Whatever your thoughts on the game itself, Marathon’s aesthetic is being universally lauded.
It’s the kind of game you will want to buy the art book for, because it’s so distinctive and unique. Everything from the colours to the character designs to the little world details sing, and that’s all represented by the release’s ridiculously beautiful Collector’s Edition.
This is premium stuff, with the packaging among the best we’ve ever seen.
It focuses on the Thief class, and is presented in a hexagonal box with a gorgeous transparent sleeve. On the inside is a lenticular poster showing some stunning character artwork from several different angles.
Then inside you’ll discover a statue of a Runner dispatched on map Dire Marsh. The statue includes USB-powered LED lights to really bring it to life. You also get a silkworm miniature, six art cards, and an embroidered patch.
It’s worth noting you won’t get a physical copy of the game with this bundle, but a digital code will be delivered to your inbox if you plump up for the option which includes one.
At $229.99, this is an expensive novelty – but as we noted in the headline, it’s probably one of the best Collector’s Editions we’ve ever seen.
