Cool, cool, cool. Not interested in Undisputed and already have Ace Combat 7… but the other two will do just fine.

Brings to mind “Who watches the watchmen…” but I get it. There are many reviewers with agendas… and that just isn’t cricket!

Love this guy, he’s like Pedro Pascal… but when he was still cool.

I have been a bit surprised by how keen and positive a lot of people seemed to be about this. The original is one of the poorer souls-likes I’ve played… and I love souls-likes but the combat felt like you were swinging a polystyrene sword the size of a surf-board about. Just had no oomph.

Sure I’ll play this… but my expectations have never been any higher than the 6 it got.

Weird… because I do like boxing but have zero interest in playing a boxing game.

I’ll probably pass on this one.

Never in doubt… well, that it would come to ps5 that is. Though I did doubt whether it would release in 2026 when all the rumours circulated in late 2025.

Looks like it could be my cup of tea… might make it my fourth Xbox game this year to celebrate their anniversary. Yeah, Halo, Gears, Forza and Fable feels right.

I did pick 5 on sale a few months back… looking forward to playing it this year. If I end up liking it (which I’m pretty sure that I will), I’ll keep an eye out for a decent price on 6.

@themightyant fair enough… and pretty much the main reason that I never dip-my-toe tbh. I just have far too many games to play and sinking 1000’s of hours into one, if not more of these just doesn’t sound like a good idea.

@themightyant that surprises me as actually, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen that you put a lot of time into Gacha games… and this one is supposedly quite good. Any particular reason you’re not gonna try this?

This game appeals to me on so many levels. If my backlog wasn’t so un-manageable… and the game wasn’t so buggy, I’d have played it by now. The fact that it was recently patched and now runs great on console does take away my one issue… now back to the backlog to try and remove the other.

Actually feel a pinch of sadness about this. I worked the twilight shift at Sony Pen Coed making trinitrons back when I was doing my A-levels (a loooonnnggg time ago). It always struck me what a proud company they were… how spotless the factory floor was… and how proud they were that their TV’s were the best of the mass-market TV’s.

Well, I now feel even older than I did before reading this article, as well as sadder.. well done!

I’ll play it… as I think it’s quite serendipitous to play the big 3 (Halo, Gears & Forza 🎼) during the Xbox 25th anniversary year. I’m not particularly bothered about it though, doesn’t really look my bag… and pretty archaic without me having any nostalgia for it.

@CaptD I did play it as dlc on the OG PS3 FC3… I liked it tbh. Obvs played much the same but I did love the 80’s sci fi aesthetic

Nothing today as I’m taking the missus out but a couple of us will be starting our Gears of War: Reloaded multiplayer odyssey tomorrow.

We’ve done our solo and co-op campaign runs over the last week or so… and now starts the grind. Apart from the various match types, wins, heals etc. we’ll be needing 10,000 kills each. Even if we commit to an hour EVERY day (& there’s no way that us happening anyway tbh), we’d be at it for 3 months!

Might get a bit of free time to continue with Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver too if I’m lucky. About halfway through and while it’s clearly quite antiquated… it’s really impressive in terms of its scope for the time.

I’ve managed to avoid ever engaging with a Gacha yet… and I can’t imagine that this will do anything to change that.

I did see a third person shooter Gacha shown at the Japanese State of Play last year that I could partake in though.

Did all the mp trophies on this late last year… that was a painful 10-15 hours as I’d never played any Ace Combat’s before. Was getting absolutely nailed all day! 😅 Looking forward to starting the campaign in the next few months to finish of that plat.

@nessisonett in fairness the Greek/Spartan heritage isn’t black. They may have had black voice actors do the do for the games but that never meant Kratos was Black… or White for that matter. If we’re being culturally accurate, he should be Mediterranean ie olive-skinned, dark hair and brown eyes.

Hmmm, wouldn’t have been my pick but… I was pretty stumped tbh. Weird that they cast God of War’s Thor as Kratos… didn’t see that coming.

@StitchJones yeah don’t get me wrong, I’m well aware that it hasn’t even got a release date yet… but the less people working on it, the more burned-out those that are left will get. It can only be a negative unfortunately.

Damn, The Division 3 is one of my most anticipated games… and there’s no way this isn’t gonna have a negative effect on it 😡

The first one was alright I suppose… probably my least favourite souls-like but I’ve never played a souls-like that I didn’t enjoy… so theres that. The sequel looks better in fairness.

One of my mates just plat’d it prior to the server closure and he said that he had a good time with it. I’m kinda gutted I didn’t take the plunge on it now… 🤔

Continuing (& hopefully finishing) our co-op run of Gears of War: Reloaded on Insane. Not quite as good as I was expecting… but I’ve quite enjoyed it nonetheless.

I’ve played through XIII and XIII-2 (for the first time) this last couple of years and really enjoyed them. Scheduled to play Lightning Returns later this year to finish out the set.

@Questionable_Duck yup, I wasn’t stating that the majority of the negativity was from fanboys, as I stated this was more prevalent than pure fanboyism. The than indicates that I consider it separate.

And while there hasn’t been a glut here on this article, maybe it’s due to my preemptive comment, as there sure as **** has been a glut of comments spinning this as a win for Xbox on similar such articles.

@Questionable_Duck I think you’re missing my initial point. I was commenting on. PlayStation dedicated site that I was posting before Xbox-aligned fans try to spin this as some sort of win. Not that I only see PlayStation fans on push square and Xbox fans on pure Xbox. Probably not worth me bothering to explain though as people perceive what they want to see, not reality.

In all honesty, while there are clearly fans on either site, I tend to see more negativity towards PlayStation on Push Square and the same towards on Xbox on Pure Xbox than pure fanboyism (though there is that too no doubt).

Even if my backlog wasn’t decades-deep, I probably still wouldn’t play a demo. Lost count of the amount of games I’ve played which didn’t give a great first impression… but I went onto absolutely love. In all of those cases, I probably wouldn’t have persevered if I hadn’t actually made the purchase.

@Flurpsel I wanted that platinum unfortunately mate, so I had to put up with it. Got there in the end but it was very ropey at times and had to rebuild the PS3 database at least a couple of times.

@themcnoisy I’m certainly intrigued. If only my games room were bigger, I could have a section of the room with all 3 (there are 3 right)? I always dreamt of my own arcade… and that would be close-ish.
