Re: Talking Point: What Do You Think of the PS5 Pro, Three Weeks Later?

ear_wig

I love it so far! But I also bought an LG B4 OLED TV with VRR on sale as well, to support Aaron’s point…
Games I’ve tried so far:
Stellar Blade ☑️ Looks and runs fantastic
FF7 Rebirth ☑️ Looks a LOT better and runs fantastic
RE2 Remake ☑️ Runs at 60fps with no dips in ray tracing mode, but that may be the VRR TV… hard to tell there
Waiting to play Alan Wake 2 to see if they further enhance performance mode, although it sounds like quality is beautiful if you can handle 30fps. I played quality for Silent Hill 2 before the Pro and it was just fine.
Ordered Spider-Man 2 and Last of Us Part 1 on sale from direct, so looking forward to trying those out.
With TV and console it was a lot of dough, but sold my OGPS5, some PS1 games, and my Astrobot controller on Ebay and that about paid for the console.

@UnlimitedSevens Understood the assignment indeed. A-f’ing-plus! Such an amazing remake. It seemed like an absolutely impossible task to remake, let alone improve upon, such an iconic horror game, but holy sh*t they did it. And yup, I sincerely hope they get contracted to remake the original and 3. They’ve got the assets ready to go!

Re: Silent Hill 2 Patch 1.06 Fails to Fix PS5 Pro Problems

ear_wig

Boy that’s really disappointing… Glad I went ahead and finished my first play through before I had the Pro. I feel kind of bad for Bloober, just when they were finally turning things around and riding high… Being more transparent about the challenges with fixing the issue might help. Anyways, I hope that they can work it out and people can go back to praising the game!

Re: Silent Hill 2 PS5 Pro Issues Are Being Worked on, Dev Confirms

Disappointing, for sure. Bloober finally got their sh*t together and released a fantastic game, and now this…
I sincerely hope they’re able to rectify this with an updated patch, which we now know they’re working on. The game is utterly fantastic and deserves to shine on the Pro! They should talk to Shift Up, because that Pro patch is how it’s done! ☑️

Re: Review: PS5 Pro - An Impressive Yet Inconsistent Upgrade

Finally set up my Pro today (w/disk drive) and it absolutely DOES NOT need a stand to orient vertically. Unless you have a pet or kid that may knock it over, this thing feels very secure as-is. I may get something down the road, but for now it is FINE! For anyone who was thinking of buying that overpriced stand Sony is selling—don’t!!!

Re: Sea of Stars Now Has Combat System Its Developer Always Wanted

ear_wig

These seem like fantastic updates. I agree that the combat became stale, largely because of how combat points work. I enjoyed the first 7-8 hours and then got bored (wasn’t crazy about the story or characters either). Will jump back into my Switch version eventually, hopefully with improved combat.

Re: Hands On: Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy 16, and Metaphor: ReFantazio All Get a Boost on PS5 Pro

ear_wig

@JB_Whiting Bummed to hear Silent Hill 2 is having issues on the Pro. My question though, is have they actually updated it with a patch yet? I know all the other “Pro enhanced” games have had a patch released, and I don’t think SH2 has yet, to my knowledge… I wonder if they preemptively added the tag without having released the update yet? Hmmm…
Damn is that remake awesome though! Been a LONG time since a horror game has hit as hard as the Silent Hill 2 remake.

Re: PS5 Pro Packaging Flaunts Its Disc-Free Nature

Grudgingly purchased and have a disc drive waiting for my Pro to arrive…

Babe: “what came in the mail?”
Me: “uhhh… a disc drive for the PS5 Pro”
Babe: “doesn’t the PS5 you already own have a disc drive?”
Me: “yeah, but babe, the Pro blah blah blah”
Babe: 🙄 [eye-roll heard down the block]

Re: Resident Evil 2, 3, 7 PS5 Physical Versions Coming This December

ear_wig

@Nintendo4Sonic Did you play the PS5 updates? They definitely did not run at 60fps with ray tracing, at least in my experience. RE3 in particular was dropping frames like crazy when I tried the update after it was released. Maybe it’s better now, but it was a frustrating experience for me…

Re: Like It or Not, This Is Why PS5 Pro Doesn't Have a Disc Drive

ear_wig

I totally get how the disc drive being optional could be perceived as consumer friendly, giving us all more options. But the $80 (US) price tag for the drive feels ridiculous, especially given that the price difference between the current slim digital/disc is only $50. If they’re trying to be consumer friendly, then match this price with the Pro, and sell it bundled with the drive for $750. And then on top of that they want another $30 for a stand to make the console stand up vertically like it is shown on the f***ing box it ships in… Ugh… Sony has been watching Apple and taking notes… 🙄
