Re: Sony Accused of Using Generative AI Art for PlayStation Advent Calendar Promo

CielloArc

Well, GenAI can't generate pixelated looks that well because of how they generate images. Sure, maybe a trained and curated model would be able to do that, but we know that costs money and companies use AI to save money not to spend more of it.

While it looks like AI generated, honestly I think its just generic enough for people to mistake it with AI, or maybe the concept was created via AI and the artist just rolled with it.

Re: Geoff Keighley's Cryptic Post Has Fans Speculating Wildly About The Game Awards Announcement

CielloArc

Idk boss, even Bethesda said Elder Scrolls 6 is still years away and while I don't trust them when they promise something they usually don't FA with release dates.

New Diablo game is also not an option, D4 is both a recent game and its still receiving updates despite it being a vessel of hatred, maybe a new expansion but usually those are revealed on either Blizzcon or Xbox Showcase.

Fallout New Vegas remake while plausible, we already got a new Fallout release via Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition, so chances are slim to none at all.

God of War... idk, this does not look like a God of War thing but I do feel like we are going to see something from that franchise very soon.

As for my own theory, its probably something related to Path of Exile 2, new league is releasing soon and free weekend starts at the same time TGA happens, seems like a good way to promote the game.

Re: Leaked Footage of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake Almost Two Years Old, Ubisoft Confirms

CielloArc

Yeah, my experience tells that when a company says "The product changed so much since then" you should brace yourself for something worse than what you saw.

Why? Because major changes costs major money and companies do not like to expend major money to change a product, unless the change costs less money than letting the project flop. Case in point, Chernobyl Sonic design from the Sonic movies.

Re: PS5 Roguelike Let It Die: Inferno Uses a Crapload of Generative AI

CielloArc

Again, as with Arc Raiders we should care less about whether they used AI and more like how they used it.

“AI generated content has been used and then edited by our team for certain parts of the in-game voices, music, and graphics"
So far nothing wrong here, it doesn't seem they went full Microsoft and used AI either for correction or for concept.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Microtransactions Will Fund 'Chunkier' Updates Going Forward

CielloArc

@GamingGod
Different goals and thresholds to develop an incremental update

NMS devs will deploy an update because they can and they only need to sell say like 100.000 copies to break even, anything beyond that is pure profit.

Ubisoft will deploy an update because they see an opportunity to maybe make a profit, keyword here being maybe. Not only that but if NMS need 100k to break even, Ubisoft needs at least 10x more to reach the same break even point.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's Controversial AI Use Is Even Attracting Attention of US Politicians

CielloArc

"His stance isn't wholly against AI, but that it needs some form of regulating to protect workers from 'excessive automation'."

And this is why China will take over, they simply do not care about protecting workers as long as they can make more, can make it cheaper and still have the same or better quality.

There's a reason why we are banning shipping AI chips to China, and its because if they get hold of that tech there's no stopping them.

Re: Embarrassing AI Art Plagues Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Launch

CielloArc

@SirSephy
tbh the chances of any random guy getting a development job at a big gaming company has been close to none for a decade or so.

I don't see a problem with AI but companies have been shipping any AI generated asset as a final product and that ain't how the tool is supposed to be used.

But then again, its the same companies that uses FSR/DLSS and frame generation as a stupid crutch to reach a frame/resolution target instead of properly optmizing their games to reach their target frame/resolution natively and using FSR/DLSS and framegen to improve on it.

Re: Here's Why Sony Is Making a Japan-Specific PS5 Console

CielloArc

@StrickenBiged
This has less to do with software and more with logistics.

Its easier to do logistics if a console is region-locked, stock management, shippment, distribution, etc. You could even manufacture some components in said country too to get some tax discount.

Not only that, but even advertisement, collab oppotunities and other stuff can be made easier by going that route.

Re: Ghost of Yotei PS5 Sales Surpass 3.3 Million Units, Crush Boycott Nonsense

CielloArc

@Oram77 For a game this big? Yes.
Don't get me wrong, 3.3M is a good number, but it isn't near what a game like this should be making, at least not when its a sequel to an established IP.

I mean, Tsushima sold 2/3 of this number in three days, as a new IP without nothing to rely on except hype and hope.

Something went way wrong with marketing or public perception with this game.

Re: Don't Expect Any PS5 Exclusives from Square Enix in the Future

CielloArc

"Our guess is that the PS5’s share of sales will dramatically decline"

My guess is that it will stay about the same.
Its a brand that Square like it or not is already associated with Playstation.
Anyways, I can only picture Switch 2 managing to hit about the same number as PS5 when it comes to FF sales, Xbox just ain't the way brother.

Re: Sony Stands with Japan's Creators in AI Copyright Crackdown

CielloArc

Japanese copyright law is weird because Comiket is a thing in Japan yet companies rarely go after doujins being sold at that event but they can go after a speedrun event because its streaming a game without the permission from the IP holder.

But I can see why they would go after Sora2, its owned by another company and its making money from copyrighted work, albeit not directly.

Re: 'Fame Does Not Create a Trademark': Sony, Tencent's War of Words Over Horizon Rip-Off Rage On

CielloArc

" It pointed out that the PlayStation property also shares similarities with games like The Legend of Zelda and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West."

They do share some similarities indeed, like theme, gameplay and other things. Just like how every zombie movie/game share some things, its inherent to the genre and setting.
But each work should be distinct enough from each other in order to avoid trouble.

The fact that Tencent changed the game AFTER the lawsuit came out means they KNOW this travesty is similar enough to Horizon to warrant that lawsuit.

And no, this is not the same as Nintendo vs Palworld, Nintendo literally tried to copyright basic mechanics that every game outside Pokemon has. Basic things humanity has been doing since the inception of humanity, like throwing an object or riding an animal.

"Gaming's competition is not other gaming. Gaming's competition is short-form video."

Was he drunk or high when he said this? No one with a sane mind would say that, at least not without drinking the whole bar or doing some line. Please hook me up with his dealer because I want to get as high as him when he said that.

Gaming has never shared public with anything, except toys. And that was a whole two decades ago before comunists around the globe started clamping down against selling toys for kids.

Re: EA's Game Development Is Very Quickly Becoming an AI-Driven Hellscape, Report Claims

CielloArc

@ryan_nil @nessisonett
I've been using it to review code and find any syntax errors that could lead to some screw up later down the line. That and for generating documentation.

But then, again, I know the limitations of generative AI, that's why I avoid using it for critical work opting instead to use it for automation of a boring part.

What suits need to realize is that getting help from AI doesn't mean people will work faster, but they could and should work better if they know how to use it. It ain't a silver bullet.
