@Perturbator The deluxe edition has a great steelbook, although it’s a bit overpriced I think… But I agree ; another cover with a tough white guy holding his weapon. Blech… Especially goofy since the game has incredible art design! At least you can see the weird monster face/hole in the background.
Absolutely loved the demo, and have been thinking about the game ever since. The art design is fantastic, as is the music, and the mystery/puzzle dynamic is really good. Loved the combat too; challenging but rewarding on brutal difficulty. Clicked on this review with cautious optimism, and so glad to see that the final product matches what I saw in the demo. Deluxe edition preorder validated! Can’t wait to get lost in this game!
Forgot about Metal Eden! Really enjoyed the demo, despite the performance issues. Hope they ironed those out; there’s a great game in there…
Said it before, but this month is ridiculous for games coming out… I’ve got Hell is Us and Cronos on order. Can someone invent a machine that stops time so I can play all these games?!
@WolfyTn No, but that does look good. Ordered Hell is Us, Cronos: The New Dawn, Silent Hill f, and Kirby Air Riders. And if Metroid Prime 4: Beyond actually releases this year, then I guess I’ll be breaking the bank for that too… 😅
Will be waiting on the physical for Switch 2. I’m excited to play this, but I’ve already invested too much in preordering like 4 new games to play through November. Probably will play the first game again too!
Just delay the game and put the finished build on the disc. Obviously it’s too late, and I’m sure that’s easier said than done, with deadlines and such, but good grief. If Stellar Blade can do it, so can others.
September is totally insane. I am pumped to play Silksong, but I’ll be jamming on Hell is Us, Cronos, and Silent Hill f—(good lord that’s too many games)—so I’ll probably wait for the inevitable physical release for Silksong. There’s no rush to play games, thankfully, but I often feel the pressure to support devs with day one purchases. Is that crazy? Don’t answer… 😵💫
These weapon trailers are an awesome spectacle to behold, but also make the game look way too easy. Hope they get the balance right for those higher difficulties!
Just got to the second location in the demo, and I came to say that I am absolutely loving this game so far!
Atmosphere and art direction: nailed it! Love the mix of contemporary/futuristic tech and ancient temples/weapons. Menus are limited while playing, which helps with immersion.
Story: interesting so far, with lots of lore to dig into. Civil war meets demonic monster invasion.
Combat: fun and engaging, but needs some tweaks, particularly with the healing pulse. Monsters are fun to battle, and their linking mechanic is challenging, especially when there’s more than one monster. Playing on merciless btw.
Navigation: love the menu interface, very Fallout/Zelda, and really enjoy how story threads and clues update as you play. I am not at all bothered by a lack of map or handholding, but I’m a Souls guy, so used to this. Love the compass item, very immersive.
Puzzles: relatively straightforward so far, but enjoying scanning for clues and navigating the items. Can see it getting more complex. Item collection for puzzle-solving is very old-school survival horror!
Excited to keep playing tonight to finish the demo. Will be purchasing for sure, and hoping for a physical release (any word?)!!
Team Ninja rarely misses. Platinum may have a miss or two, but also some epic, amazing games. With these two at the helm it pretty much guarantees greatness!
Awesome, can’t wait to try this! Everything I’ve seen looks really interesting, but… will it be fun to play? Will it perform well? Questions will be answered!
@Dman10 It’s a big deal when the majority of third-party developers are no longer making actual carts with data. The key-cards force you to put a cart in your system to play a digital game—worst of both worlds. Plus Switch 2 has poor storage and went with a new (and expensive) storage format. It is not a vocal minority, I promise you; Nintendo fans are not happy, and are voting with their wallets.
Glad to hear folks are enjoying it. Now just waiting on that Nintendolife review to tell us about Switch 2 performance. May be the rare pixel-art game I pick up on PlayStation, though!
So tired of people complaining about “soulslike” over-saturation. There are SO many games out there to play. If you’re not interested, than don’t play it, and then shut up about soulslikes while you’re at it.
Looks amazing, had to stop watching halfway to avoid too many spoilers. Have to say, love that the game doesn’t take place on a space station the whole time!
We DO NOT need a remaster of Dark Souls 3 (performs beautifully on PS5).
A new Armored Core would be cool, but honestly I would love them to switch up the formula a bit. I loved the new one when I first got it, and it is fantastic, but I fell off because the mission-based formula just felt a bit dated and repetitive to me… I would honestly love to see them bring more exploration and an open world to Armored Core—there is SO much that could be done with it!
Was hoping this would be better, but not super surprised it’s a ‘meh’.
@quintumply How was performance? The NintendoLife review mentioned some issues on Switch 2…
Still need to play Ragnarok.. The original God of War reboot was absolutely fantastic, not sure how I haven’t played the sequel yet… But I’ll play whatever they put out!
They’ve pretty much blown it on the TV adaptation of Last of Us Part II, in my opinion, so yeah get back to the games Druckman. High expectations for Heretic Prophet—it looks amazing!

@Tatarimokke @northern_munkey Thanks! Last I’d checked Amazon had nothing; they must have posted the day of the demo release.

Re: Sick Sci-Fi Shooter Metal Eden Secures September Release Date on PS5
September is stacked in a way that is starting to feel ridiculous… Every single game cannot release in September and be successful…
That said, I really enjoyed the demo for this game, and hoping that the delay improved the game’s performance considerably 🤞🏼
