'We Want to Honour the Halo Legacy on PlayStation': Xbox on Halo's PS5 Remake 1

It's still taking some getting used to, but Xbox is now a huge publisher on PlayStation, and it's bringing one of its most beloved series to Sony's platform for the first time ever this year.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a remake of the original first-person shooter, albeit stripped of its competitive multiplayer.

Announced last year, the Unreal Engine 5-powered game is a notable one for PS5 players, who may be getting their very first taste of the sci-fi universe and playing as the iconic Master Chief.

It seems the importance of the game is not lost on the developers. Creative director Max Szlagor and executive producer Damon Conn comment on the game making the leap to PS5 in a recent feature by GamesRadar.

"We hope to bring along the series veterans who have been with us for the past 25 years and have them play with an entirely new generation," Conn says, referring to Campaign Evolved's four-player online co-op and crossplay support.

"There are people who have never been exposed to Halo," he continues. "Maybe they've always been on Sony products, switched consoles at a certain point, or just missed it at the time. We want to bring players back together."

Szlagor says "Halo is best played when we have a large, healthy community," and views the game "as a way to grow, expand, and reconnect the Halo community."

"We want to honour the Halo legacy on PlayStation, and we're paving the way to expand our Halo universe – that's how we see it," Conn says. "And it's not a small thing. We don't and we won't take it lightly. We definitely feel the weight of it."

Campaign Evolved is a full remake of the original, but it modernises certain aspects and will even include some wholly original content, with a series of brand new missions that take place before the main story.

There's no date in place yet, but it's planned to release in 2026. Are you excited for Halo on PS5? Tell us in the comments section below.
