@ElectricWizard Well it was still a timed exclusive like most other third party exclusives, the majority of console players that wanted to play this already have. I wouldn't be surprised if the sequel is also still a timed exclusive.
Assassins creed aztec next surely, seems they are going through all the different regions and time lines and this is one they haven't done yet, that or South America.
@Boxmonkey 90% of Playstation fans don't even know who Bluepoint is, that's because the majority of Playstation fans are casuals. Bring up the name Herman Hulst at work and everyone will look me like who the f**k is that.
Clearly they are unhappy with how Microsoft is pushing Xbox, with the multiplatform push and future focus on AI and live service. Depending on the mindset of the next CEO this could spell the end of actual Xbox consoles.
I mean head of CoreAI just says it all really, not a future to look forward to that's for sure.
@Oram77 They have probably left because Microsoft are forcing plan they don't approve with l such as going full multiplatform, with an AI and live service focus judging by the statement. People think Sony have it bad, depending on the mindset of who they appoint next they may want to stop making consoles altogether.
Does he know some of staff are being kept on and the Studio has no IP and I also believe Sony hold the studio naming rights and assets such as building and equipment. When these studio's get closed down there's hardly anything left to picked up surely?
We've seen Studio closures across Sony, Microsoft, Bethesda, Ubisoft, EA and other independent studios over the last 18 months. But for some reason this Bluepoint one is catching Sony more flak even though Bluepoints games never took off sales wise anyway. When Microsoft closed Studios you actually had people saying they understood why they did it and it made business sense, unbelievable!
Sony close Bluepoint and you have people throwing slander all over the place and saying they are leaving playstation next gen, it's quite amusing because wherever they go next they will also face Studio closures and game cancellations 😅.
Not into Souls games so this doesn't bother me, but surely Sony can just loan out the IP like they did with Lego Horizon, Everybody's Golf, Patapon and Freedom Wars.
@get2sammyb Live service took off massively towards the end of the PS4 gen, most of Sony's games during the PS4 were already in development by that time. Gaming habits change, during the PS3 and early PS4 gen single-player games were on top, free to play games were barely there and gacha games weren't a thing, now the PS5 is flooded with them and are the most played games every year.
All Sony is doing is changing along with the market demand, so the Sony of old is never coming back because the majority of players don't actually want many single player games, look at the fantastic game of the year Astro Bot, 3 million sales from 90 million player base is just poor, Claire obscura apparently the best game this generation also has similar sales which to me is very poor.
The majority on here might be all against live service but they are the minority as 90% of PlayStation’s gamers don't comment on these gaming sites as they are casuals who mainly play live service games.
Well this isn't looking good and not just for Sony, the whole gaming industry including PC is going to effected and many will be priced out. The very thing quite a few on here defend (AI) could be the very downfall of the industry.
@ShogunofSF You can keep telling people on here about how big and popular live service games are but they won't listen and still want Sony to have nothing to do with them. Live service is necessary for any major publisher these days, Sony are no different.
What I think Sony should be doing though is not forcing studios who normally create single player games to start making live service games. Sony should instead invest in buying studio's already accustomed to making live service games, that way they aren't taking anything away from it's single player only players.
This is the statement by Sony if anyone's interested. Glad to see some staff will be kept on atleast.
Hello everyone,
I wanted to share an important update from the Studio Business.
As I mentioned in the December Town Hall, 2025 had some strong highlights within PlayStation Studios. Ghost of Yotei launched to critical and commercial success, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach further showcased our commitment to narrative excellence, and Helldivers II and MLB The Show continue to drive on-going player engagement and revenue.
At the same time, we’re operating in an increasingly challenging industry environment. Rising development costs, slowed industry growth, changing player behavior, and broader economic headwinds are making it harder to build games sustainably.
To navigate this reality, we need to continue adapting and evolving. We’ve taken a close look at our business to ensure we’re delivering today while still well-positioned for the future. As a result, we will be closing Bluepoint Games in March.
This decision was not made lightly. Bluepoint is an incredibly talented team and their technical expertise has delivered exceptional experiences for the PlayStation community. I want to thank everyone at Bluepoint for their creativity, craftsmanship, and commitment to quality. Where possible, we will work to find opportunities for some impacted employees within our global network of studios.
While I know this is hard news to hear, I’m confident in the direction we’re headed. Creativity, innovation, and building unforgettable experiences for players remain at the heart of PlayStation Studios. We have a robust roadmap for fiscal year 26, with much to look forward to in the months ahead.
Thank you for your hard work and continued support.
Speechless, just as I was saying the other day Sony need to buy more studios to increases their output they go and close one instead. Hopefully the staff get absorbed by one of Sony's other Studios.
@ElectricWizard What's not to like about my consoles of choice getting exclusive games that im super looking forward to, Wether it's Professor Layton on my Switch 2 or Silent Hill in PS5. I've been gaming on Playstation since I was 5 and Silent hill was iconic back in the day so it's nice to see Konami come back strong with a partnership with Sony.
I'm under no obligation to feel bad for gamers on other consoles who are missing out, and like I was told countless of times by Xbox players when Microsoft bought Bethesda, if I want to play their games then buy an Xbox. That mentality has kind of stuck with me and now the shoes on the other foot im in the wrong.
I wouldn't be surprised if Sony send out questionnaires to multiple big developers and publishers to see if they are still interested in doing physical copies on the PS6, and then base their decision on that.
