You’ve got to love when the universe aligns for milestones like this: the excellent arcade air combat game Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown has now sold over seven million copies since its release on 18th January, 2019.
In fact, it’s sold one million copies in the last year alone, as publisher Bandai Namco previously announced the title had topped six million units in January 2025.
In that time it’s received various post-release content, including some inspired by Top Gun: Maverick. It’s also been ported to both the PC and Switch, and received some pretty aggressive price promotions across all platforms.
Still, with the entire Ace Combat series selling 21 million units total, it means the most recent game represents a third of all franchise sales to date.
It also means there’s a strong foundation for upcoming sequel Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve to build upon, as the brand has never been more popular than it is right now.
