Hideo Kojima could well be one of the busiest directors/designers in the industry right now; not only is he fielding interviews and constantly posting on social media, but he's also simultaneously working on three games at his studio, Kojima Productions.
First, there's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach — he's working on updates for the recently released game. Then there's OD, a horror title that he's now giving more focus as the aforementioned sequel. Finally, there's Physint — that mysterious PlayStation exclusive, announced at the start of last year.

In an interview with IndieWire, Kojima comments that he alone is currently working on this latter project.
Asked what he's currently working on, here's his full answer:
Well, I’m checking the data of [Death Stranding 2] players all over the world — what kind of weapons they’re using, the routes they’re taking, all this data. And I also see these small bugs here and there, so I’m deciding where to fix and what to fix. I also am starting to work with the team on “OD” because that’s a new project, and also doing “Physint” all by myself because that’s at the conceptual stage. So I’m doing that. And also I have all these interviews every day, and also promotional — photo-shootings, things like that — so I don’t feel like I’ve finished the title, to be frank.
So, Physint is technically in the works, but it's at the "conceptual stage" and Kojima is working on it solo — basically meaning it's years and years away.
Still, it's at least encouraging that he brought it up and acknowledges it here. We may not see this game for a long time, but it's in the works.
All we know about Physint at this point in time is that it's a "next-generation action espionage game", suggesting this will be some sort of spiritual successor to the Metal Gear Solid series. On top of that, the aim is to "transcend the barriers between film and video games".

He seems to have increased his output capabilities, but I think that’s more team based. It always concerns me when it’s straight Kojima. It’s almost like he has analysis paralysis.
PS7 release window
@graymamba
Exactly!
Why announce something two years ago when it’s still not even being actively worked on (still). Basically they announced that game creator has an idea for a new game. 🤯
Considering Kojima Productions has excellent project managers (including Kojima himself), I think 2030 or 2031 are realistic release windows for this. When you think about it, what this new independent iteration of KojiPro has accomplished in less than ten years is extraordinary.
Why even bother announcing it then? Realistically this will not release before the end of the decade.
So we won't be seeing this one until at least 2029 or 2030.
@nessisonett Because it felt like a PR coup for PlayStation after Kojima jumped ship to Xbox for OD. Not that I like this.
@TBubs311 sometimes studios, especially with established reputations use these announcements to attract talent.
I wish I could understand what people like about Death Stranding.
I have a new idea for a game and I'm bringing it to PlayStation 7.
There, I've now done as much work on my new game as Kojima has done on Physint.
KP were able to turn around a new open world IP inside 5 years so I don't think we'll be waiting forever. It's obviously a PS6 game though.
Yeah... this game most likely isn't gonna be on PS5. Definitely a PS6 title
I am mostly curious about OD. Hope it's not pure horror and has "gameplay" in it more than walking corridors/turning back and walking corridors again.
Long painful wait for Physint.
I would love for him to blow everyone's minds and to release it exclusively on PS3 in 2028.
2034 at the earliest at this point.
He is the neymar of gaming incredibly overrated!!
Is it just me or does this beg the question what is Kojima Productions working on? Are they all on vacation still, or is it Death Stranding 2 DLC? New map would be my dream...
I love having stuff far in the future to look forward to as it adds up and secures a library for later... but there are some games you should ABSOLUTELY forget about.
Like any major Kingdom Hearts sequel-- or character for that matter. They don't remember anything. Kojima would have had a field day making KH memory card shenanigans.
Conceptual stage: "What celebrities can I get for this game"
Tf is the name Physint anyways?
I thought Sony had moved away from Announcing games too early, after the whole Wolverine situation, guess not....
@Damage99 me too, I've tried twice but its sh1te
@SuperSilverback Hopefully Keanu Reeves lol
Kojima has always pushed to merge Cinema and Gaming into a unique third thing. Today we take for granted the amount of cinematic care and gameplay depth in games, but he pioneered so much of that. Glad to hear that’s still his focus.
Kojima is a workaholic huh. He just finished DS 2 and most devs probably still taking a vacation after they finished their big project. But Kojima already working on OD and Physint while patching up DS 2.
I give my salute to Kojima 🫡 . He's 61 years old but he's working like he's in 20-30's.
@nessisonett Why? Because he wants people especially his fans knows what he's working on in the next 5-6 years.
