I am excited about the (theoretical but basically confirmed) Switch mouse functionality because it seems like a logical and intuitive way to use the controller in addition to its normal functionality.
I wouldn’t be remotely interested in a PlayStation-branded mouse, especially because it would probably cost $100 with the way Sony has been doing things.
@LiamCroft Will always take a mini review over nothing at all! Always appreciate PushSquare’s insight, even if the reviews end up shorter.
@DrVenture69 I thought the level design was solid in Lilies, but some of the bosses were a bit much. Lots of spongy, inflated health bars. Still a fantastic game though!
Very excited for this sequel! Based on other (longer) reviews, it seems like they refined it in all the right places. Ordered this physically for Switch, but may end up double-dipping digitally to play this on PS5 while I wait.
I fell off the first game because of the stiff movement and slow, laborious gameplay.
Edit: upon rereading the review, it sounds like the combat pace has livened up a bit. I'd love a demo to test it out, as it sounds like the sequel has improved the game a bit.
This sounds great, and happy to hear that the gameplay is moving away from “keep moving and strafe”. Wasn’t a fan of Eternal, but this I can get behind!
Cool trailer for Silent Hill f… the f stands for… flowers? Curious how this’ll relate… a florist whose nightmares involve the flower garden she buried her lover in? Hmmmm… Silent Hill!
Wow yeah looks fantastic. Dude’s health bar didn’t drop the whole time… did they get gud or is the game in god mode for the trailer… the world will never know!
I just read the news about Bluepoint, and my god, how utterly disappointing it is. What a generation… some truly fantastic games mixed with this unprecedented catastrophe of waster time, talent, and money. Thank goodness for my backlog!
@MARl0 Holy sh*t its massively disappointing, in so many ways… Like you said, all this time wondering what Bluepoint was up to, and now… nothing. The only silver lining is that they’re not closing the studio. But wow, Sony management has become utterly clueless. Dark times for PlayStation…
@CJD87 absolutely, 100% what you said. PS6 launch title. I wasn’t planning on buying a PS5 at launch; then came the Demon’s Souls remake trailer and it was game over, take my money. I would preorder a $800 PS6 in a heartbeat if it launched with a Bluepoint developed Bloodborne remake.
Lynch as an absolute legend and, for me personally and artistically, an inspiration in so many ways. He lived loud, proud, weird, and with no regrets, and he will be greatly missed.
Finished the demo. It was… fine. Has some interesting ideas, but not a must play by any means. Environments, at least in the demo, were super boring as well. Meh
Nothing about this looks exciting, but I’ll definitely try the demo. I thought that way about Stellar Blade too, and boy did that demo make me do a 180, and what an incredible time I had with is on release!
So you never know…
Call me nuts but Bioshock 2 has always been my favorite. WAY better gameplay and overall just a fun romp, with a solid plot twist. Obviously it wouldn’t exist without the first game, so credit where credit is due. Infinite, on the other hand… I was never a big fan of… so reading these comments by Levine isn’t surprising. Still, very much looking forward to Judas!
Hopefully this hire is not for the upcoming Housemarque release, but the subsequent one. Seems like a reveal would be imminent for the game they’ve been working on for the last 4 years… 🤞🏼
100% willing to state that this remake is astounding. But… I just couldn’t get into it enough to finish, and I loved the original! I don’t know… too much action? Not enough horror? VIllage on the other hand—three times through!
As price points increase, that’s where the risk lies in folks jumping ship to PC, right? That was the conversation that seemed to come out of the Pro launch, anyways. We’ll see how many of those console gamers put their money where their mouth is and go PC instead of PS6 if it’s deemed too expensive. Personally, the convenience and “ready to play” factor of consoles will always win out for me in the end, but I imagine there are lots of people comfortable enough with computers to go that route, especially if PlayStation exclusives are launching on PC simultaneously.
Great to see Black Myth: Wukong get some recognition here, after being mysteriously absent from the staff list lol. I’m playing through it now on my Pro, and what a fantastic game with absolutely beautiful art direction and solid gameplay and exploration—really enjoying it!
But I guess we all agree that Astro Bot is the GOAT for PlayStation: Year 2024!
Not a great reply, given the comment he was responding to. Representation matters, period. Allowing people to see themselves in the games they play, and all literature we consume, is vitally important to building a healthy culture. Folks that say “we don’t need gender or race in games” probably have not experienced gender dismorphia, or racism, or sexism. Yuck…
I wish I could get in on the Atlus fun, but I just don’t have the time (or patience) for massive RPG’s like this anymore. Metaphor looks beautiful and sounds interesting; happy for all the folks that have been able to enjoy it.
Team Asobi, for sure. They brought an extremely polished experience that is packed to the brim with fantastic gameplay and so much joy. Most of all, Astrobot has filled a void in PlayStation’s recent catalog; it was very much needed, for new and old PlayStation fans alike. Standing ovation for Team Asobi!
Personally, I’d put this in my top 3, but really glad to see it make the list. It’s a phenomenal remake; Bloober really knocked it out of the park. I really hope this success leads to a remake for 1 and 3 as well.
Had to take a big break from Rebirth after about 40 hours; it feels very overstuffed to me. I adore the original, but yeah, it’s all a bit much. Also some of it is just soooooo corny… Still a great game though, which I do plan on finishing. But so many games I’d put above Rebirth this year… Astrobot, Stellar Blade, Wukong, Animal Well, Silent Hill 2… and I haven’t played any of the other big JRPGs, so there’s those too. #7 seems correct.
The Silent Hill 2 remake is utterly fantastic, and is my number one as well. Beautifully disturbing and filled with amazing detail and visceral combat, it is a must-play for horror fans. Bloober did it, indeed!
I’d go Silent Hill 2 or Wukong, from what I’ve played. I know Atlus is killing it in the art dept, though
@Gremio108 @Tchunga Animal Well is something special! The atmosphere and overall vibe are next level. That title music alone!
I haven’t played DD2 yet, but I find it hard to believe that its better than both Wukong and Stellar Blade, two INCREDIBLE action games… I guess I need to give it a go, but man I’m just so tired of medieval fantasy…
Wukong on my Pro until we leave to see the family, but bringing my Switch so finally jumping into Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, with a few sessions of the EXCELLENT Shogun Showdown
Anyone who’s played this know if the Pro patch is live yet? I bought this at launch to support the dev and haven’t gotten to it yet, hoping to jump in once the patch is confirmed
This will be a MONSTER hit!
I’ve played a bit of Monster Hunter, certainly not a huge fan, but dang does this look good.m every time I see footage. 60 fps and day one Pro patch is all I needed to hear!
