Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is getting a big update with 120Hz refresh rate and VRR today.
While the game will still run at 60fps, the new options – available with compatible displays only – could help reduce input delay and improve the overall smoothness of gameplay in some instances. Your mileage may vary, but the options are appreciated at least.
In addition to a string of minor balance updates and bug fixes, v1.21 will also add guest character Cristiano Ronaldo’s campaign to the game.
You’ll now be able to select the Portuguese footballer in both arcade mode and the single player RPG mode Episodes of South Town to learn more about his story. Both of these modes were inexplicably absent at launch.
Here’s what developer SNK says about the patch:
“This update introduces additional features and quality-of-life improvements for a smoother, more seamless gaming experience. Story scenarios have also been added for Cristiano Ronaldo. Thank you for playing City of the Wolves! Keep revving it up!”
Over the weekend, the Japanese studio also revealed Street Fighter’s Ken for the game, who will be officially added later this summer.
SNK will be hoping these continued updates and improvements encourage fighting game fans to check out the title, as its sales have been disappointing to date.