And i doubt Physint will take a decade to come out. DS 1 took 3 years to finished (2016-2019) and DS 2 also took 3 years to finished (2022-2025). Kojima and his team works quite efficient.
Dude how is OD a sequel to anything?
@Markatron84 Congratulations.....now come back in 27 with a game and I'll give you the Kojimasan2.0 award, till then stop waffling *****
@TBubs311 yeah, but said game creator actually creates unlike you. Therefore I'll pay attention to his announcement not your piss poor snidey arse post. Feel free to provide evidence to the contrary
I'm a patient Kojima-san fan. I can wait.
Conceptual stage for Kojima could mean that we get a trailer next year and a release date within 3 years, so no worries. Kojima’s one of the more creative and hardworking studio bosses out there
I feel having his own studio means he's much faster in making his plans with Konami it wasn't his IP so he could faff around and delay games but with his own IP he has to be focused which is a good thing.
Whatever this man does, inject it into my veins.
He hatched Death Stranding pretty quick. Let the man cook. But, I'm not surprised Herman Hulst gave a man a contract based on nothing.
@Damage99 OCD, baby. I love delivering them packages. The story is convoluted and pretentious and I've seen the twist coming since inception. But, God damn do I love high tailing it across mountains and desert delivering boxes.
@Nepp67 "Tf is the name Physint anyways?"
Clearly he has taken the words physically and isn't and smashed them together to make the word physint...
As in "there currently physint(physically isn't)any game yet"
@MrStrange You know that is actually pretty on point with how he names stuff
Yep, sounds fair. I honestly prefer him to map it out by himself rather than with a huge team. Too many voices in the conceptual stage can muddy the process. I see nothing wrong with this tbh. I’m actually more excited because of that.
This man is a gaming treasure. If game developers ever qualified for sainthood.
@MrStrange I believe Physint is for physical + intelligence. But hey, cool joke.
Damn. That’s a long wait. Hype slowly physinting out.
Give the man certain restraints and an editor and he can do great things. Unbridled creative and financial freedom hasn't led to him making better games.
@PuppetMaster
Exactly what I wanted, the unwritten rules of the universe/Internet work again!
For those who don't know said rules... if you ever want to know an answer the fastest way is to give an incorrect answer and faster than you can blink someone will turn up to let you know you are wrong and give you the correct answer lol
Thanks for helping to keep the balance of the universe and for giving us all the correct answer.
Ps. Thanks for enjoying my joke answer 😉
@Trippylobster You're the only one here making piss poor snidey arse posts defending a literally unmade game that is probably ten years away. Hopefully by the time it releases, you're more grown up.
I look forward to it.
I just hope his heart is in it, that he doesn't just phone it in like DS2, which while good, felt like a contractual obligation to Sony.
Kojima is a genius, and I will not hear otherwise! Taking my time with Death Stranding 2 - absolutely brilliant game. Let the man cook!
@Oram77 they didn't really announce much other then it was a project in the works with a code name.
@twitchtvpat I suppose you're right, to be fair to Sony they have learnt their lesson about showing things too earlier, which is funny because Xbox seem to be doing a lot recently.
@Oram77 i also feel like somtimes they want to beat websites before they can leak things , so they've been pretty tight lipped about certain projects , so it wouldn't shock me if their next big game gets announced with a very small time frame with a release date, which i wouldn't hate either.
@twitchtvpat I think the way they are doing Ghost of Yotei is the perfect way to start building up hype/excitement.
So SONY and Kojima Productions announced a game idea from Kojima instead of a game. Definitely a Kojima move.
@Nepp67 "Tf is the name Physint anyways?"
I guess it is a portmanteau of "Physical" and "intelligent", but I am not sure.
More non-news from the farteur.
@PuppetMaster Yeah I don't get the negativity either. I mean he's just dropped a damn fine game but haters gotta hate I guess. I wonder if they whinge when their favourite bands say we're working on a new album etc etc or a movie director says my next project will be whatever. People these days just can't take a win for a win.
And let's face it a gaming world without Hideo in it is a far worse off place. Love him or hate him he is an innovator that can't be beat. Alongside Swery perhaps the David Lynch of gaming. Which reminds me when the Hell are we going to get Deadly Premonition 2 on the PS5?
Death Stranding 2 is the GOAT and my GOTY. Anything else from him is just icing on the cake. Only other thing I’ve been playing on my off time is Castlevania: Circle of the Moon lol.
