Re: SEGA's PS5 Games Get Good Reviews, So Why Aren't You Buying Them?

UltimateOtaku91

For me I tend not to buy games that go into gamepass day one, it's like they are using the PlayStation and Nintendo fans for the actual revenue which makes it easier for them to risk putting these games into gamepass. I won't be funding that, so for any Sega games that have gone into gamepass I will just buy them second hand or rent them.

Although, Metaphor Re Fantazio being one that I did buy day one, I find it strange how it hasn't sold more than it has. It even got multiple game of the year nominations and is easily one of the best jrpgs this generation. So to have only sold 2 million copies is pretty poor.

Re: PS5 Players Could Get Compensation as Sony Slammed for Monopolistic Practices in UK Court

UltimateOtaku91

@cragis0001 But how would that work, let's say Sony allows steam on its system so people can buy pc games? They wouldn't be optimised to run on the PlayStation console. It would be like Nintendo having the PlayStation store on the Switch 2 with the majority of games not being able to run on the system. Or like how Xbox studios have to separately develop a PS5 version for the game they are bringing over, meaning buying an Xbox version off the Xbox store wouldn't run on the PS5.

Re: PS5 Players Could Get Compensation as Sony Slammed for Monopolistic Practices in UK Court

@PaperAlien That goes for Nintendo and Xbox as well, it's been like that for years where digital costs more than physical. But I agree its never made sense, not only is there no external cost of packaging and disk manufacturing, but it also cuts down the pre owned market meaning more new sales. Making digital cheaper would just benefit everyone involved, get more people into buying digitally and make the pre owned market disappear over time, something Sony would surely love to do.

If it means we can buy game cheaper from other retailers then I'm sure a lot of people will be happy. Doesn't really effect me as I still prefer physical but would be ideal if the PS6 turns out to digital only, then I'd be looking to save as much as I can.

But let's be honest if this ends up going against Sony we can definitely expect them to recuperate those losses by introducing price increases, either to hardware or playstation plus.

Re: 'This Should Be Illegal': PS5's Dynamic Pricing Roundly Criticised by Disgusted Sony Fans

UltimateOtaku91

So they aren't charging more for the games, but instead offering discounts at different rates to different people? Are these people located in the same country? Or are some getting better discounts because they are ps plus members? Is it based on how long you've been a playstation member?

I've had my account for over 16 years now and been a playstation plus member the wile time so if I'm getting better discounts than someone who's only been a member for a year or two then that's just Sony rewarding loyal customers.

I think Sony need to put out a statement to clear this up and explain how this works otherwise the backlash is just going to get worse and more traction.

But its times like this why I'm glad I buy 90% of my games physical, and the other 10% are games in a sale.

Re: Opinion: God of War: Sons of Sparta Is the Smaller PS5 Game Fans Want, and I Hope We See More

UltimateOtaku91

Well on paper it's a great idea and one that I support, but we all know the majority just aren't interested in the smaller games. We've seen it before back during the PS3 and PS4, loads of smaller games yet they all failed sales wise.

I think it would be less of a risk for Sony to just loan out their smaller IP's. Just like with Nintendo, a lot of their exclusives aren't made by studio's they own.

Re: 'They're Not Going to Delay PS6': Hardware Leaker Says 2027 Still Likely After Xbox Helix Reveal

UltimateOtaku91

@orvisbean101 If consoles are costing £1000 then a lot of gamers will either not bothering upgrading, find a cheaper alternative to their hobby, or just build a PC for that price. One of the main reasons a lot of people prefer console gaming is it's price point compared to mid to high tier PC's. If they are costing the same then people will move to PC. For Xbox that's what they want anyway, but for Sony it would be suicide to make their console £1000.

Re: 'They're Not Going to Delay PS6': Hardware Leaker Says 2027 Still Likely After Xbox Helix Reveal

UltimateOtaku91

For me i think Sony should release it the same year as the next Xbox. The majority of gamers don't care about specs as much as some like you to believe, all they will see is a £1000+ PC Xbox vs a £700 PS6 and I know what they will pick, especially the casuals.

Giving Xbox a year or two lead could allow them to claw back some of the market, whereas releasing the PS6 along side it would just be the final nail in the coffin. Just depends how generous Sony are feeling 😂.

But whatever Sony do I just hope it comes with a disk drive, either built on or as a separate addition. That would be another huge advantage if the next Xbox is all digital.

Re: PS6 Competitor from Xbox Revealed as Project Helix

UltimateOtaku91

Asha said we would see the return of Xbox...as a PC. How exactly is this the return of Xbox? All they are doing is pushing their players into the Steam ecosystem. This is a middle finger to Xbox's loyal fans, their first party will stay multiplatform and this new PC box is mainly for attracting current low spec PC players just like with the Steam Machine.

Re: PS6 Competitor from Xbox Revealed as Project Helix

UltimateOtaku91

Seems to me the Xbox crowd aren't happy with this, they know it's basically a PC and developers will just create PC versions of games without the usual console optimisation that console gamers prefer. It's the main reason console gamers prefer consoles over PC, the simple layout and the ease of use. If this is priced at £1000+ then I'm sorry but it's DOA and will be the worst selling Xbox "console" to date.

Even more so if the Steam Machine comes out first and is cheaper.

Re: Opinion: Sony's PC Pullback Is the Right Move for PS5

UltimateOtaku91

@Max_the_German Or none of those as Sony recuperates the small loss of revenue by selling more consoles and continue releasing live service games on PC, which at the moment makes up the majority of PC revenue for them. That 2% PC revenue mainly consists of Destiny 2 and HellDivers 2 sales and microtransactions. These types of games will be staying on PC, so Sony not releasing years old single player games on Steam is not going to cause the problems you've listed.

Re: Opinion: Sony's PC Pullback Is the Right Move for PS5

UltimateOtaku91

@TheArt Tbf this isn't impacting Xbox right now, there's no way to play these games on Xbox and it's only rumours that the next Xbox is going to have the steam store. This is more a counter measure to the new steam console. Sony want console gamers to only play their exclusives on the big screen using their console.

If Xbox are upset over this then surely they must also be annoyed that Nintendo doesn't put their games on PC, and so they won't put games on the Switch 2 either.

Re: Opinion: Sony's PC Pullback Is the Right Move for PS5

UltimateOtaku91

If you're a playstation fan/player and own a PS5 then I don't see how you could moan about this as it has no negative impact on you. The only ones moaning should be PC and Xbox fans who will now miss out on Sony's biggest games.

For me this makes sense, Sony are doubling down on their main brand and making their platform more lucrative.

Telling customers if you want to play our games you don't need a playstation hits different to telling potential buyers if you want to play our games then you need a playstation. That right there creates a USP and a very powerful one in the gaming industry, I mean just ask Nintendo.
