Re: Metal Gear Solid Delta's Dismal PS5 Pro Support Could Use a Rethink

@Neither_scene
What if I told you its a little bit of both?
A game made on UE5 without features like Lumen and Nanite should work fine, but most devs won't do that because using Lumen and Nanite saves them time and work, or because the studio lacks tech artists.

Lumen and Nanite aren't fit for games, not without a lot of tweaking, but for movies and animations they work fine.

Re: Sony Made a Massive Mistake with Movie Sensation K-Pop Demon Hunters

CielloArc

Not surprised, this is Sony Pictures we are talking about, as long as they breathe they will screw up.

Remember Morbius? Remember how Sony Pictures had to yank the movies from theathers because it was just that bad? Remember the amount of memes we made about the movie?

Well, what most people don't remember is some execs saw the memes and thought we liked the movie, so they spend a couple more millions to put the movie back on theathers, a move that made the movie flop even harder.

I swear, seems like the main requirement to be hired by Sony Pictures is to be rejected by WB for being too incompetent even by WB standards.

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds Patch 1.021 Out Now, Adds New Endgame Grind, Weapon Buffs, More

CielloArc

@TruestoryYep A little bit of both.
RE Engine was made with closed area games in mind, it got patched to handle open area games, and it did fine. But open area games and open world games are two different things and require some technical considerations.

The opposite of RE Engine would be Decima, it was made for open world games and it got two titles that weren't open world, one was the debut title for the engine, Killzone Shadow Fall, the other was Until Dawn. KZ was a hit and the other a miss when it came to performance.

Re: EA Refuses to Fund the Dragon Age Remasters You Crave

CielloArc

Well, they put out ME Legenday Edition and Dead Space 2023 and while ME did well Dead Space didn't, it missed the sales target by a lot apparently.
So yeah, I can kinda guess why EA doesn't want to fund a new remaster/remake.

On the other hand, Bioware isn't doing anything now other than ME4, right? They should have the tools and people to do a DA Legenday Edition.

Re: Rumour: Sony to Put More First-Party PS5 Games on Xbox

CielloArc

From my humble perspective, unless its a live service game I don't think we'll be seeing anything first-party on Xbox, be it old or new.
It makes no sense, you will probably waste money and time developing a port that won't pay itself back.

Third party games published by Sony on the other hand? They might do it because usually developers build for multiple platforms and try to pitch the idea to those platform holders.

Re: Brazilian Gamers Infuriated by Sudden PS5 Price Hikes

CielloArc

@CutchuSlow
A decent modern PC to play something like 2024/2025 titles would cost something between 3-5x the minimum monthly wage there.

Games on Steam are cheaper because, as far I understand, they use a loophole on their tax code that specify PC Software is exempt of some taxes and PC games are a type of PC Software. The same tax exemption doesn't apply to videogames, both software and hardware.
Also it appears they are subject of more taxes because, again as far I understand, the word "gaming" there is also related to gambling and gambling has some heavy laws over there.

The more I read the more it seems this is more of a problem that could be solved with clear laws than an economic one, not that the economy there is solid or reliable anyways.

@KundaliniRising333
My brother, they have been eating that loss for the last 3~5 years.
USD/BRL is hovering around the 5.60 but it can go as high as 6.20

Sony was operating with a 5.20 to 5.80 margin, which means PS5 games MSRP in Brazil were overall cheaper 15 to 20% cheaper than their counterpart on United States

Re: The Next Xbox Is a PC, So What Does That Mean for PS6?

CielloArc

It means nothing, Sony will follow through their strategy since it has been working for over 30 years and Microsoft will most likely fail on their strategy again because people who aren't tech savy will get confused and people who are will probably build a PC with SteamOS.

Re: Days Gone Dev Hit with Layoffs, Loses 30% of Staff

CielloArc

@Questionable_Duck
Those games didn't sell because "they were marketed by Microsoft", they sold because P5 became a multimedia hit and the Persona brand finally got mainstream attention, and that was even before ATLUS decided to go multiplat.

If Microsoft marketing was any good they should use it, had a guy last week asking me when Avowed and Hellblade 2 would be out.

Re: Video Game Actor Strike Over AI Concerns Could Finally Be Close to an End

CielloArc

@nessisonett
I'm not part of the problem, I'm the consumer and any creature siding with SAG-AFTRA is literally bringing more harm to the industry than AI ever will.
FFS, this entire strike hasn't been about AI for a while now, it was to secure exclusivity rights for SAG-AFTRA. Negotiations stopped once companies saw that one clause and bailed out.
