Tbf reading about this new Steam box it doesn't sound like anything special, it's weaker than the PS5 so will launch next year already out dated with the next gen consoles a year away, can't see it selling more than a couple of million. There's a reason their previous steam machine (2015) got discontinued after three years.
@GamingGod That's just their way of coping with the downfall of Xbox, they try and justify it by saying Playstation is stalling yet figures say otherwise.
Must be hard times for them as steam just announced an hybrid console before them and will most likely gain more attention than the new Xbox.
Playstation 5 has been the best console yet in my opinion, there's been more games I've played and would rate a 9 or 10 so far on PS5 than the entirety of the PS4 gen.
They should loan out their IP's more often for mobile games, the more attention these mobile games get the more likely people will buy the actual console games.
Also the Destiny mobile game is doing quite well so maybe we will get a Killzone or Resistance mobile game at some point.
@SuntannedDuck2 Fate Trigger has nothing to do with the Type Moon Fate series, it's just that the game has used the word "Fate" in its name to bait people into thinking it's related to the more popular IP.
The next actual Fate game is "Fate/EXTRA Record" which is a remake of a PSP game and is due next year.
This state of play was purely for Japanese/Asian game updates and indie reveals, they stated that before the show began so how people can still complain is beyond me. Yet you have idiots online still expecting Sony first party reveals 🤦.
I've been playing it on the Portal and it's been great so far, I'm level 10 but I've been focussing on just the first two maps. The game is very hard though, I can deal with wasps, hornets and the small bots usually in buildings but anything else destroys me and sometimes ruins the experience. Mostly play with squad fill on as well as then I have back up if I run into hostile players 😂.
@Oram77 Yeah your probably right, just find it funny they let Bunjie make the calls about their live service games. They could have given Bunjie the IP to work with instead and made a multiplayer TLOU Extraction game instead of Marathon.
Maybe they plan on supporting the PS5 for many years after the launch of the PS6, just like how the PS4 was supported after the release of the PS5.
So if the PS6 launches in 2027 but still support the PS5 for two years after that then yes technically it is in the middle of its life cycle right now.
They worst part is the they let Bunjie take a look at their other live service games and cancelled them at their advice. We lost TLOU Factions because of their advice, yet they can't even run their own live service games well.
Sony should just turn Bunjie into a single player studio like they used to be and get some exclusives shooters.
@Fiendish-Beaver Microsoft have more multiplatform games such as Minecraft that's on over 10 platforms but a Microsoft account is required, I'd say the same for any of their PC games as well. Also pretty sure a Microsoft account is needed to play small games like solitaire downloaded off their Windows store. They also have big mobile games like candy crush which has millions of players, probably more active players than their Xbox users.
Thinking about it I can't see much getting revealed tonight, if they were going to show big new reveals then they would 100% want it in English as well. So I think it will just be updates on existing games and maybe some release dates but in terms of new reveals I doubt we will see any, plus it sounds like there's going to be a few interviews which will slow down the pacing, I might just skip this one and get a recap after the show.
Can't believe I'm seeing Xbox players online moan about the game potentially having it's original retail price and that it should be cheaper due to it already being on Playstation for a year. Erm Forza Horizon 5 says hello.....
I will probably start the game for the first time once I'm done with TLOU 2, luckily it's on Playstation Plus so I may play it on my Portal in bed for an hour each night, lights off and headphones on just how horror games should be played 😅.
This sounds catered to me as I love Japanese games. Can't think of anything big that would be revealed though, the next Persona and Dragon Quest are still years away, maybe updates on Resident Evil and Pragmata. Kingdom Hearts 4 has also been missing for a while so maybe thats due an update.
Of course we will get the usual gacha games getting some run time, especially with Infinity Nikki having it's 1 year anniversary update early December. Just hope there's liitle to no souls games shown/announced.
For first party I would expect to see Marvel Tokon and possibly Astro Bot (still praying for some DLC).
I've been using the Portal a lot this year purely for cloud streaming and it's been flawless (130mb Internet). I bought Arc Raiders on Friday and been playing it on Portal all weekend and it's been great, been playing TLOU 2 Remastered as well and so far I've had no problems.
Just shows that Game Key Cards are a non issue and overblown by the minority. The sales don't surprise me either as Japan is crazy on Nintendo and handhelds.
@Rich33 The Switch 2 may be the only negative in a way, because if they want their games to run off that hardware then there's going to be some limitations which hold the game back, especially when we reach gen 6. But I think this will mainly be effecting the Japanese games rather than western ones.
@TrollOfWar I own both a PS5 and a Switch 2 but I would always pick the PS5 version because of performance and visuals and I would suppose it would be the same with most people who have that combination of consoles. Although if anything further down line I'd double dip and get the Switch 2 version as well but yeah I can't see Square Enix going multiplatform cost Sony in sales. Their games being on more platforms may in return create a bigger buzz (if the games good) on the Internet and socials which would maybe make more PS5 players buy the game in return.
There recent round of lay offs, shift away from their smaller games and commitment to AI has put me off buying their games day one anyway. Doubt we will ever see an Mana or Star Ocean game again, it will just be FF, Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts galore from here on out.
Why do people get so worked up and overreact over a delay 😅, the game is still coming and you will still get to play it but you just have to behave like an adult and have some patience, maybe play the many other hundreds of games releasing next year whilst you wait.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the Portal out sell the new Xbox Rog Ally consoles, which would be hilarious to see an accessory do better than an actual console.
Also these £600+ handheld PCs that's the Portal is somehow getting compared to can't even play every game natively, and most that are native have to play on low settings and still get under two hours of battery and high fan noise. With the Portal I can now play games like Dragon Age Veilguard, Alan Wake 2 and Clair Obscura at 1080p with steady fps with no noticeable drops or low textures with 4 hours of gameplay before I need to charge, an experience I won't get using a Rog Ally/Steam Deck.
Just read some of the reviews on steam and it's much more than just it being made for consoles, it seems like it's full of bugs and they've made no improvements even with a year gap. Even going far as to remove national teams, they need to fix this ASAP otherwise this series won't be around much longer.
After today's update I'd say yes, I will be playing on mine a lot more from now on. My only concern is the joy sticks, when my controllers get stuck drift I don't mind spending £65 on a new controller but for the Portal I don't want to be spending £200 every couple do years. Hopefully we get a revised version with hall effect sticks.
@Linaphor This turns the Portal into its own standalone console. Aslong as you have a playstation account and premium membership you don't even need to own a PS5 to play PS5 games. Just buy a game from the store using your phone and then play it on your portal via cloud streaming.
@Oram77 Those complaining on those articles are just butt hurt xbox fans trying to defend their console, but then have no problem bashing on playstation and bringing up Xbox in Xbox unrelated articles.
@Northern_munkey It's not just the prove of the upgrades either that's off putting, it's the amount of settings and loopholes you need to go through to get most games running well, you pretty much have to do the optimisation yourself. I'm tempted to buy a steam deck oled soon and been watching a lot of videos on YouTube on how games run and which games are playable and almost all of them you have to do some tweaking to get them acceptable. The majority of casual console gamers do not want to got through that every game and will have no idea what some of the terminology of the options even mean. People just love the simplicity of consoles and that will never change enough for consoles to become obsolete.
Remakes are great when they are needed to re introduce the game to a new generation of gamers. Remakes and Remasters of games 10 years old are pointless whereas games like Trails in the Sky and FF7 getting Remakes makes sense.
Also just because people spend more on remakes doesn't mean they are more profitable, as remakes cost way more to develop than remasters.
Haven't completed Yotei yet so I won't vote for it, so out of that list the only other games I've played (and completed) are Silent Hill F and Donkey Kong Bananza. So my vote goes to Donkey Kong, such an amazing fun game.
So from what I've read on here and elsewhere online it seems like some games struggle and some games shine on the Pro using PSSR. So that just tells me it's down to poor optimisation, devs should not really launch games until they are running well on all launch day available platforms.
The fact he's getting away with it doesn't surprise me, Japan is one of the most misogynistic countries. If he did what he did in the West he would have served some jail time and deservably so, forceably removing a woman's bra and assaulting her is disgusting, and to think there was others in attendance egging him on.

