Wolverine PS5 to Finally Be Revealed in Next State of Play, It's Claimed

In any case, I'm hoping Ghost of Yotei, Saros and now this (if true) are a sign that Sony are entering that purple patch we saw between 2016-2020.

Finally. I really miss E3 basically being "here's all the new games coming out in the next 12 months, come back next year to see the games for the 12 months after that.

I know it hasn't been that way for a very long time but I still miss it. 2 years even would be fine, but I really don't need to know about new games 5 or more years before they release, it's too long.

And it's obviously not just Wolverine. Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3, DQ12, TES6, Silksong off the top of my head. GTA6 is taking a while now. I'll excuse FF7 R part 3 b/c technically they haven't even announced it yet.

Hopefully Wolverine pans out.

Very unlike modern day Sony to have two showcases of any kind even a year apart, 6months apart or a mere month apart, let alone weeks. Wolverine may be ready to show, but I highly doubt we see it this month. Or even before yotei release for that matter.

Who knows though. Maybe they are finally starting to see the obvious decline in overall sentiment toward the gaming platform, and course correcting a little....

I just hope it's not the last thing they show. They've been revealing new things at each event since the beginning of last year, I hope they don't stop with that.

Wolverine will be cool and everything, but we already know it exists. Show me something new.

@KundaliniRising333 Sony already did a general State Of Play followed by a new one focused on one game (FF Rebirth) a week after.

The only thing I don’t want to hear about the game is that it’s open world.

There's a lot that could possibly be shown like mentioned in the article wolverine and the new 2d gow, but still have venom (not sure if it still exists and if they would show it with wolverine, although they did announce spiderman 2 and wolverine at the same time), the horizon co-op game, rumored new uncharted games, Cory barlog new game, Saros gameplay, tokon new characters reveals, and project carbon from sumo (if it still exists). Not to mention I still think we'll get one more Astro bot dlc, maybe a Halloween level (perfect spot for a sweet tooth bot). Plus new 3rd party, indies games and new ps plus games. They usually do their state of plays before Tokyo game show, so highly likely we'll see it in the next 2-3 weeks.

This has me hopeful we'll get some substantial announcements in the next presentation, whether it's a State of Play or Showcase. If nothing else, give me news on reported or confirmed titles, like Marvel Tokon, GOW Metroidvania, Saros and Wolverine. Anything else, whether first, second or third party, is a bonus.

The only Wolverine games i ever played was X2 Wolverine Revenge on PC and Wolverine: Adamantium Rage on Sega Genesis. So i'm excited to see Insomniac's take on the character.

But It's just funny with how popular Wolverine is and he doesn't have many games that focus on his adventure.

@Enuo I did. This is how it's always worked. Outlets gather information from sources they trust, and then publish an article when they feel confident enough in the story.

You don't publicly state what your sources are, otherwise, you'll never have any sources ever again.

I really like Insomniac's work this gen, and have loved all their games, so really looking forwards to this one.

They need to crank out bangers for the next 18 months full stop. Like that is Sonys only option. Saros, Marathon, Yotei, Wolverine, Venom, Galactic....all need to BANG

One part of me really hopes it doesn't turn out to be an open world game. I'd rather have a linear game with some slightly open areas (a la The Last of Us) instead of trying to turn it into "Spiderman but with Wolverine" lol still, as long as the combat ends up being fun.

I would expect this when Sony does their next showcase, which will be next June, because they don't really have much to show for 1P right now.

I still have a hard time getting excited for this when I'd rather see Insomniac do literally anything else.

If the game's good, I'll definitely play it. But the only other Marvel game I wanna see out of Insomniac for the next 10 years is Venom. And that's only because I love Venom. Not like that's gonna happen, though.

@Nyne11Tyme Venom isn't happening , yes i'm aware it was in the leaks but i'm pretty sure it was a concept , also the voice actor passed away , but don't forget about the game Corey is working on hopefully that gets announced soon.

I hope this is good, but I'm not getting my hopes up up very high. If this game does something genuinely different, that would be great. If it's just another Sony over-the-shoulder action-adventure game with button prompt action cutscenes, then this will definitely be a pass for me.

I just don’t think a wolverine gameplay loop will be for me. Probably very melee heavy literal hack and slash. Most people will love it though because it could be very similar to god of war.

@KundaliniRising333 I think the decline started about a month after the ps5 launched. Once everybody started knocking Sony for not delivering on the promises that were never made the ps5 has become the defacto target for keyboard brandishing trolls the world over. I hope the wolverine game turns out to be good because after avengers endgame the marvel franchise has become diabolical on all fronts. I quite enjoyed the avengers game despite its issues and the first spiderman game is decent although I've yet to play the 2nd. Anyway fingers crossed this will be a great game.

Can't say I particularly care about another Marvel property, but I'd love another State of Play with first-party updates and new announcements soon. Would they do it just before Ghost of Yotei's launch on October 2, though? Maybe shortly after that.

Hope the story is much more SM1&MM than SM2 which was dissapointing as hell!

A 2.5D God of War game? Who the hell wants something like that after the GoW games we've had? Feels like a regression. Hard pass for me regardless of the quality, as it's not the type of game I enjoy playing, much less for an IP such as GoW.

I'm actually very interested to see all the outfits / skins that should be available to collect (much like the Spiderman outfits).

@Spedfrom considering there's plenty of people playing 2.5D metroidvania like Bloodstained, Hollow Knight, Metroid Dread, etc, i think a 2.5D GoW could be popular.

@themightyant Maybe I just miss the balance. 😝 Felt like Sony had the same 4 games for 3 or 4 years running. E3 has also been around since 1995, so maybe the earlier 00 shows were geared for the next 12 months, when they were mostly showing retailors what fames thry would be selling for the holidays? With this being in the next SoP, do you think we'll get trailer #2 of Intergalactic at the next game awards in Dec., hopefully showing gameplay, or at least a deeper look at mechanics? By then that game would supposedly be in Dev. for 5yrs
