Wow, Sony's really going all out with the Ghost of Yotei marketing.
For at least a few weeks now, we've had a new trailer what feels like every other day — but this one's somewhat special.
This is the PS5 exclusive's cinematic launch trailer, and the CG footage that you see here will almost certainly show up in imminent advertisements. Remember, the open world adventure's only two weeks away from release.
It is a good trailer, by the way, effectively setting the mood for Atsu's quest of vengeance. We almost wish it was a bit longer, because the animation quality is top notch.

I know it’ll be GOOD, but I’m waiting for reviews to see if it’s GREAT. That’ll be my deciding factor to get it day one or wait for a sale.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare How about this one? 😂😂😂
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare I have to say I agree with when you said, they can show WAY too much before, Horror movie trailers are the biggest culprit for this.
@ShogunRok Any talk of dlc yet? I bought Ghost after the Island got added, maybe a year after that in a Director Cut? Glad I waited, island was fun, and I never go back to games once I'm done.
Not that I'd get it day 1 anyway, gotta wait for the quality of life improvements like bigger font and better inventory management. I was just curious if it has a "roadmap".
@rjejr Nah, nothing official, but it's been implied in an interview that there will be some kind of expansion at some point, like Ghost of Tsushima had with Iki Island.
And obviously there's the Legends mode coming next year, but that'll be free.
That opening shot! I think half the time I'll spend playing this game will be spent just staring at the environments.
Along with intergalactic I have had all interest in this game diminished by the actors that portray the lead characters to the very rare point for me personally where I have to say that I won't be purchasing either game. I'm not advocating boycotting the games etc, etc, etc and I know both games will be great and I hope everybody who's been waiting for them enjoys them as much as I would have liked to but I just can't get past their comments and attitudes towards the gamers that will be lining their pockets.
@Northern_munkey You are right, I wasn't expecting something like this from you, but of course you always have your own opinion on whatever you want. I am like @Oz_Who_Dat_Dare and don't follow the social media cesspool of hate, and get games on whether I like the look and gameplay of them.

@Oram77 @Oz_Who_Dat_Dare I don't do social media of any sort outside of the PS forums and YouTube. I don't need to go into the details as everything is very easy to find online. Now this is my personal standing and my own opinions and I don't expect people to agree with me and as far as I'm concerned this is as much as I'm willing to say on the matter mainly because some people (discounting you two) will not be as respectful in their questioning of my decision. Let others make their own minds up as I have.
All political stuff aside i will be waiting for reviews. But it does sting a bit that SP haven't published any disclaimer about declarations made recently. Anyways... If its a good game i'll be playing
Another trailer that didn't manage to get me interested.
I dunno, it lacks something GoT had but I can't pinpoint what.
Also, I have my doubts about whether or not it will deliver what I expect as a consumer based on recent events.
Genuine question- is there data showing that the more trailers a game has, the higher the sales?
They’ve certainly been trying to pump out trailers so close to release. Very ominous pre launch for this one. I’ll be too busy anyway for this one. Maybe give it a go if they add to ps plus.
This franchise is weird for me, and yet other people share the same sentiment - I loved the first game (got the platinum), but for some reason this sequel does nothing for me whatsoever. I know it will be good, but I’m not excited about it. Those feelings aren’t stemmed from the recent political controversy, or the over saturated gameplay trailers in the last few weeks; it just hasn’t captured my attention. I will still buy it and play it, of course, but I’m not chomping at the bit for it.
@Mattock1987 im assuming preorders are very far off what they had hoped for and are trying a barrage of trailers to try and get people interested/aware. Otherwise, if all was going well companies usually coast to the release and usually release just a launch trailer at this point and proximity
Looking good!
For me, I always separated the artist from their works. I'm not gonna waste my time to check out what the artist do with their personal life and dictate why i should or shouldn't buy their works based on their hobby, opinion, or political believes.
Samurai X / Rurouni Kenshin for example. Back in 2017, the author was caught by the authority because he owned hundreds of child pron DVD and was fined $1900. It's a disgusting act to owned child pron. But despite my feelings towards the author actions, i didn't burn my Samurai X manga collection nor decide not to watch the excellent live action movies. No, to this days i'm still enjoying Samurai X and it still one of my top 10 most favorite samurai manga / anime of all time.
For Yotei, i'm still gonna buy it but probably not day 1. It's really sad with what happened last week, the week before, or these last two-three years with all these war and chaos around the world. But life goes on. Why would i fell angry and sad all day when i have video games that can entertainment me?
Not really hyped for this all because of the lack of immersive mechanics in GoT, but it seems they've added some in GoY - like camping. I can never understand how there can't be a feature to rest and skip time in any open world, then that game has no business being open world if it's just fighting nonstop from point to point - it should be linear. I'll preorder if the reviews are extremely high, else I'll just stick the only 2025 open world game that has the type of immersion I want - KCDII.
@Northern_munkey it's to bad the actors had that impact on you. But if it doesn't feel good it doesn't feel good. Maybe it will change in the future, and you get to enjoy the games then.
This is what is better in games like uncharted where the characters don't look exactly like the actors and only do the voices. If real life actors do something you don't stand by it's easier to separate them and still enjoy the game.
@RagnarLothbrok "I'm assuming preorders are very far off what they had hoped for" well it's second on the preorder charts on the PS store.... Like I said in a different article the trailers will increase closer to release that's common pratice.
@Northern_munkey Amen. I’ll be skipping this one and buying the disc used down the road (like YEARS down the road) for like $10. And playing with Japanese voices on.

