I think Kingdom Hearts 4 will be a PS6 launch year release, but Dragon Quest 12 and Final Fantasy 7 Part 3 will be this gen and hopefully next year or 2027 the latest.
@judgmentarrows I think it's more to do with Nintendo than the handheld gaming aspect, Japanese just adore their games and it's every rare you will find many third party switch/switch 2, games dominating the charts.
The brutal difficulty and lack of difficulty settings has put me of getting this game. I will just wait for it to get added to PS Plus Extra in a year or two to try it out.
@judgmentarrows You aren't wrong, even the sales for Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater Remake we're 93% on Playstation. And people can't use the excuse Xbox is more digital focused when over 83% of Playstation game sales are digital.
Just sound smile excuses to me, how havr other games sold well on PS5 then? Also over the last 10-15 years Capcom have built their biggest monster hunter audience in Nintendo consoles, yet continues to release their main new Monster Hunter games on anything but Nintendo consoles π .
Wilds has had the worst post launch support for a monster hunter title in a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people are waiting until the inevitable expansion comes out before getting the main game.
This has nothing to do with Sony having nothing to show, it's to do with Sony marketing this game and helping the game gain more attention likely due to an agreement. But of course people want to turn this into a negative towards Sony.
The Borderlands 4 and Ghost of Yotei SoPs were pretty decent so I will give this a watch as well.
@Bez87 Tbf I'd say Sony putting HellDivers 2 on Xbox is because they are the winner. The way Xbox has collapsed over the last two gens means there's no way back for them now, especially after going multiplatform. Sony can now relax as their position is safe, there's no threat from the competition and so they now see Xbox as a means for quick revenue like they do with PC. There's no reason for Sony to pay for third party exclusives anymore either so we will definitely be seeing less of those.
So Sony winning has some positives such as gaining more players and more games from Microsoft, but also some negatives such as less third party exclusives and more Sony games being put onto Xbox/Nintendo/PC.
Overall though Sony's profits will grow and grow, hopefully that results in more games and acquisitions in the future, and better/improved services.
@SMJ I don't know about the figures I was just clarifying what they meant by their comment. Switch does have a very high attach rate for physical compared to Playstation but Playstation sell way more digital and have a lot more games that aren't available on the Switch so they should have more software sales, take Call of duty, GTA, Red Dead Redemption, HellDivers 2 etc that have sold millions on Playstation but nothing on the Switch because they aren't available. So Nintendo selling more first party software every year compared to Sony is offset by Sony selling way more third party software to Nintendo.
@judgmentarrows Steams player base dwarfs Playstation 5's so surely it makes sense it would sell better on Steam? Probably would have sold more if it was also on Playstation 4 as a huge chunk of Playstations monthly active users are still on last gens console.
@LifeGirl But it's a brand new game launch on Xbox. Doesn't matter if it's been on other platforms previously, there are many PC games that launch on Playstation months or years later and we don't class them as "re releases".
@awp69 Still, a Final Fantasy game being number 11 on the top selling game list near launch isn't a good sign, a series like that should be much higher.
@Dan12836666 Yep I feel the same imagine the extra sales they could get if they just allowed difficulty options. I wouldn't have played Another Crabs Treasure, Flintlock or Stellar Blade if there wasn't any difficulty options, and yet that simple addition means I will buy any future games in those series.
I was interested in Cronos until I found out it has no difficulty options and has been made to be a very challenging game basically souls like horror game so that saves me some money.
I will be getting Hirogami, Shuten Order and Daemon X Machina though, this month is going to be insane on my wallet with 12 games I want. Why is it every September/October is stacked.
@Fiendish-Beaver Don't think I've ever played a game and thought "that was scary". When I watch streamers scream whilst playing horror games I can't help but roll my eyes lol.
Also the majority of PC handhelds can be docked, so Playstation doing the same is no slight towards Nintnedo, it's just industry standard these days for any type of handheld gaming device.
So the characters aren't available straight away? Still need to earn in game currency to unlock them then π, this is giving me Xenoblade Chronicles 2 flash backs, the hours spent farming for the "currency" to get certain characters nearly made me lose interest.
Not changing my demon slayer vinyl plates for anything although these ones do look very nice. But I am 100% getting one of those controllers day one, waited too long on the Astro Bot ones and missed out so won't be making the same mistake twice.
That's a bad month for me, probably the worst month over the last two years. Not because they are bad games but because I have no interest in any of them.
@get2sammyb Yeah their website says its an open world adventure rpg, I'm not usually into racing games but the anime aesthetics and mention of the word "rpg" got me really interested.
I honestly don't see the big fuss about Hollow Knight, looking at gameplay it just looks like loads other indie games available on the store. If you're game isn't even the same genre as this then I'd say it's fine to release around the same time.
@get2sammyb Fully agree with your last comment, September to November is absolutely stacked full of great games across multiple platforms.
To have Borderlands 4, Digimon Story, Trails in the Sky, Silent Hill F, Little Nightmares 3, Ghost of Yotei, Atelier Resleriana, Final Fantasy Tactics, Towa and the Guardians, Sonic Racing Cross worlds and Artic Awakening all release within the same 30 days is insane.
I don't mind there being more Anime, Movies and Shows of games as long as they are good. Cyberpunk Edge Runners and The Last of Us show were good and hence boosted game sales, but the Borderlands movie was god awful and did nothing to help the series grow.
@SeaDaVie Yep it does get boring sometimes, he's not the only one either it's usually people sticking up for anything to do with Microsoft, bashing anything to do with Sony, or both. But it's always your the fanboy for saying anything about it π₯±.

Re: Square Enix Is Taking All Its Big Guns to TGS This Month
Seems they are just focussed on Remakes and HD2D games, where's the big AAA games and lower budget JRPG's they are known for.
Hopefully we see Kingdom Hearts 4, Dragon Quest 12, and maybe a new Star Ocean next year.

Re: Helldivers 2 Xbox Sales Estimates Predict a Helluva Start for Sony's Live Service
@SMJ He means total software not just exclusives, also not all Nintendo made games are huge sellers, infact there's more that sold less than 5-10 million than there are that have sold 10+ million. Even Spiderman has sold more copies than Tears of the Kingdom, Xenoblade and Fire Emblem struggle to sell more than 5 million copies, the last PokΓ©mon games sold less than TLOU, Uncharted, Horizon. It's only really Mario Kart 8, Animal Crossing, Breath of the Wild and Smash Bros that sold incredibly well.

@rjejr Same reason theres a dock for the Switch 1 and 2, extra power and more ports.

So basically I think next gen might look like this.
PS6 lite - weaker specs and handheld (Β£500), dock sold separately (Β£100)
PS6 - standard console (Β£650)
PS6 Pro - upgraded console (Β£800)
