I've never loved her in any of her roles, but we'll see how she does here.

Not someone I could picture in the role but I can't judge until I see how it goes. As iconic as the character is the series has never been known for compelling stories. I don't think any of the attempts so far have been particularly great but would love if someone can finally achieve it.

So, yet another beloved franchise that Phoebe Waller-Bridge is going to completely ruin.

The very fact that she describes Lara Croft as “outrageous, and hilarious” just proves that she knows nothing of what she speaks.

I think this is good casting tbh and think she'll do a good job. The bigger question is whether they can actually make it work this time, with a good story. Although I actually have a soft spot for the first Angelina Jolie Tomb raider

Difficult for me to see her as Lara… but I guess we can wait and see. I would rather not have recognizable and mainstream actors/actresses to play these video game characters. I didn’t mind the Ramsey and Pascal as Ellie and Joel after I got used to them, but I could never see Tom Holland as Nathan Drake or Cavill as Geralt. I liked Vikander better as Lara than Jolie, but there’s a distinct difference between trying to portray the original Lara vs the reboot Lara.

Fallout is great but I wish I could say the same about Yakuza in terms of understanding the source material. Who knows I will always give these adaptations a watch and hope for the best

She lacks a certain level of camp that Lara Croft has. Angelina Jolie absolutely had it. Also this is PWB for Amazon therefore it will never ever happen, she learned from her parents how to make a living out of sheer thievery lol they’re literally in the Paradise Papers.

She seems a little too old for another reboot so I'm guessing something as she's hit her stride. Basically the 1st Indiana Jones movie is probably what they're shooting for. Maybe The Mummy. Not Tom Cruise's movie, which I still haven't seen b/c it looks that bad.

I'll probably watch it. Will withhold judgement until then.

I like her as an actress but not as Lara Croft. Looks-wise, Angelina Jolie was about as close as I think we've gotten or we're gonna get.

Well, anyone who is disappointed by the news has not been paying attention to video game adaptions at all.

I'm more concerned about PW-B in the writer's room. I have yet to see anything that she's written that I've enjoyed, I seriously don't understand the hype around her.
But the proof of the eating will be in the pudding, so let's see.

I hate when big names are the only thing that sell movies and TV shows. Give new people a chance to shine, they need an opportunity.

I'm less bothered about the choice and more about the fact that every role seems to have to be filled by a recognisable name these days. Why not let someone have their breakout role as Lara Croft?

All that said, it is Amazon, so of course, it's naturally ghoulish.

Certainly a better choice than phoebe Waller b, however she was terrible in x men so I dunno. Hopefully she can come off with the confidence and strength necessary.

I'll reserve overall judgement for when a trailer drops someday, but I can't say she would've been on my list of people to play Lara. Maybe we'll be surprised.

Could be all right. I mean, it's Tomb Raider, it doesn't need to be Citizen Kane. I'd have liked to see Karen Gillan get the gig but she's perhaps too big a name now

She doesn't look like a Lara Croft material, definitely not the physique. But eh, i enjoyed TR but not a fans of the series. So...

Hell no she's more popular for constantly featuring in the tabloids than acting skills at least here in the UK. This will clearly be more Rings Of Power than Fallout! Still to be fair outside of the games no movie version has even really done the franchise proud the best thing being Chris Barrie as the butler.

Do you not need an (ex ? Do they even exist anymore) glamour model to play Lara Croft ? (Surely she doesn’t have the correct body proportions). Maybe they can fix it artificially but I thought all the actors were against that (and went on strike over it). I liked Fallout (But not as not as much as Wheel of Time which they just axed). If the new prime changes stop my Aunt who is on my account watching Prime Video I am going to cancel prime completely. I suppose for really big ticket items I will use my parents prime and deal with the hassle of transport. But otherwise I will just use the Amazon Lockers.

there's a 1% chance the tv show turns out good, so who cares who they cast as lara? amazon has a spotty track record with its media content and videogame adaptations in particular have a dire chance of success... amazon's gaming division is also a dumpster fire so future tomb raider games are not in a good hands. it's over for lara and her adventures which is a shame, but it was a good run.
