Konami has cancelled the physical release of the Silent Hill F soundtrack in the most vague terms possible.
The OST for the publisher's recently released survival horror game, composed by Akira Yamaoka and Kensuke Inage, was planned for release in December, via the Konami Style online store.
Unfortunately, due to "various circumstances", both the CD and vinyl versions of the soundtrack will no longer be released.
Anyone who had pre-ordered either of these products will be refunded.
The soundtrack is currently only available as part of the Digital Deluxe content for Silent Hill F, which can be purchased separately.

With the physical OST being cancelled, it's difficult to say whether the music will come to streaming services like Spotify in the future.
It's a shame when things like this happen, especially when customers aren't given a proper explanation. Hopefully, whatever issues are going on can be ironed out and the soundtrack can be released as planned.

A shame, honestly I can't say I really remember much of SHf's soundtrack. None of it sounded memorable compared to SH2, 3 and 4 imo.
Akira Yamaoka : "I want 90% of the profits from sales."
Konami : Cancelled
(I'm just joking, it is probably for some other reason)
Shame it won't get a physical but who knows what the reason could be.
Maybe its costs and distribution costs were too high for the number of 'pre-orders' they received.
I can't imagine it being massively popular and small runs will be more expensive than large runs manufactured and shipped in bulk.
I can't imagine them saying their Soundtrack was not popular enough to procede with Manufacturing a Physical version for the handful of people that showed interest. Its not as if the Soundtrack isn't available or 'owned' by the majority of people that wanted it.
By popular enough, I mean that they can make enough money back from the costs involved in manufacturing and distributing and may have a 'minimum' number they have to produce. Say they have to produce at least 100k Physical units to make it worth all the costs involved - the Vinyl/Plastic, the printing and packaging, the cutting of vinyl, the distribution to retailers etc as the companies don't want to do 'small' runs as they cost time and money every time they stop to switch over to the 'next' product. but only have 1k pre-orders, they'd either have to much 'product' unsold to make their money back or can't do such small runs cost effectively enough...
@KundaliniRising333 Quite insulting calling one of the most iconic gaming composers AI, sometimes I wonder why you even comment on things...
Various circumstances sounds like the sort of vague reasoning you hear before something really truly horrible comes out about a celebrity.
What a shame, this is by far the best OST of the year. Hopefully it gets released on Spotify so everyone has the chance to experience it.
That’s some awful strange carry on what do ya maoka that
Probably wasn't enough pre orders to justify the cost to produce them.
Was listening to the Silent Hill 2 Remake soundtrack just as I read this. 😿
Really digging this soundtrack so far, especially the opening theme. Very Silent Hill-esque but in it's own distinct way to reflect the 1960s Japan setting.
Probably wouldn't go for a physical soundtrack but will be adding some of the tracks to my creepy Halloween playlist, to join the underappreciated Downpour Daniel Licht tracks.
Must be a sequel to that Square-Enix RPG, Various Daylife.
It should also be pointed out the digital soundtrack included with the Deluxe Digital Edition is via an app there is no option to listen to the tunes outside of the app. So all round a bit ropey for anyone who digs the soundtrack.
@Jammer Don't worry I got you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxDGmFTMvZw&list=PLTnE-v8nugolkmISeN2U5okKnJxr6Qv7S&index=5
@nessisonett Utter nonsense, if that was the case they'd stop stocking the game. There are a thousand possible reasons this was cancelled prospective sales being the most likely. Let's not go all cancel culture and portray Akira, one of the greatest game composers, as some kind of villain sheesh.
Cancelling the soundtrack... I'm a little disappointed, I was planning on getting it. I collect games, consoles, gaming collectibles. Which is why I pre-order/import certain games, and get the collectors editions. More so back when most collector edition's actually came with actual collectibles, like figures, posters, maps, physical soundtracks, rather than purely digital "items".
Hmm around the same time something unforeseen has put the Corpse Party collection on hold. Any links between the games? Like composers, voice actors etc?
@Nepp67 too you
@Muscleblackcop Did you not read that small part at the end of my sentence there?
@Nepp67 I did bff
