Just a reminder: Capcom had to fight microsoft to publish MvC Collection because Xbox had phased out support for MT Framework. Microsoft had to provide personal support for Larian otherwise BG3 wouldn't even release on Series.
So yeah, this smells less like "Sony exclusivity deal" and more like "Microsoft sheer incompetence on making a decent console and providing decent support"
Not just Max, the whole FGC lost their marvels, I mean, marbles over this reveal. Even I screamed like him when I saw what was going on.
Its a mix of both happiness and sadness, happiness because finally a new marvel fighting game, sadness because this game might have killed any chances of a MvC4.
@ATaco I'd say their design was normal for both male and female characters. In fact they did such a good job that you can guess a character's role, personality and other characteristics just by looking at the silhouette.
People are overcomplicating things. A good game sells, a good game with good design will ALWAYS sell.
Case in point, this year we had Clair Obscure: Expedition 33, a game that was good and had good character designs, not oversexualized like Stellar Blade nor it was Veilguard/Concord levels of bad.
@Serialsid They add numbers, just not numbers that will stick around for more than a month. No reason to have an ongoing GP subscription if you don't own an Xbox.
It became so bad Bethesda had to sponsor some streamers this week and also host their own stream. Problem being no one was watching, there were more people watching Expedition 33 than people watching Doom TDA, and that game is already beyond the peak engagement window.
Engagement is good? Yes, as long it sells. Expedition 33 is still engaging people and selling like hotcakes, Doom TDA isn't.
It was mainly used for cashback, and not even good cashback.
Though I did managed to get some games with a hefty discount by Stars and some cashback from my bank, I did not recommend this service to anyone I knew because the rewards weren't good enough.
Wanna know the irony? He spoke at Gamescom LATAM, an event held in south america where if you have a daily wage of $80 you are already in the top 1% on most countries there.
$80 might be a "steal" for NA, but for other countries it just damn expensive no matter what you offer. Localized prices would help people to see value and help with sales.
Of course morale is down low, this is the third time they got caught. Not only that but they might have to scrap the entire game since not only the artwork but the whole artstyle was based on those stolen assets.
@Rich33 Denuvo isn't exactly better than other solutions, just the most used. Also, it doesn't stop people from trying to pirate your game, but it does punish anyone who actually bought the game if it is implemented in a wrong way.
If anything, I'd just wait for the game to hit GoG or for ShiftUP to remove Denuvo in a year or two.
This is an arcade like title priced as a modern fighting game. While the gameplay is good, it isn't enough to sell a game at that premium price anymore.
@Oram77 I know, my gripe with it is more the fact they are trying to make the genre work falling in the same old pitfalls instead of analyzing why it doesn't work.
Name a more iconic couple in games than Bungie and asset stealing. Third time is the charm right?
I think the whole bunch Live Service studios Sony bought are turning out to be not worth the money they paid, and the only that could be worth the money isn't going to work with Sony in their next game.
While Denuvo isn't a dealbreaker for me, I'd like for games to not have it. Mainly because most devs do not even know how to properly implement that tech which does lead to loss in performance.
@naruball Not really, but it has become a standard to offer more than two years of support. It also might affect the sales, why should I buy the next MK if I'm only gonna get like two years of content and support? For the same money I could get SF6 that will still offer me things to do or to look forward.
Yeah, not when your competitors are doing 5+ years. Hells, even Virtua Fighter came back from the grave and will receive more support than MK1 ever did.
I mean, HZD got a remaster, Spider-Man got a remaster, TLOU got so many remasters I lost count, Days Gone got one and even Until Dawn got a remaster.
So, games that didn't need one and honestly no one cares got a remaster, meanwhile other Sony IP are still locked on their respective platforms with no way to be played, no wonder people are pissed.
If you ain't gonna release a remaster at least put them into PS Plus or something.
@heavyartillery56 But in this case it isn't even reinventing the wheel, its a thing that they do every 7~8 years. Even Microsoft leaked documents two years ago said that development on their next console was evaluating x86 vs ARM cost.
Also, compatibility layers are a thing now, and it has advanced to the point that even companies like Google, Amazon and Microsoft, their Azure side of business, are swapping their x86 servers for ARM ones.
Ironically enough Trump wasn't in office when most price hikes happened yet people blame him.
However I do know that manufacturing waffles for x86 chips and GPU chips got hella expensive over the last decade. Expensive enough for Intel to stay on 14nm++++++++++++++² for almost 5 years due to the fact it was quite inexpensive for them to manufacture it. ARM on the other hand became cheaper to manufacture and offers comparable performance, main reason why Apple was the first to migrate to ARM, they could maintain their performance and still have a profit when manufacturing their macbooks.
So, dare I say staying on x86 wasn't exactly the best move for both Sony and Microsoft?
Problem being: Sony can't really mandate a company to put their entire game on BD.
They can however demand a clear indicator in the box art saying the game isn't fully in the disk, and they could also refuse to promote those games via State of Play or other kind of outlets.
Y'know, Tekken producer was on stage this last weekend and apologized to the public, said it was a mistake to let a new team to handle Tekken and that they'll bring the old team to fix things and teach the new team how to handle stuff, also that they should have listened the community and this will not happen again.
The same guy who is famous for using a shirt saying "Don't ask me for sh*t" mind you.
So, a new patch for NRFTW drops after a year of nothing happening, it makes the grind unbearable and it has an unbalanced difficulty spike, people complain and instead of listening the feedback and fixing, the dev basically says "people are wrong, the game is awesome, this is a review bombing, please if you support leave a positive review or else we might have to shutdown", how do you think people should feel towards the game? I don't know about other people, but I know every interest I had in this game died with this drama.
For a bundle it is a good deal, you just checkout and wait for it to arrive.
But as other people pointed out, you can get a better deal if you wait a little and take advantage of multiple deals that will appear over the next weeks.
Nah, while there is some review bombing the show was dropped by the casual crowd, they hated the fact Joel isn't in the show anymore. Hells, I've got two people in my social circle who never played the game and thought it was a stupid idea to remove the only character they would ever root for.
@GeeForce The thing is: its easy to botch a PC port due to the fact you can't target specific hardware due to the modular nature of PC, a thing that, in theory, isn't possible to do with consoles because the hardware specs are static, they won't change for 6-7 years.
Also, both Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal released with little to no problems and mostly stable performance in all platforms.
In US, the average "disposable money" hovers around the $80 mark according to some research, that is money you can afford to spend in a certain product you consider essential for your living standards.
So a lot of people paying $80 for a deluxe edition doesn't surprise me as much.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare @Puketapu That's still keeping it in the same area, though. The idea is to have an assembly line and distribution center in every major region.
Why ship everything from Asia? Just ship the components.
@OldGamer999 I'll do you one better: why not make the global part in global market a real thing and start assembling products all around the globe instead of just China?
No reason why we should stick to China when almost every major region in the globe have the resources to support an assembly line and a local distribution center.

Re: PS5's Brilliant New State of Play Breaks Records for Sony
Ironically enough, this was the most "japanese" SoP we had in a while.
Also, given the fact the green side is fuming I guess Sony really understood the assignment.

Anyways I think both MvC and Tokkon will happen.
Tokkon is exclusive to PS5 and PC, MvC might be a true multiplatform title.
