Update []:
Following this past weekend's leak, Hollow Knight: Silksong developer Team Cherry has now confirmed the indie title's price point and release times for 4th September. The game will indeed cost $19.99 / €19.99, and will be available from 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST / 4pm CST.
Original Story: The first Hollow Knight, offering well over 50 hours of excellent Metroidvania action for just $15, is widely considered to be one of the best deals in gaming, up there with The Orange Box. As long as its sequel can match that quality and play time, it appears Silksong will also be a contender for the best deal on PS5, PS4.
Launching next week on 4th September, the USA retailer GameStop had a product page for Hollow Knight: Silksong tagged at a price of $19.99. Now, reliable leaker Billbil-Kun claims in a Dealabs report this is indeed the official price following "extensive research" into the matter.

They suggest the pricing for the game, at least on PC, is as follows:
- USA
- $19.99
- UK
- £16.75
- Europe
- €19.50
Again, the leaker claims these prices are for the PC version, but as there's rarely any difference between console and PC pricing, you can expect similar costs on PS5, PS4. If you want a physical edition, it looks like you'll have to wait until next year.

Best financial move I've seen in an age, gonna have zero guilt purchasing this one 🙌
Definitely one hell of a value if you aren't burnt out on these games. Although most of them are far less than full retail AAA fare.
Even so 20 is still low with those considerations. So kudos for that. That will absolutely generate some sales for those they convert from the just mildly interested but had been leaning toward passing on it crowd.
I expect to pay zero in "pounds" cos in fed up of Metroidvanias and especially hard ones 😀
I thought the game would be $25 or $30, but I have no problem with $20
£16 in the UK apparently. If true, that is insanely good value. If Mario Kart World is on one end of the spectrum (GREED!) then Silksong is on the other end.
If £16.75 is correct that's insane. I was expecting to pay 30 quid and would have had no problem doing so.
I got about 40 hours out of the first one and was nowhere near 100% completion either
I'll play it on Game Pass to see if I click with it and then buy it later.
That's such good value holey moley
Will happily buy it both digitally and physically~!
Normally I would be worried that it's a smaller scope game, but then I went to check the original Hollow Knight price and it was $15.
Absolutely insane value, god bless Team Cherry.
Day 0.5 purchase.
I might actually buy it over playing it on gamepass since the PS D-pad is so much better
Will be waiting on the physical for Switch 2. I’m excited to play this, but I’ve already invested too much in preordering like 4 new games to play through November. Probably will play the first game again too!
I didn’t beat the first one because I was put off by side scrollers.. but something changed when I played the Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.. I platinumed it I had so much fun.. then I got 100% on both Ori games.. now I’m gonna buy this game before I even restart the original one because I support any company putting out a hyped game for only $20.. Team Cherry is goated for this for real!!
@ear_wig would Outer Worlds 2 be one of them? Just curious as I’m excited for that game
@SeaDaVie The game is so cheap that you wouldn't even be saving any money by playing and finishing this game on Game Pass.
Delaying the physical copy is a smart move. I am sure there are many diehard fans who will want to play it right away and will then pay again to get it physical. And at twenty dollars for the digital, who can blame them.
The happiest purchase imaginable. With new games being £60 or £70, I have to shift things around to justify that purchase, so very rarely buy new games. This is a crazy good price for a game that doesn’t even really need to try hard to get my attention.
@WolfyTn Same, I was generally turned off by Metroidvanias until I finally played Ori and the Will of the Wisps and it changed EVERYTHING for me. Loved Lost Crown and Metroid Dread, so I'll happily give Silksong a try now despite generally disliking Hollow Knight.
Absolutely love to see it, rarely buy games day one (for obvious reasons) but this is so absurdly easy to support. Love TC.
That's $5 more than the first game! Inflation is ruining EVERYTHING
@WolfyTn No, but that does look good. Ordered Hell is Us, Cronos: The New Dawn, Silent Hill f, and Kirby Air Riders. And if Metroid Prime 4: Beyond actually releases this year, then I guess I’ll be breaking the bank for that too… 😅
I didn't enjoyed the 1st Hollow Knight that much so i'm gonna skip this one. But what i love from AA / indie games like this is they always affordable from day 1. I bought NG Ragebound for $13 and Shinobi for $10 and i don't have any regret at all. Heck, i don't mind pay a bit more since they offer fun and polished games.
Gotta get through Shinobi first, but I'm sure $20 is a great deal considering how much game Hollow Knight was. I felt like I stole that game, but I've made up for it by getting it on like five platforms.
Can't wait.
@HallowMoonshadow Same.
Glad to see a sequel that hasn’t gone and doubled the price of the original these days. It feels like indies have gone from $15 to $30, AAs went from $30 to $50, and AAAs went from $60 to $70 and above now. The last five or so years have been rough for the price hikes.
It’s wonderful to see a decision on pricing that seems cheaper now than the industry standard, especially from a game that could’ve easily sold itself at a much higher cost. I reckon Silksong could’ve sold itself at full AAA cost if they wanted to do that. Really looking forward to supporting Team Cherry on this!
A bang for your buck, unlike some AAA titles. I'm more excited for indie titles now compared to any western AAA games 😃
Let's see, already bought ninja gaiden ragebound, shinobi aov, next I'll buy hollow knight silksong, mina the hollower, terminator 2D no fate in the end of october, rogue prince of persia (when it's discounted and after I finish silksong), primal planet and many others indies and AA games. It's like western AAA games is done for me.

