@Northern_munkey always bring opinions to the table, it’s only discussion that helps people gain further understanding… on both sides of a debate. I think the issue here is that you were claiming a 40% reduction in sales… but that was only part of it, so people provided further context (ie the 40% in question was referring to uk physical sales… which have dropped considerably in the intervening years between 2020 and 2025). When people provided further context, you used the opinion-defense, which doesn’t really apply to constructing a point while only using partial facts.

@Northern_munkey context is everything when discussing physical sales from 2020 to physical sales in 2025. As it will be again when comparing physical sales from 2025 to 2030. Simply reading 40% down doesn’t even tell a half of the story.

@Th3solution yeah, so I didn’t see that other comment but it’s an incredibly pertinent point. I mean, the implementation of AI is meant to be something that will speed up development time at some point… but I’m not overly keen on that solution either 🤷‍♂️

So, while I will buy it at launch (always have, probably always will)… I’d be happy if the next gen was put on ice until 2030.

Yeah I remember seeing this around a year or two ago, think it was early access on PC or something. Might’ve been Skill Up who was gushing all over it. Looks really cool fair play!

@get2sammyb it was okay mate, one of the poorer souls-likes out there imho… but still decent (decent enough that I played it through 3 or 4 times to get all the endings 😅).

I’m not a massive fan of acquisitions but… if this is true, it would be one that would hark back to how Sony used to do it (prior to the Live Service push under Jim Ryan) ie work with a company across many games and over multiple generations to establish that the cultures of both could co-exist and hopefully thrive.

If it were true, it could be symbolic of Sony going back to what I personally would want them to return to.

@AdamNovice yup, as per the Matt Booty email - they tried to buy Sony out of business but it looks like bought they’re own demise.

@UnlimitedSevens you still have to upgrade your CPU’s, GPU’s etc every 5 years or so too, if you want to keep playing the new games at decent settings. You don’t just buy a PC once.

@IronCrow86 aye but what everyone with green-tinted glasses has always wilfully ignored about that is, why the hell would they do that when they would earn absolutely nothing from any purchases made on the Steam store for games published by anyone other than Microsoft… and 30% less for games they did actually publish. Never made a lick of sense to anyone with an IQ over two digits.

Microsoft has been robbing from Peter to pay Paul with the Xbox division for far too long and once the CoD on Gamepass Hail Mary failed, it was only a matter of time. I’m surprised it’s trudged on this long if I’m honest.

Hopefully manage to help get the stragglers from our group through the two remaining missions of Aliens: Fireteam Elite on Insane. It’s gonna dig up some past trauma for sure!

… and then beat the last boss in Final Fantasy: Pixel Remaster for the platinum. As someone whose first FF was XV, it’s been a pleasant surprise… and I’ve been a little blown away by its ambition and scope given the era and hardware it comes from.

I would love HBO or Netflix to do a 4 part docu-series on the rise and fall of Xbox (and it’s fandom) one day, with each part dedicated to each of their gens. Documentaries about cults and zealotry always tickle my fancy 😏

People will moan about anything and everything these days. That’s not to say that there aren’t things to call Sony (& every company) out on… (ahem live service push ahem) but the quality of their single player blockbusters simply ain’t one of them… unless you have an agenda (which many people have).

Cool, I love Lord of the Rings! Really enjoyed the two Shadow of… games and even picked up War in the North the other day on PS3 as I was fancying a game set in Middle-earth… maybe I’ll just wait for this to release now though.

@Northern_munkey I get what you’re saying but the games you mentioned were released first on a previous generation right… then the new version was released on the the new hardware after it released. Gungrave G.O.R.E released on PS5 and is now getting a new version for the same hardware. Surely that’s the differential here?

Already have Alan Wake 2 and Cocoon but have always fancied acting like a goat… so happy days!

Always interested in games that try to blend shooting and melee. It’s a difficult thing to balance but I’m always curious to see how they’ve attempted it and to try it out in practice. I’ll keep tabs on this one.

I’ll be cross-referencing the various Lords of the Fallen armour pieces that I’ve collected to this point against all 342 available within the game. Then when I identify one that I don’t have… go and farm for it. Once I have all 342, that’ll be the platinum!

Probably the best game I’ve played all year and one of the best souls-likes that I’ve ever played too… brilliant game!
