Re: Xbox Game Pass May Make Devs 'Wage Slaves', Says Ex-PlayStation Exec

UltimateOtaku91

@Godot25 I would say subscription service are a part of the problem, at the end of my comment I did say that live service, subscription and ai are the problem for the industry. Now obviously that's just my opinion and I may be wrong until we all get concrete figures and more devs speak up, but for me gaming just doesn't feel the same as it used to back during the PS1 to PS2 gens, there's more lay offs, studio closures, ai slop on the stores, absurd game price increases, this big focus on streaming and subscription based services, live service games taking priority at most big publishers, gacha games galore and more day one releases that are full of bugs and performance issues on release. There's a big underlying issue here for the industry and we need to know what it is before it's too late. So for me personally for now I'm saying live service, ai and subscriptions are at fault but I fully respect if you don't feel the same.

Some people fail to grasp that if something isn't good for the industry then eventually it ends up not being good for us gamers. The more people who rely on subscriptions means less money for devs which in return means more dev closures meaning less games for us gamers, also less games that we actually own as these games are only rented. The less money these devs actually make from game sales will effect their budgets for their next game which could result in a lesser quality game or rushed development.

So keep championing gamepass all you like just because it's value for you but some of us actually care about the bigger picture.

Live Service, Subscriptions and AI will kill the industry.

Re: Sony Likens Its Fledgling Anime Business to the PS1 Era

UltimateOtaku91

I think now that Anime is so popular in the west instead of just focussing on making games into Anime, how about making more Anime into games. Surely it works both ways and both will benefit, and I don't mean mobile gacha games either, I'm talking full paid console games like the SAO games from Bandai. An open world Dr Stone game would be epic, A Demon Slayer, Shield Hero or Reincarnated as a Slime RPG would be great as well.

Re: Sony Likens Its Fledgling Anime Business to the PS1 Era

@EfYI Any anime made by Aniplex (Fate, Sword Art Online, Demon Slayer, Full Metal Alchemist etc) A-1 Pictures (Solo Levelling, Black Butler, Kaguya Sama etc) , Boundary (new studio) and Clover Works (Promised Never land, Spy Family, My Dress Up Darling etc). There's a lot more anime they've produced other than those I've mentioned.

They also own Crunchyroll and of course Funimation which got absorbed into Crunchyroll. They own the most English dubbed licenses, and have the biggest western anime subscription service. And yeah those animes I mentioned previously will be on there as well, hope that helps.

Re: A Quote from a Sony Exec Is Causing a Hubbub Among PS5 Fans Again

UltimateOtaku91

@SMJ I see, but who manufactures the PC in a box? If its multiple companies then that's just going to confuse people especially the casuals.

Also can't see Sony being happy with people having multiple choices to where they buy the games from, they would massively lose out on revenue for third party games. If store A offers a game £10 cheaper than the PlayStation store then who in their right mind would still buy it from the PlayStation store just to play it on the exact same system.

I can tell you now if that was to happen then Steam and Epic would be the stores everyone goes to, may as well close the PlayStation store altogether and Sony becomes just a publisher.

Re: A Quote from a Sony Exec Is Causing a Hubbub Among PS5 Fans Again

@cragis0001 They are already doing that with the Portal via cloud streaming Extra/Premium catalog games. You can buy a portal and play Playstation 5 games without ever owning a PS5, it's pretty much a standalone device. I don't know if Sony will push this to mobile phones as they want it as an incentive to invest into their hardware (or accessory as they call the Portal).

Re: A Quote from a Sony Exec Is Causing a Hubbub Among PS5 Fans Again

UltimateOtaku91

@SMJ So how are hundreds of millions of console players going to be playing games in the future? Please don't say everyone is going to be on PC as that won't happen.

Also a lot of developers rely on Console for most of their sales, without consoles a lot of developers will be going bust. Consoles will be around for many generations especially from Nintendo and Sony, it will be an all digital future for sure but there will be a box under a TV for us to play games on.

Re: PlayStation the Driving Force Behind Xbox's Helldivers 2 Port

UltimateOtaku91

@cragis0001 But Nintendo bounced back straight away, with Microsoft the Xbox One was a failure and then their next console failed even more, now their exclusives are coming to Playstation and some to Nintendo so they are pretty much guaranteed to fail next gen as well especially if it's an all digital PC, the casuals will avoid like the plague.

Re: PlayStation the Driving Force Behind Xbox's Helldivers 2 Port

UltimateOtaku91

This won't effect Sony as much as people think it will, Xbox are pretty much dead and Nintendo will still miss out on the biggest AAA games and the backlash over key cards will lose them third party players. So that leaves Sony as the real choice for the high end console and the best place to play third party games, Sony aren't going anywhere.

So what if a minority are throwing an hissy for over them bringing some games to Xbox, where they going to go? PC? and then still buy Sony's games on there? 😂

Re: PS5 Is the Only Console with a Proper Physical Copy of Cronos: The New Dawn

UltimateOtaku91

@Dudeitsme No they do not, once inserted it will automatically downlaod the game from the store and the cartridge is required everytime to allow you to play that game. You can then sell that cartridge and it will be same for the buyer.

That's why they are so much better than a code in a box. If you are like me and buy games to complete then sell them then just treat these game keys cards as normal games.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 592

On PS5 i will be playing YS The Oath in Felghana and the Tales of Arise DLC

On Switch 2 I will be continuing with the amazing Donkey Kong Bananza currently on the Tempest Layer and don't want it to end although I have a feeling I don't have much left. I will also be starting either Mary Skelter Nightmares or Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid, depends what mood I'm in.
