Finished mission one in the demo and loved it. Not usually a big FPS guy, but loved the vibes of this game, similar to Ruiner. Great gameplay systems, great enemy design, fun platforming. Framerate on my Pro was just fine. The camera acceleration does take some getting used to, but not a dealbreaker; hopefully they can patch in a way to turn it on/off. I will definitely be buying Metal Eden. 👍🏼👍🏼
Edit: Finished the demo, and it definitely has issues. The zipline section in mission two had pretty terrible frame drops, and even crashed on me. Glad they delayed this.
Wow, amazing that they’re still working so hard on this game. I really enjoyed it when I played it, a year or so after launch, but never finished it. Between the Pro update (which I haven’t tried yet) and this new overhaul, it sounds like I’m due for a second play-through! Sweet!
Sold, add to cart! The Silent Hill 2 remake was a masterpiece; I have full faith in these guys, just like I did before that game released. Bloober has leveled tf up! Love seeing the outdoor environments here too—yay it’s not all just corridors on a spaceship! Did I mention I am sold?
Not sure I agree entirely here… I am a “core gamer”, and the prospect of a more powerful Switch is all I really wanted. Upgraded Switch games, and current-gen (sort of) first party games that look and perform better. Plus, it’s a relatively perfect form-factor already. I see where he’s coming from with the innovation, but… Hey, we’ve got mouse mode!
I really like the art style; the bright colors and sort-of retro style are pretty unique. Gameplay looks good, even though multiplayer extraction shooters aren’t my thing. I wish it had solo play…
My problem with this stuff has always been the fact that Sony locks multiplayer behind an overpriced paywall. If I could drop $40 on this, and then like $2 a month for online at MOST (don’t need extra games), I would consider trying it out.
Absolutely loved Remake. The original game is great, but REALLY dated at this point. Remake isn’t perfect, but it did a fantastic job of bringing the FF7 universe and characters to life, and got off to a bangin’ start. Perfect length too, sans a few small areas that went on too long. Loved it!
Rebirth, on the other hand, feels overstuffed to me. Way too much open-world busy work; would have preferred a bit more linear. I still need to finish it; ran out of steam after Gold Saucer. Hopefully this summer…
I was super bummed to find out Duskbloods is a multiplayer game, but having now read the interview with Miyazaki, it sounds interesting and does appeal to me more. Plus, I don’t subscribe to PS Plus, but do subscribe to NSO because it is so much cheaper, so there’s a good chance I’d actually play this. I trust in Miyazaki, and I’m willing to give Duskbloods a chance.
I don’t think it’ll be episode one. It’s a huge game, and there’s a chunk of story they can cover before the scene. They’re gonna take their time, I imagine!
Love it! This game is really giving me Annihilation vibes, with this “no one has made it out alive of this mysterious zone that we’re exploring to stop the end of the world” story (the book, not the lame movie adaptation)
Bloodborne certainly isn’t without its flaws, but my god, what a game! Hands down my favorite FromSoftware game. The original Dark Souls comes very close, but Bloodborne inches it out because of the incredible art direction and lore, and the emphasis on horror—f***ing werewolves and Lovecraft cosmic madness!!!
I’d certainly love a remaster. Last time I booted it up I was definitely feeling the age, being an early PS4 game. A remaster to clean up the framerate and boost resolution would be fantastic. And while they’re at it… let’s have a sequel! Miyazaki won’t direct, of course, but he would oversee it very closely. 🤞🏼
Very tempted, but gonna wait and get it cheaper down the road. I’m definitely excited to play as a samurai/shinobi assassin though, and that historical Japanese setting is callin’ my name. Too many games though…
I played Origins for a bit, really liked it, but then got distracted and onto something else.
The statue is really cool, I think, and not at all a bad inclusion. Diggin’ the keychain too (parallels the one we got for DS1). But the other crap? NOPE. AND! with no physical game in there?!? Collector’s editions are for the niche gamers that want physical stuff. I get that people with digital PS5’s may still want the statues, but then they really need to release a digital and physical edition. Welcome to our digital future… 🙄
Not even going to watch this trailer, already sold, no spoilers please! The original Death Stranding was an incredible experience; a work of artistic genius in gaming form. I imagine this will only exceed my expectations. Best part is that it comes out during Summer vacation yeaaaaaasah!
The Collector’s Edition looks lovely, but no disc… hmmmm…
Considering this is more than the holiday sale price… nah! But I’d absolutely be tempted by a future sale based on this new list price, i.e., $300 or less
So Overture is a standalone piece where we start fresh, or are we going back in time leveled up with all our gear through some magic puppet portal or something? And accompanied by an NPC partner during combat? Hmmm, questions afoot…
@nessisonett respect your opinion, but gonna have to STRONGLY disagree. Demon’s Souls did so much right: world-building, atmosphere, creature design, combat, challenge, and innovative multiplayer. Calling it crap just seems nuts to me… I am curious how you have enjoyed (or not enjoyed) other games in their catalog?
I am excited about the (theoretical but basically confirmed) Switch mouse functionality because it seems like a logical and intuitive way to use the controller in addition to its normal functionality.
I wouldn’t be remotely interested in a PlayStation-branded mouse, especially because it would probably cost $100 with the way Sony has been doing things.
@LiamCroft Will always take a mini review over nothing at all! Always appreciate PushSquare’s insight, even if the reviews end up shorter.
@DrVenture69 I thought the level design was solid in Lilies, but some of the bosses were a bit much. Lots of spongy, inflated health bars. Still a fantastic game though!
Very excited for this sequel! Based on other (longer) reviews, it seems like they refined it in all the right places. Ordered this physically for Switch, but may end up double-dipping digitally to play this on PS5 while I wait.
I fell off the first game because of the stiff movement and slow, laborious gameplay.
Edit: upon rereading the review, it sounds like the combat pace has livened up a bit. I'd love a demo to test it out, as it sounds like the sequel has improved the game a bit.
This sounds great, and happy to hear that the gameplay is moving away from “keep moving and strafe”. Wasn’t a fan of Eternal, but this I can get behind!
Cool trailer for Silent Hill f… the f stands for… flowers? Curious how this’ll relate… a florist whose nightmares involve the flower garden she buried her lover in? Hmmmm… Silent Hill!
Wow yeah looks fantastic. Dude’s health bar didn’t drop the whole time… did they get gud or is the game in god mode for the trailer… the world will never know!
I just read the news about Bluepoint, and my god, how utterly disappointing it is. What a generation… some truly fantastic games mixed with this unprecedented catastrophe of waster time, talent, and money. Thank goodness for my backlog!
@MARl0 Holy sh*t its massively disappointing, in so many ways… Like you said, all this time wondering what Bluepoint was up to, and now… nothing. The only silver lining is that they’re not closing the studio. But wow, Sony management has become utterly clueless. Dark times for PlayStation…
@CJD87 absolutely, 100% what you said. PS6 launch title. I wasn’t planning on buying a PS5 at launch; then came the Demon’s Souls remake trailer and it was game over, take my money. I would preorder a $800 PS6 in a heartbeat if it launched with a Bluepoint developed Bloodborne remake.
Lynch as an absolute legend and, for me personally and artistically, an inspiration in so many ways. He lived loud, proud, weird, and with no regrets, and he will be greatly missed.

@Mostik I’m just a bit into chapter 5, and this game just continues to blow my mind. Enjoy!