Although even if they decided against physical for PS6 games I still think a disk drive will be an optional purchase for those with a large physical collection of PS4 and PS5 games to encourage them to move over to the PS6.
Well third parties will still be doing physical for the Switch 2 for many years to come so it makes sense for Sony to continue with physical as well. Physical game sales are still bringing a good chunk of revenue for Sony, plus the huge second hand market helps drive console sales which for online games will bring in more potential MTX purchases.
@OldGamer999 Gears of War Reloaded scored a 73 last year on PC, Flight Simulator 2024 scored 68. Big Xbox IP's with smiliar scores to this game but did you bash those?
You say we are love blind yet how many times have you sold and re bought an Xbox this gen, and how many times has Microsoft increased prices? Yet you still keep shilling for them so doesn't that make you love blind also?
Well that's brings the metacritic up to 70 which is basically a 7/10. Just think it could have gotten a higher score and user score if it just had a co op from the beginning, crazy how simple things like that can negatively effect a games success.
Some of these look really interesting and I've been meaning to get into indies a lot more over the last few years so maybe this is the year i can try more out.
Also what the hell happened to Little Devil Inside?
@Max_the_German For that to happen Nintendo will need to hold off increasing the price, if they increase the price to £500+ then that will just do the opposite and make the PS5 look like a bargain.
I think they would do well with a price increase if they also sold a Switch 2 Lite and a TV only version at a cheaper cost.
@darylb24 Sony have Wolverine, Saros, MLB, Marathon, Horizon Hunters Gathering, God of War 2.5D, Multiple Destiny expansions and Marvel Tokon for this year. Yes OK some of them are multiplayer games but for Sony to to pump 3-4 single player AAA games per year then that would mean restructuring Bunjie and San Diego, and acquiring more studios or even a publisher as that's the only reason Microsoft can release 3-4 games per year.
To meet the demands of both single player gamers and multiplayer gamers Sony 100% need to increase their studio portfolio.
This RAM issue is also effecting PC by the looks of it, ROG Ally X is also getting a price increase, in Japan it's increased by roughly $200. Then theres multiple rumours of the the Switch 2 getting a price increase soon. Gaming is going to get way more expensive across the board, you're going to see increases across Playstation, Nintendo, Xbox, PC and PC handhelds this year that's for certain.
I can't see how they are going to do this other than raise the price of playstation plus. They could also go all out on making sure that every possible live service and gacha game possible is on PS5 as some games are currently PC only, that way they will be getting the 30% cut on the MTX.
Whatever Sony increases I hope those championing AI have no problem with it 👍.
Whilst this game won't be missed it goes to show that Square Enix are full of s**t. Basically Sony refused to pay their high demands for the bigger games as the sales weren't worth it.
Why is it when there are articles about Xbox's next console coming possibly next year theres no none moaning about how too soon it is, yet a similar article about the next Playstation and all of a sudden it's a problem. What have Sony turned their "fan base" into 🙄.
@Haruki_NLI That's because of issues thats out of Sony's hands, just like the Switch 2 which is rumoured to be getting a price increase soon. Everything that needs RAM is going to continue to get more expensive every year for the foreseeable future.
@dodgykebaab Looking at the PS5 gen most developers still released their games on the PS4 for a few years so Id say it's not really an issue. Also those games that are exclusive are still going to be there whenever you decide to buy the console.
@get2sammyb Exactly, this RAM situation may last 5+ more years, if so then Sony can't wait that long especially if Microsoft release their console in 27/28 as Sony will not want to lose any market share. Also publishers and devs may already have games planned for this console and will not want a delay.
Surely the longer the delay the more outdated the hardware will be? If you're happy still paying the full price for that then that's fine. But a lot of tech savvy people are not going to be pleased paying for outdated hardware at full price.
Also even if people say they think it should be delayed, what's wrong with still releasing it in 2027? Those that want a delay can just you know.... Not buy it and wait a couple of years.
Well I currently have around £280 saved up for it so a year or two delay would help me out tbf. Plus the PS5 gen seems to have started to get serious over the last year or so and this year is looking to be even better than the rest, so I can't see a delay upsetting many and I doubt Microsoft releasing their console a bit earlier will have much impact like it did with the 360.
And deservably so, easily the best one so far. Also love this partnership that Sony and Konami have going on, a couple of decent looking exclusives on the way from them.
@StitchJones I wouldn't be surprised to see Sony either stop the PC ports of their own single player games or make the time before they land on PC even longer. Sony will do everything they can to protect the PlayStation brand, that is certain.
@belmont Well it's a PC handheld made by Asus just with the Xbox logo and controller lay out slapped on it. I wouldn't call it an actual Xbox handheld.
Sony are not in a situation where they need to put their big games on another console. We all know the reason why Microsoft are doing it, if they were selling 90+ million consoles each gen then you wouldn't be seeing Forza, Fable, Gears and Halo on a Playstation console.
Yet you have gullible people thinking Microsoft are saints and are going multi platform because they believe in everyone should play their games 😂.
The failure of the Xbox One has brought about many attempts to recoup their player base and lost revenue. From releasing their games day and date on PC, creating gamepass, buying two massive publishers, and trying to push cloud gaming. Putting their games on Playstation and Nintendo is just another attempt. Sony have not had a failure of this size yet to do any of the above hence why you won't be seeing any big Sony made single player games on Xbox or Nintendo.
