Xbox and Double Fine have announced the studio's next game — an online party brawler named Kiln.
This team-based multiplayer game is all about making your own ceramic character before taking them into matches.
The trailer is probably the best way to explain it:
Kiln is a game of two halves. First, you'll use the in-game pottery wheel to create your own ceramic pot to your liking, refining its shape and choosing how it's decorated.
Next, you turn that pot into a character, and based on its attributes, it'll be defined as a particular type of vessel. Each type has its own movement behaviours and attacks.

The competitive aspect is a game called Quench, in which two teams compete to extinguish the flames of the opposing team's kiln.
You do this by scooping up water inside your character and carrying it across the map to the kiln. Of course, doing so is easier said than done, as you'll have opponents trying to smash you up before you get there.
As you play, you'll unlock more ways to create and customise your pots.
The game is confirmed for release on PS5, and it's set for release in Spring 2026.

Making this a MP game was certainly a choice...
One of the least appealing Xbox games this gen imo
I’ll probably pass on this one.
Should have just made pyschonaughts 3
Wonder if something will happen with double fine. Psycho 2 didnt do a ton, firekeeper had like 40,000 sales and cant imagine this is gonna do much at all
Listen, I applaud Double Fine for thinking outside the box here and trying something diff. This industry has been "samey" and "safe" for awhile. But a pottery MP game?
Brutal Legend was outside the box and different. Featured licensed music, iconic real world musicians etc. But stayed true to a video game in form with its mechanics/gameplay.
So why can't they think differently but make something more like Brutal legend instead of Pottery? lol even sounds crazy to the ear.
Psychonauts and Keeper seem like very cool games, but this one is not for me
It just feels like plants Vs zombies garden warfare but with pots instead!
Why do I have a feeling it will go the same way as Bleeding Edge!
It's a cool premise and being able to sculpt your own pottery to use in-game is cool, but it's kind of a shame it's a multiplayer only game.
During the showcase for this game, when talking about character creation, one of the devs said "i love medium jugs". I'm more of an a** man. I can't relate to this developer at all. Not one bit for some reason. And idk why. Oh yeah, and they are making a pottery game too apparently.
Oooooooookay then… I love Double Fine, but multiplayer/team/co-op is an instant no.
“Looks like every other multiplayer game out there.”
Whether or not its my personal cup of tea, I applaud the creativity.
Not really my bag but I’m all for wacky ideas.
Good state of pl...err direct...err developer direct, I’m interested in three out of four shame that Forza 99.99% won’t support VR which is pretty much the only racing games mode that I play.
I think it looks great
As much as I love the style and vibe of the game, it's pretty much dead on arrival.
I remember this one from the Double Fine documentary. Really surprised to see it actually being released
