Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 621

@mac_da_man @themightyant in all honesty I can’t claim much credit, other than the vast amounts of time invested. I was lucky to find a boosting group where we all helped each other out on the multiplayer stuff. Probably turned a couple of years worth of playtime into a couple of months tbh.

Finally finished the grind for 10k online kills for the Seriously trophy on Gears of War: Reloaded this week and after it has put me in quite the gaming funk this last month or so, I’m looking forward to getting into something new.

Thinking of starting one of my two scheduled souls-likes for the year… and maybe returning to Resident Evil: Revelations to play it through on Infernal for the last trophy remaining. Ahhhh… it feels good to be free of that Gears grind! 😊

@somnambulance I appreciate that bud. Is your PSN the same as your name here, as if so you can send me a full-fat metroidvania sandwich and I’d be happy to accept it. 👍

Edit. If that is your PSN, I’ve just sent you a FR… if it isn’t, well… that’s another random I can add to the list 😅

@somnambulance cool, appreciate the depth you’ve gone into there. I did mean to play at least one Metroidvania per year after enjoying the two that I’ve played… but for some reason I’ve never bothered trying another. Maybe I’ll make this one my next one, while I haven’t played 50 other ones that are better 😉

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give God of War: Sons of Sparta?

@somnambulance interesting… I’ve seen that you’re a big fan of Metroidvanias from your previous comments, so a 7 from you actually sounds a decent score.

I’ve only ever played Symphony of the Night and Guacamelee (both of which I really liked), how would it compare to those two in particular?

Re: God of War: Sons of Sparta (PS5) - Series' Boldest Bet Is Also Its Slowest Burn

@Kierant202 didn’t say anything about objectivity. I’m just saying… and for arguments sake, reviewers would treat and score a 2 dollar indie game way differently to a £70 AAA game. While that 2 dollar game may score a 90 at that 2 dollar price tag and with a sole developer, I’d bet you it wouldn’t score the same if it cost £70 and was made by a team of 500. There are simply different metrics inherently applied… whether people want to believe it or not.

If you can’t see that… and I’m beginning to think that you can’t, we’ll just call it there.

Re: God of War: Sons of Sparta (PS5) - Series' Boldest Bet Is Also Its Slowest Burn

@Kierant202 There’s a reason why no one compares… let’s say Pentiment with, ooh I dunno… Ghost of Yotei. They may both have similar meta scores (both have 86 as it goes) but that in no way tells the whole story… and if you’re being honest with yourself you’d agree with that.

Similarly, I’d never compare Avowed and Sons of Sparta… crazy comparison tbh.

@OldGamer999 no one is really sticking up for the game, your platitudes are simply as transparent as a double-glazed window. We all read the Pure Xbox comments sections (it’s where I’ve gone to for my comedy fix for years), so your butter-wouldn’t-melt posts over here are read with the additional context needed to fully understand your agenda.

@Th3solution yeah, ive only just actually fired mine up and not really tested it yet with any game that is radically improved… but there was a ridiculously good price for one in the UK just before Christmas. So that, together with RAMageddon and the eve of PSSR2 meant that I simply couldnt say no.