@Questionable_Duck There's no reason why they can't do both, their last Ratchet and Clank game came out in between Spiderman 1 and Spiderman 2.

If he's including third party then yeah it's GTA 6, if they are talking about their owm games then I think it may be the next God of War.

@Oram77 According the outspoken minority.
Re: PS5, PS4 Userbase Keeps on Getting Bigger, Attracts More Players Year-on-Year
Probably from Xbox players making the jump over to Playstation and from new PC accounts playing games like HellDivers (if they count).

Two years left to reach that 100 million, should easily be done.

I wonder what more they can do with the Portal now, only thing left is PS4 and PS3 games to stream.
Re: Some PS5 Owners Might Be Paying More Than Others on PS Store
Seems like the "just for you" discounts you also find on Xbox and Steam. Unfortunately for me I haven't received any, well not that I know of.
But it seems playstation have been doing the just for you discounts for a while now so that pretty much sums up whats happening here.

Its pretty much a logitech g cloud but dedicated to playstation games.
Re: Study Claims Physical PS5 Games Are 100 Times Worse for the Planet Than Digital Downloads
The thing is Digital costs less in labour, manufacturing, shipping, and less omissions yet why does it cost more to us consumers than buying physical?
I'm sure physical would have been dead by last gen if digital games cost £15-£20 less than physical.
Re: PS Portal Gets So Much Better Today in Huge UI, Cloud Streaming Update
They need to advertise the hell out of this update, this will lead to an increase in Portal sales and premium tier subs.