@Oram77 im not even saying anything bad, just a thought. Im sure it will in all cases sell very well and millions. You just don’t see companies frantically releasing daily trailers if the current numbers are not withint their predictive models
@RagnarLothbrok Again this is a first party Sony game, they haven't released one in while (as we are all aware of) so they will of course they want as much adveritsing as possible, it doesn't come across as frantic to me personally, I suppose it's all about perspectives on how we see things.
Unsure at the mo. Normally I hardly ever buy a game on day 1 unless it's something me or my son play heavily every time around. This year however I have picked up a few games.
On the one hand, I'm kinda thinking I should have waited to get Borderlands 4 rather than grab that on day 1 and that is making me think buying on day 1 is pointless again when games often have bugs and things which need patching anyway...
On the other hand, the game looks so stunning that it keeps pulling at me.
We shall see.
@ANJB78 for most games made by western devs especially. Its best to not preorder and wait as most seem to come out broken or reviews and gameplay might reveal its not for you typically

@RagnarLothbrok Sucker Punch has a good track record with fairly bug-free/complete releases, but things can change. GEARBOX on the other hand seem to be digging themselves in deeper every day. Randy Pitchford can’t keep his trap shut.
I’m sure from a technical standpoint GoY will be well polished. I just can’t make myself support the VA of the main character or Sucker Punch themselves at the moment. Wish I could.
This is their big game heading into the holidays. Not surprised they are. Just don’t read the comments if you value your sanity
The people offended at Atsu VA’s personal opinions (on her own social media account, mind you) were never going to buy the game in the first place. If you look hard enough under anyone’s personal life, you’ll find something you don’t like. Doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy things, unless you let these situations hold that kind of power over you.
If this game gets good reviews across the board, then I’ll pick it up.
I'm hyped for it but I kind want to wait until it's out on PC, since I only have a launch PS5 and not a Pro.
@RagnarLothbrok yeah you're right, I've decided I'm going to wait. At the end of the day it will only gradually come down in price rather than go up and it's not like I've not got plenty to be playing on for a good while. Trailers so easily suck you in!
Removed - off-topic
@dskatter i can’t find myself support it either. But the main issue is that the studio and employees there probably have greatly changed since the development of Yotei. Across the western development field we’ve likely seen many older devs having retired in that period and as a consequence, talent across the western development field has greatly diminished as well as passion and love for gaming. Talking no one specific just an observation in general in western gamss

I've pre ordered this and cannot wait! It's sad so many gamers are now clowns!
@RagnarLothbrok We get it you can't separate the art from the artist and that's fine. The people who want to play it will play it but your last comment is just nonsense and nothing more than a weird gut feeling.
Politics has made everyone miserable. Except for politicians, apparently.
I’m playing Ghost of Tsushima currently and I love it. Looking forward to this one!
@Gunbeld western games are catering to folks he doesn’t think should be catered to so they’re talentless. 🤷🏾♂️
Removed - flaming/arguing
@AhmadSumadi Yeah it's obvious he thinks he's the only target demographic that matters.
@Northern_munkey I'm mostly in agreement, I don't like both actors either, but I'm hopefully able to stomach it for Ghost of Yotei.
Day one, no doubt!
Endure and survi... oh, wait, wrong IP
Fight with honor!
So I don’t know what the lead actors from Yotei and Intergalactic have specifically said to annoy so many people but even if it was something that is diametrically opposed to my own views (it probably is I’d imagine), I wouldn’t let it impact whether I wanted to play a game or not.
If I were to abstain from consuming art due to the artists involved having different political/religious/cultural/moralistic views, well… I’d be very bored.
@Gunbeld no condemning or tell people not to play anything. Hope its a banger of a game for you. Theres no harm in just having a civil discussion of different thoughts
Being there day one depends on whether I'm still playing Silent Hill F... But if I'm not there day one it'll be soon after

Very surprised at the survey results, at my time of checking only 52% said day one purchase. That's shockingly low for a playstation fan site. This game will be lucky to sell half of what GoT did. Could have been much more but it seems sucker punch have really changed these past few years and it's alienating a lot of potential customers.
@Mintie My body is ready for Silent Hill f, hoping it's a return to form for one the best franchises in gaming!
This will get an 86 metacritic, I'm a fortune teller, you heard it here first.

