Here’s your first look at the Mortal Kombat 2 movie from Warner Bros, starring New Zealand actor Karl Urban as washed-up film star Johnny Cage. It’s out in theatres, including IMAX, on 24th October.
Let’s start with the full-length trailer, because we suspect that’s what you’ve clicked on this page to see, right?
Okay, and for those of you paying attention, you may have already seen this Uncaged Fury clip. This is obviously the trailer for a fictional film that Cage starred in:
This being a Mortal Kombat movie, it’s not long before Cage encounters Raiden and Sonya Blade in a parking lot and is pulled into the NetherRealm, where he’ll compete in a bloody fighting tournament against all manner of colourful characters.
Among them will be Adeline Rudolph’s Kitana and Tati Gabrielle’s Jade. Just to be clear, yes, the Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet heroine is in this movie.
Here’s the official overview:
“From New Line Cinema comes the latest high-stakes instalment in the blockbuster video game franchise in all its brutal glory, Mortal Kombat 2. This time, the fan favourite champions – now joined by Johnny Cage himself – are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.”
And here are a bunch of character posters:
The previous Mortal Kombat movie, released during the pandemic in 2021, was pretty bad – but not in a good way. This looks similarly awful but in a way we can appreciate so far. That’s the way Mortal Kombat should be.
