Just like most new multiplayer games, people jump on the bandwagon for a bit because it's something "different" but end up getting bored and going back to the usual slop.
Not surprised by this, Nintendo consoles are primarily for first party so if there's lack of new games releasing then sales will slow down, whereas Playstation is mainly for third party games and is the go to console for those so they will sell consistenly well.
This game is more of a clone than Palworld was to Pokรฉmon and we all know how that blew up. But i suppose this is Sony we are talking about so of course the trolls will be out in force to be against them.
But yeah Tencent are looking for any excuse now and as someone has stated clutching at straws. Chinese developers are well known for cloning other games and using fake AI ads using YouTubers to promote games without permission, hopefully Sony win the case and can be the first step in fighting back against these companies.
Really liked the demo, you can tell the budget has been increased for these digimon games as it's looking like the best one yet. Also having all the digimon voiced and they say their moves is a nice touch, take notes Gamefreak.
@Nem That's great news, don't get me wrong I enjoy the Trails and YS games but it's refreshing when they do something different and Xanadu was a great game. Maybe a new Nayuta game next or something completely new ready to be their main focus once Trails is complete.
This company releases 1-2 games per year so I wouldn't be surprised if it was not that far away, if it wasn't for Beyond the Horizon getting delayed we would have had 4 this year alone.
Hopefully they have more than just Trails and YS games in the works, maybe an Xanadu 2 ๐ค.
It's still not a bad amount to have, if you're installing more than that then you should be buying some extra storage anyway? I have 14 games installed on the base PS5 including games like Wuthering Waves, Borderlands 4, Apex Legends, Infinity Nikki and Tower of Fantasy so most people should be fine especially the majority which are casuals who just play 2-3 games per year.
Sony won't go all out with a State of Play, they will save multiple reveals for a proper showcase so the most we will get is maybe some gameplay of Saros and Wolverine but they won't go overboard with a SoP.
@Artois2 Well yeah it's something that should have never been allowed to happen, but it did and has put an higher expectation on Sony to match their output which is only possible if they do the same.
@themightyant But some of those may produce one game per gen and have no track record and/or focus on being support Studio. Bunjie was a waste of money, fully of problems and won't contribute towards single player games, Firesprite haven't made a single player main game since 2018 that's not VR, Haven will most likely get shut down once Fairgames flops, Nixxes and Valkyrie are support studios, LFG and Dark Outlaw are recently founded studios so their games are years away yet.
Sony need more proven studios and more recognised IP's otherwise once one flops it's game over for that studio unless it's one of Sony's big studios like Insonmiac, Sucker Punch, Santa Monica or Naughty Dog. But they can't keep relying on those four to bring out the big sellers.
@Max_the_German God of War Ragnarok, Astro Bot, Horizon Forbidden West, HellDivers 2 and Spiderman 2 for first party, you know game of the year contenders and some winners.
To output both live service and single players games at a rate that will keep people happy I think its in their best interest to start looking at publisher acquisitions like Microsoft did.
Love Demon Slayer, I'd even put it in my top 3 anime along with AoT and Freiren but I'm not a fan of this trend of releasing a film between seasons that's absolutely necessary to watch to understand the story.
"in Fiscal Year 24, multiformat releases accounted for just 2% of PlayStationโs overall revenue."
That would include Destiny 2, MLB the Show, and Lego Horizon on Xbox/Switch, plus their PC releases. That's pretty low considering HellDivers 2 sales were strong as well during that period.
People do realise Pushsquare is a Playstation dedicated website, run by Playstation fans, for Playstation fans. It baffles me how people moan if there's a Sony bias, or people calling people fanboys yet if they weren't fans they wouldn't be on here, unless you're here to troll.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with this site pointing out the differences between the two versions to it's users, some with both consoles might not be sure what version to get but with the differences shown and pointed out they may be persuaded to get the PS5 version, which this site should absolutely be pleased with and not ashamed of encouraging.
@Pat_trick This time round we will see developers not make their games so demanding so that they can run on the Switch 2. They won't want to miss out on millions of sales especially after seeing the success of the Switch 1.
