Monster Hunter Wilds is not what we’d describe as the smoothest PS5 game, so Capcom’s decision to hold a seminar on video game optimisation doesn’t strike us as the best idea.
To be clear, the Japanese publisher has made some outstandingly slick software over the years, so we’re sure it has valuable knowledge to share on the subject. But its latest action RPG has slumped to overwhelmingly negative reviews on Steam, with its shockingly subpar performance being one of the reasons why.
The publisher’s probably made the best call cancelling the aforementioned lecture, then, as reported by Automaton.

The session had been scheduled to take place at the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference later this month.
Unfortunately, the response from fans has been particularly harsh, prompting the company to release a statement outlining its policies in regards to harassment.
The letter reads, as translated from Japanese:
“We take customer opinions and requests seriously, as they are indispensable for improving our products and services, and we strive to improve quality. On the other hand, we have confirmed some instances of slander, libel, denigration, intimidation, threats to harm or disrupt business, and harassment against our executives and employees by name or in a manner that recalls specific individuals, via customer support desks, social media, and review/posting sites on game sales sites.”
Obviously, as the company itself states, this crosses a line. There’s nothing wrong with criticising a product and wishing for it to improve, but threats and harassment against staff are not acceptable in any way.
Capcom didn’t give a specific reason for the cancellation of its seminar, but it’s likely these two incidents are linked.
As fans of Monster Hunter Wilds, we just hope the publisher can continue to improve the game, and deliver the kind of optimisation we know it’s capable of.