@ShogunRok Thanks. Not a multi-player guy so they can do what whenever on that end, but an expansion is worth waiting for. Along w/ everything else. Maybe I should finally play GTA V while I wait.😂
I have tried my hardest to overlook my concerns about the game and some of the staff who have worked on it, but something feels wrong. I wish I could easily just "separate the art from the artist", but having one of the artists' literal faces all over the game does not feel right at all. I am really quite concerned with the studio culture of SP going all the way up to the 2 creative directors. I do wish I could be someone who just "forgets it all" and just enjoys the game, but it feels like seeing how chicken nuggets are really made - it just puts you off, even though you loved them before.
Thank God the delay crowd didn't get on to this one. I'm surprised they didn't.
@graymamba I found a thread on Reddit about why Erika Ishii (actor playing Atsu) got so much hate, although simply reading their Wikipedia page gave a fairly major hint:
https://www.reddit.com/r/OutOfTheLoop/comments/1fq8z7w/what_is_going_on_with_voice_actress_erika_ishii/
EDIT: see also https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2024/09/26/ghost-of-yotei-voice-actor-erika-ishii-harassed-trolls/amp/
(to be clear, the URL condenses the headline which states that Ishii was being harassed by trolls, not that they were harassing trolls).
@Oram77 I did send links but they've been removed , knew they would be , you'll have to Google
@RagnarLothbrok "Across the western development field we’ve likely seen many older devs having retired in that period and as a consequence talent across the western development field has greatly diminished as well as passion and love for gaming"
Recent games like Expedition 33, NG Ragebound, Shinobi Art of Vengeance, Silksong, Cronos The New Dawn, Hell is Us, Metal Eden, and Robocop Rogue City are some proof that showed western studios are still very talented and capable of making passionate and fun games.
@PuppetMaster newer start studios by people that got away from the big publishers. That is where the future is at, not the former large game creators that have deteriorated since
@dancingstar93 while I appreciate the response, my point is that I don’t really care what they’re views are/aren’t. Whether the internet has blown things out of proportion or not… I’m not gonna just throw the baby out with the bath water due to peoples opinions.
I grew up as someone and remain to this day, a person that will happily enjoy a beer with someone that has opposing views to my own (as long as they’re not just an absolute wilful idiot… they can **** right off and waste someone else’s time)… sadly the ‘kids’ today want to burn anyone at the stake who isn’t part of their own respective echo-chamber.
@RagnarLothbrok I don't think it's a guaranteed future.
Leslie Benzies was an ex-Rockstar who produced GTA 3-5, RDR, Manhunt, LA Noire, and Max Payne 3. He's a veteran in gaming industry. But his first game MindsEye with the new studio was a big flop and also a far cry compare to his works at Rockstar. He probably will be unemployed sooner than later. Meanwhile, i'm sure as hell Rockstar will record tons of profits with GTA 6 for the next 10-15 years.
Or Amy Hennig. After she left ND back in 2014, her carrer took a nose dive. She worked on Battlefied Hardline and Forspoken but both games was a big flop. I'm not even sure if her Marvel 1943 with Skydance will end up as a success. Meanwhile ND is still doing well without her.
We can also look at eastern side, P* Games for example. The studio formed by ex-Capcom produced less and less games these days. They already lost two of their important founders, Mikami and Kamiya, as well a lot of creative staff who worked on Bayonetta and MGR. Meanwhile Capcom are having their second golden era.
There's always pros and cons from leaving big companies. And not everyone who left big companies will start with a bang like Sandfall or Kojima Pro either.

@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare thankyou. Everybody's entitled to their opinions and are free to make up their own minds. I have no issue with people's genders or sexual preferences to make that clear but I do have an issue with the insulting nature of the leads attitudes towards gamers and those that don't agree with them. But what do I know? I'm ignorant after all..
@Northern_munkey I have to agree with you. I hope the game does well but the actors they chose and even some of their internal staff seem to be quite horrible people. Just my opinion.
@PuppetMaster Capcom has actually entered into their Crapcom era again with Dragon's Dogma 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds.
As for Platinum, they're working on Ninja Gaiden 4 alongside Team Ninja. It remains to be seen if losing studio directors has any big impact on them.
To the fact they have been showing lots of trailers, they are all mostly just snippets and use a lot of the same video as the others so not really giving away a lot. Ill be there day one. Been still clawing away at shadows and expect this to be far better. While im going to miss the combat and feel of the first game which truly made you feel like a samurai, ill get used to what they are going for.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare The problem with social media and their thought process and has been the case for years, they don't understand that they are still the minority when it comes to opinions , literally just look at the whole AC shadows "controversy" and that game still become one of the biggest selling games of 2025, why? because AC is just has massive appeal to causal gamers, and I feel most Sony SP IPs also fall into this category, I guess we will find out come 2nd OCT.....
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare I'm aware sucker punch issued an apology about comments one of their employees (now fired) made about a recent incident and that goes some way to restoring a small percentage of good will from my personal perspective but...they are still associated with the lead actress and that is still a sticking point for me. There's no anger from me just disappointment. Anyway I hope everybody enjoys the game when it launches.
Just waiting for the pre load, already ready for Silent Hill f, just after midnight tonight! Woop woop!
