/1440p without problems, but not even a xx80/90 card can do that. Imagine spending up to almost 4 grand on a machine and then $70 on a game that can't even run a stable 1080p@60 or 1440p@60 without using upscaling and frame generation? I would be beyond pissed.
@DreadfulDragon Not even remotely the same thing. While PoE and Bloodstained share the same aesthetic as Diablo and Castlevania they aren't similar enough as they do not share the same art nor the same artstyle.
It would be same as Konami seeking legal action against Tecmo because Ninja Gaiden (NES) had a similar UI and gameplay as Castlevania (NES) despite the two being two distinct products.
While the games listed share a concept or two with Horizon, none of the games share the same artstyle with eachother. They might share some gameplay elements inherent to the genre but that's it.
Light of Mortinsomething on the other hand does look a lot like Horizon on the art department.
I don't know, unlike Tsushima who got me in the first trailer this one isn't doing much to get my attention. It also feels that unlike Tsushima, marketing team isn't doing much to promote the game.
First trailer had me going meh, second one got my attention and then one released like couple weeks ago had me going meh again.
Not only that but the recent comments by a Sucker Punch colaborator who got fired also had me wondering about the quality of Yotei.
This reminds me of something I heard in a hardware forum, unlike the previous gen, this one had a lot of embedded custom tech. Sony SSD is custom and it might cost a lot to produce a 1TB version.
Next time they could go with a more off the shelf solution, like a M.2 or something.
This means they'll probably push live service the right way this time. And we are already seeing signs of this with Marvel Tokon.
@Oram77 People crave novelty without even knowing what it means, that's why they complain about "sequels being the same as the first game" even though its the way this industry has been ever since its inception.
They tried to pivot the strategy and went back to what was already working, nothing new here. Playstation isn't a multimedia brand, its a hardware brand.
But it is a reminder that most front-facing business owned by Sony aren't making money, besides Playstation that is. Makes sense to try and consolidate their data on something they can rely on, like hardware sales, monthly active users and engagement time.
I feel like most people complain about the damage when talking about bosses. I don't mind the damage but I do mind when a move isn't telegraphed which is the case for most bosses.
@BluWarfareHD Switching to ARM or RISC-V is easier nowadays since translation layers are a thing now. And those chips are cheaper and more energy efficient when compared to x86.
If Apple can make their Macbook M-Series work with most productivity software I'm sure the gaming industry will find a way to make games work in both ARM and x86.
@MrPeanutbutterz Ironically as it is, despite x86 being an "off the shelf" solution, the manufacturing costs of said chips have been increasing over the years since 2018, especially the SoC type that both Sony and MS use.
Honestly I think consoles could cut down prices by adopting either ARM or RISC-V as their CPU choice, GPU-wise they can continue with AMD since its cheaper than Nvidia.
"PS5 was earmarked as the main platform for Wilds [...]"
Funny how people can say the most BS lie without even thinking. Wilds has a lot of performance problems, problems that you REFUSE to fix, people won't buy your game until its fixed.

Anyways I hope this game hits the 5M milestone over the lifetime, but I think the price tag is a tad bit high right now.

Re: PS6 Manufacturing Scheduled to Get Underway in Early 2027
Well, manufacturing begins between 8 months up to a year before release date in some cases.
Either a late 2027 or an early 2028 release, my bet is probably Holidays 2027.

Microsoft new console, if it ever comes out, won't be worth the price anyways.
As for PS6, 2027 is the earliest estimate we can have.