As primarily a JRPG player there's not too many realistic looking games I've played but Death Stranding 2 looked insane, Tsushima and Forbidden West also had great environmental visuals. For jrpgs I think Tales of Arise and Final Fantasy 16 looked incredible especially those eidolon fights. Kena Bridge of Spirits and Ratchet Clank were also visually pleasing for the animated aesthetics.
@TrollOfWar Final Fantasy 15 was multiplatform on release and Xbox counted for 9% of its total sales. And that was a time before gamepass I believe so they weren't trained into not buying games at that point.
Over the years Playstation and Nintendo have been the main place for jrpgs as they have been around the longest, so hardcore jrpg fans of the 90's and early 00s will most likely be sticking with those platforms.
I'm curious how ReBirth will run natively on the Switch 2, if it does well I may double dip and get both Remake/ReBirth for it as a recap before the final part. But the third game I will be getting on PS5 as that's where it will look and perform the best.
@OldGamer999 The problem with PC is that there are so many set ups and specs that your bound to run into problems with some. But with reviewers they should be using high spec PCs that why the game is getting good scores because they are encountering less problems. So with the PS5 version it should be tailor made for consoles and fingers crossed run well.
Looks fine from what I've seen on YouTube and I've been reading some of the reviews which are mainly positive. Most point out the combat being the series best so far.
So I'd say if you're interested in this game then read the reviews for yourself and ignore the haters that have been hating since it's announcement so of course they are already biased in what they are saying.
I was too young at the time but my parents bought me one the year after it came out. Only games I played on it were toy army men games and kids games like rug rats, spyro and crash. At some point it got chipped and I used to look forward to my dad's mate bringing round a folder full of copied games. Also used to love collecting the booklets inside the game cases ๐ .
Nothing for me this month which is totally fine with all the new releases. Highly recommend Fate/Samurai though, was probably my game of the year for 2023.
Let's face it Sly wouldn't bring in any where near the sales that Ghost does plus Ghost is a much more appealing and in my opinion much better game overall. Sony should not be taking risks on smaller IP's like this because the risk of flopping is high and may effect the Studio with lay offs in the future. Just stick to what the majority of their fans want and that's visually stunning blockbuster games.
This game looks even more incredible with each reveal, can't wait to get started and fingers crossed it reviews well and is up there for game of the year.
@Enuo Since your comment has been removed I can only guess what it consisted of, if it's about a certain hater in this comment section then you're well within your rights to point it out. It's so tiresome and then they pass it off as honest criticism, yet they have something negative to say on absolutely every article to do with Sony, Playstation 5, Playstation Plus, Exclusive games etc it's obvious to see it's not critism it's straightforward trolling.
Imagine a future where all games are in a subscription service because people stopped buying games, tell me how these devs would make money? Or are people expecting Microsoft/Sony to give each developer millions upon millions to cover the development costs?
Right now we are not at that point yet, but sales data does show that games are getting less sales on Xbox platforms, platforms where gamepass exists and eating into sales. Now let's say Sony and Nintendo do exactly the same and offer day one releases both first and third party into their own subscription service, sales for those games will plummet and more and more people will be trained not to buy games as they have plenty to play within their subscription and have the mindest of waiting to see if a game they want eventually joins the service instead of buying it on release.
That scenario will lead to a subscription based future, poor day one sales all around and more studio closures, and at some point it will affect you personally when you're favourite game doesn't get made anymore because it's not popular enough to drive more subscribers. Also when subscriptions are the main way to game these platforms will charge way higher prices.
People really do need to look at the bigger picture, or don't totally up to you but don't get complaining when lay offs and closures come round again, and your subscription price increases yearly.
@lazarus11 Exactly, you say something remotely bad against Xbox/Microsoft you then get ganged up on, and if you argue back you're the one to get banned. Push and NintendoLife are different as they are more lenient, the amount of negativie and obvious troll comments towards Sony/Nintendo on these sites that don't get removed is evidence of that.
