Re: Xbox Is Eager to Build the Best Games You Can Enjoy Everywhere

CielloArc

Another way to read that statement is:
"We got our a** handed on a silver plate by a 2014 tablet and can't find any way to be competitive on this market anymore, we simply give up, we'll just release games everywhere to make money and tell people that supported our brand that any device they play our games can be called an Xbox"

Re: Sony Confirms Interest in Buying FromSoftware Parent Company Kadokawa

Sony does not own a monopoly because the anime industry in Japan is basically composed of joint ventures.
A committee is responsible for making an anime and members of said committee can't do more than one task.

If Sony buys Kadokawa means that they could act as either the IP holder, music producer, distributor in Japan or distributor overseas, but they have to chose one of those.

Re: Kadokawa Wants Sony's Full Commitment with Buyout of Entire Company

CielloArc

@Loamy
Most works in Japan are run by production commitees since the mid-80s
Also, its not a written rule but usually if a company handles the distribution inside Japan they let other company handle the international release.

Case in point, Aniplex does not handle most of international releases from the shows they are part, one example is My Hero Academia where Aniplex is part of the production committee but Toho handles the international distribution.

Re: LEGO Horizon Adventures Sets Odd Precedent, Lacking PS5 Pro Support

@mrmartinrohr
Keyword here being could.
It isn't a PS Studio title nor it is made by one, this is the first title of a studio that has been doing basically support work for other games.
I wouldn't expect them to receive a Pro devkit in order to develop those features, too much risk involved for a title that isn't worth the trouble.

Re: Australia's Planned Social Media Ban to Include PSN

CielloArc

As much as I dislike social media, to the point last account I got was a facebook one back in 2014, gotta say that this whole wave of bans is more political than anything.

They don't care about children at all, they care about people realizing there are more political views than what the government allows you to have.

Re: Assassin's Creed Boss Says Series Is Inherently Diverse, Just Like History

CielloArc

@Korgon
What is the first thing that comes in your mind when I say there will be an Assassin's Creed in, let's say, China, who do you expect to be the main character? What is the setting, time period and so on? Sure as hell it ain't George Washington with a steel chair fighting a cabal of space lizards in the 24th century with Shenzhen, China as the main hub map.

People had expectations when it came to an Assassin's Creed situated in medieval Japan, the bar wasn't high and doing the bare minimum would guarantee sales, Ubisoft just chose to ignore that and the rest is history as they say.

Also Naoe is so much of a main character she is barely featured or mentioned on promotional materials.

Re: Assassin's Creed Boss Says Series Is Inherently Diverse, Just Like History

@Korgon
I mean, expectations were betrayed, you can't expect people to use reason when that happens.

And you definetly can't expect people to use reason when Ubisoft keeps fighting against the consumer instead of going full PR mode like:
"Okay, we knew what you were expecting and we know we screwed this up not only from a development standpoint but from a marketing standpoint as well. We'll try to make and deliver a new AC game in Japan that will live up to your expectations in the near future but please at least try to give this game a chance and try to give us a chance to fix this"

Re: Assassin's Creed Boss Says Series Is Inherently Diverse, Just Like History

CielloArc

You know what isn't inherently diverse in the gaming industry Ubisoft? Money income since it all comes from making games people expect you to make.

Shadows just isn't that, no matter how much you try to butter up that isn't the game players were expecting nor it is the game players want to play. You either scrap that game and go back to the drawing board or you release it and watch it flop, pre-orders were way bellow expectations already.
