Geoff Keighley has confirmed Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 as the first game to be part of next month's Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase.
The host says that the reveal opens the livestream in a "massive way", which is scheduled for 19th August at 7pm BST / 11am PT / 2pm PT.
Coming just a year after Black Ops 6, the game's first announcement closed the Xbox Games Showcase last month to a degree of disappointment. It's set 40 years after the last game and has been described as the "most mind-bending" entry yet. After the single player story of Black Ops 6, that's an interesting statement.
"Wielding cutting-edge technology, David Mason and his team must fight back against a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else."

Between now and the showcase next month, more games will be confirmed for the show by Geoff Keighley, though of his three shows throughout the year, Gamescom Opening Night Live is the most low-key with the fewest big reveals.

Black ops 7? Genuinely have such a blind spot when it comes to COD I didn't know there had been a black ops 5 or 6
I’m sure there are people out there excited about this, i’m not one of them
@rusty82 the fifth game wasn’t officially “5”, it was subtitled “Cold War” and BO6 is the current instalment.
So what sort of wheel is this Call of Duty going to be?
I remember when I used to buy Call of Duty every year and genuinely enjoy them. I’ve lost interest now and haven’t played any since Black Ops Cold War which I got when the PS5 released.
I'll watch gamescom definitely but no thanks I woudnt play these games if they were free
So many sequels, but none hold up to the original. The numbers Mason!
Could care less TBH.
There's always so many apathetic comments towards cod that seem to increase every year, and I fully agree with them, I also couldn't care less about it, havent enjoyed a cod game since mw2, but they're still always best sellers. I dont know who it is thats playing them every year. probably the same people who are buying gta 5 after 15 years to consistently put it in the top sellers that month.
I'm excited to see David Mason finally return. I have been waiting since 2012!
"Mind-bending" as in MechaTrump as the final boss?
