Re: 'The Solution Is to Get Rid of Consoles': Analyst Predicts $1,000 PS6 and a Transition to Game Streaming

psmr

@Dogbreath you just listen to whom you want to listen to to reinforce your own world-view, there has been just as many leakers tout that Sony are pulling out all the stops to provide an affordable PS6.

I could obviously be wrong but I’m guessing the discless PS6 will release at Ā£700.00. With the money that Sony make through their storefront it would be a very strange move to proceed the vast majority of its user base out of the market.

And before you say it, yes that would be below the current PS5 Pro price… and yes I can see how some people are unable to read between the lines of how that would be possible (a more powerful PS6 releasing at a price under the less powerful PS5 Pro). But the PS6 will be a mass-market device, with the inherent cost benefits of mass purchasing power of components. PS5 Pro was always a niche product. Small component ordering, small market expectations.

edit. And I’m not disagreeing that game-streaming will eventually replace gaming hardware (just refer to my comment to Gemini a few comments up from my response to you) just that you were being intentionally disingenuous by stating Ā£1000 for a PS6 as if it was a fact to support your own narrative.

@Th3solution you remember right mate, I haven’t played Lies of P yet… and am fully prepared for it to blow my doors off šŸ¤ž. About LotF (2023)… I’d actually rate the Nioh games above it in terms of actual gameplay (I haven’t played 3 yet neither). LotF (2023) is the closest thing theres been to a From Soft souls game not made by From though. Honestly, they just nailed the assignment. It is a bit easy though if you get me šŸ˜‰

Re: See More New PS5 Games from Xbox in Bumper June Showcase

Gears of War was the one Xbox franchise I felt I’d like, so I played through Reloaded in January and wasn’t that impressed tbh. In fairness, although it had a nice lick of paint it is essentially a 20 year old game , so I will give any subsequent Gears games that release on PlayStation a go… with lower expectations this time though.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 626

I managed to finish of the Devil May Cry 2 plat last night, which I’m happy about, as I have a few meaty games lined up for April and need every extra bit of time I can find to get them done. Will either make a start on World War Z: Aftermath or Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown. I won’t have a lot of spare time this weekend but I’ll hopefully get a bit done on one of these at least.

I’ll also be returning to Gears of War: Reloaded tonight for one night only, to help a couple of guys out with TDM map wins and weapon kills. It will then be finally uninstalled.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 625

Make a start on my Dante playthrough on Devil May Cry 2 and ideally get pretty far through it as I want the plat done and dusted before April and there’s a lot to do. So far I’m not finding it the travesty that most people seem to think though, as I actually thought the Lucia playthrough was alright. Happy weekend y’all!

Re: Starfield Finally Lands on PS5 in April with New DLC and Huge Updates

@Questionable_Duck @trev666 I think the ā€˜hate’ comes down to a certain minority of gamers aligned to a shade of green rather than blue shouting from the rooftops for anyone that’d listen, about it being Game of the Generation… then when it actually released it was around a 7/10. If they’d just kept their powder dry on the gushing, this hate you speak of would’ve been far less of a thing.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 624

Got back on Hellpoint last night after spending the last couple of weeks getting back on schedule with Mafia 2 and finally finishing off the Resident Evil: Revelations plat… and enjoyed my evening with it.

Gonna try and get as much of that done before starting Devil May Cry 2 next week. If I can finish off the plats on both by the start of April, I’ll be getting back on track after taking a month or so off.

Re: Xbox Targets 2027 for Project Helix Dev Kits, Calling Rumoured PS6 Release Into Question

psmr

@glennthefrog well if that is the case (and I think that you’re probably right) why anyone would want to buy what is essentially an arse-covering exercise is beyond me, when you can just swap over to PC for real, or stay in the console environment with PlayStation. No one wants a half-arsed effort… the same thing happened when people booted up their Xbox ROG Ally S/X’s for the first time and realised that they’d been sold a lie.

Re: Xbox Targets 2027 for Project Helix Dev Kits, Calling Rumoured PS6 Release Into Question

psmr

@TrollOfWar I suppose… it’s just that the product is likely to be so niche (due to the price, the fact that it is essentially a pre-built PC and not a console, their games being available everywhere… and just the negative perception that the vast majority of gamers have of the brand now), that it just doesn’t seem worth all the investment for 5-10 million extra windows users (many of which probably already use windows).

Re: Fallout 3 PS5 Is Fast Becoming One of the Worst Kept Secrets in Gaming

psmr

I was actually over Bethesda games for a while… and that was more to do with Obsidians Outer Worlds more than anything else (+ finishing off the dregs of the Fallout 4 plat). But then the Fallout show started and I wanted back in and played through Fallout: New Vegas again and fell back in love with it.

Really looking forward to this!