@TruthSpiller2025 Whoa the guy who is only hyped about CoD and Fifa and who said turn-based games should've died with PS2 isn't looking forward to Silksong, guys. Everyone cancel your preorders. He hath spoken, lol.
Looking forward to it. I recently started playing Hollow Knight again. I left it at 88% done but have now got to 93% after getting a few more collectables and defeating Traitor Lord. Screw that guy!
If it just crashes constantly, like the first one, can I get a refund?
And the game will be as big as first Hollow Knight. Buying this on PS5 and Switch 2. 😎
Not gonna lie, I have never been a huge fan of Hollow Knight, I think it's slightly overrated. But I've always been impressed by its price point.
You can find $40 half-baked mediocre games that you will finish in less than 8 hours. And on the other hand, there's Hollow Knight...
That's a very nice price and if it wasn't for my 5 million backlog games I would buy it at launch, but alas...
I tried Hollow Knight - started it a couple of times, even - but just really couldn't get into it. Compared to other metroidvanias I liked (Blasphemous, for example), I just found it way too limited? Is it just a real slow burn start, or am I missing something here?
That would be great if these prices turn out to be accurate for console! There are instances when PC games especially indie ones are slightly more expensive on consoles but even so it would be a great price.
I expect around a £5/$ uplift for consoles.
@darylb24
There are some rumors going around that the game will release on PS Plus. Kinda makes sense since it is releasing on GamePass too.
@NathanKang I’m going to be boycotting this so hard bro. Was hyped for this gahm but now I can see it’s just a cAsH gRabb! #Silksongate##
That's very consumer friendly. They could have charged $50 and people would have gladly paid it.
Very good price but i'll still be waiting for an inevitable ps+ appearance.
This is going to be a fantastic experience and that price is honestly pretty incredible... I think they could have charged as much as £40 at launch and still sold alot of copies!
Hats off to them for doing this, not often you'll get a game as big and deep as this for £20 at launch.
I get the audience for this game can be abit much at times (just like other fandoms in this space) but this is going to be a fantastic game! Really looking forward to it! The year has been STACKED!
I still need to play the first one, have it downloaded but yet to start it.
@J2theEzzo I found it to be massively overrated too. Great visuals and music, but that's about it.
So, that's about $100 Canadian. Not a bad deal, eh? Can't wait to play
N.i.c.e. that's a good pice.and it's cheap.you know you should expect dlcs also.word up son
@MrPeanutbutterz Yeah, like the vibe is cool, and it's all very nicely presented, but in terms of gameplay, I just didn't find it to be very gripping. I'd rather play Nine Sols 😉
@J2theEzzo Oooohhh I must go back to Nine Sols! Think I'm on the third proper stage.
@J2theEzzo Not really sure what you mean by limited, but I'd say the game truely opens up when you get the dash ability. You can explore a lot of the areas in an order of your own choosing. The movement gets better and better with each new ability as well.
Where is my GBP?
@Perturbator it's a very nice price and if it wasn't for my 5k debt, i would buy it at launch, but alas... 🤣👍
@BattleMonkey OK OK, you win!
@Acquiescence small indie company vs big corporation who all purpose is to make profit and sneeze how much money they can from the consumer capitalism
@KoopaTheGamer I guess combat felt a bit bland to start? A basic swipe, a simple jump and that's your lot. I know the genre is all about a power creep, but it was just not enough to keep me interested in playing.
@Perturbator Not sure what i've won (apart from all the games and related bits i bought with the money 🤣) But don't mind being penniless for 5 years as i have one hell of a backlog to try to get through 👍
