I enjoyed the whole series up until the end of V3, the reveals at the end just ruined it and honestly glad they moved on to something else. Master Detective Archives, Hundred Line Last Defence Academy and Shuten Order have been great and in some ways just as good as Danganronpa was.
@EfYI Yet you should take aim at the games kids are actually playing then like Call of Duty, Fortnite, Roblox and GTA. Are these games no predatory and worse? Or is just gacha games you have a problem with?
Also some of these gacha games have a bigger budget than most AAA games, are fully voiced in English and are supported very regularly for years with substantial content, every few months they get updates that are bigger than some games on their own. They offer enough free in game currency to get multiple draws and they don't pay wall any of the story or in game events etc.
Also your main issue is with Kids playing these games yet if they were to want to purchase anything from these games then it's down to the parents to either allow them or teach them it's wrong to gamble but seeing how many kids are playing fortnite showing off the latest skins I'd say parents don't give a damn what their kids spend their money on, you can't go blaming Pushsquare for this.
This is becoming a trend now where games are adding easy modes after launch, it's happened with Expedition 33, Lies of P, Silent Hill F, Silent Hill 2 and now this.
Surely just adding it at launch would result in more day one buys instead of adding it months later when people will most likely wait for a sale instead.
If this is number 10 then for me the rest of the list will look like this unfortunately.
9, Trails in the Sky Remake
8, Split Fiction
7, Dispatch
6, Death Stranding 2
5, Blue Prince
4, Silksong
3, Ghost of Yotei
2, KCD2
1, Expedition 33
Silent Hill F will unfortunately miss out, and I suspect Arc Raiders will sneak in somewhere although in my opinion compared to those other games it shouldn't be included.
@MrStark Silent Hill F won't make it as Death Stranding 2 and Silksong will be in there as well, plus is think Trails in the Sky Remake has a good shout as its the highest rated jrpg this year. That's why this game being number 10 is a strange one, so many critically acclaimed games this year and this ain't one of them.
Only games I've played from that list are Arc Raiders and Nightreign, and for me both are way overhyped. Arc Raiders got boring real fast and Nightreign was just too hectic, rushed and difficult. I do plan on getting Hell is Us tomorrow though as its on sale.
@PuppetMaster Now that Anime has become mainstream you will see a lot more games based off Anime, even if it ain't the best. Theres even a Tougen Anki game coming next year, plus Solo Levelling.
@get2sammyb Not every game is going to launch on the Switch 2 though and the ones that do are going to take a big hit to visuals and performance. So a Sony handheld that can play every third party game, at a better visual fidelity and performance than the Switch 2 would be quite popular. Not to mention it would have games like Genshin and Wuthering Waves, games that are huge in Japan (and Asia as a whole).
So no difference to my workplace then 😔, oh well that's life especially if the job demands it or deadlines are missed and I can guarantee ND ain't the only high profile studio doing it. Still super looking forward to the game.
@TrollOfWar I'd say it's more of a AA title than AAA or Indie, 10 million is still a lot of money compared to the majority of indie titles. Also just Google searched it and over 400 people worked on the game across many different studios, that doesn't scream indie to me.
This is good news for Geoff and good news for the games industry in general as it shows not only just how big it is but also that more people are taking more of an interest in it.
If AI is making developers jobs easier, shortens development time and cuts costs does that mean games will get cheaper or atleast no increase in price again? If not then AI brings no benefit to the consumer and will only lead to greed from more developers.
This was a tough one but I've gone fro sken safe picks for games i know il definitely enjoy.
Trails in The Sky 2nd Chapter Monster Hunter Stories 3 Trails Beyond the Horizon Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis
I'm also looking forward to a few more but they could be hit and miss like Pragmata, Wolverine, The Adventures of Elliot, Fatal Frame 2 and Control Resonant. 2026 is looking like a banger year though, especially when I throw in a few Switch 2 releases.
A lot of overhyped games this year in my opinion, Arc Raiders got stale fast and I just didn't understand the appeal of Blue Prince, after 5 runs I just got bored. Dispatch and Silent Hill F great though and I do plan on getting Expedition 33 now that there's an easy mode (which got made even easier today), the souls like elements put me off originally. The indies Hades 2 and Silksong were just safe bets that didn't deviate much from the first games, Sony get ridiculed for making "samey" Sequels so these two should get the same treatment. Yotei was good but it wasn't anything mind blowing and the highest rated JRPG didn't even get a look in.
This game is not from a Sony Studio by the way, so bringing up Sony making live service games instead of single player games is a moot point.
I'd get if Sony were using up their own studio's for this but they aren't but it now seems Sony aren't allowed to make live service games or even just publish them. They even get hated on for getting third party developers to make mobile games, this is just this the length haters will go to bash on Sony and it's embarrassing.
Would be great to see Donkey Kong win GOTY. I haven't played E33 yet so I can't comment on it's quality but I've seen some gameplay videos and the amount of QTEs is off putting, I don't play turn based games expecting to still time dodges and parries, there's a reason I suck at souls games lol so maybe it isn't for me anyway.
How long before they are acquired by the Saudi's or Chinese. Publishers in general have just been a s**t show over the last 2-3 years and it's the independent studios bringing out the best games. Only decent ones left are Capcom, Sony (without the live service crap), Nintendo and Take Two.
Well it didn't stop Kuro (Wuthering Waves) from releasing its own Japanese themed update (areas and characters). Nice to see one chinese dev not under the CCPs thumb.
Whereas the PS5 has a few big games launching every month, wether thats first party or third party, games that Nintendo do not get. Also now that Xbox are bringing their games to PS5 it's a no brainer that the majority of high end console gamers are going to go to Playstation, and at that discounted price now was a better time than any.
Just because the Switch 2 is new doesn't mean it should be outselling the other consoles, it was the amazing releases that carried the Switch 1 to the success it had, well that and covid.
Well Lost Souls Aside looked really good before it released and yet has a 62 metacritic rating with a 5.9 user score 😬. So I won't be paying too much attention to this until the reviews come out.

Re: PS5's Next Big Gacha Game Wants You to Take It for a Test Drive
I've put 300 hours into Wuthering Waves without spending a penny, but yeah gacha is totally predatory..... 🙄
Re: Game of the Year: #9 - The Alters
So this and Sonic Racing are in the top 10 😬, some good games have been robbed then.
Re: Game of the Year: Best PS5 Remake or Remaster of 2025
Trails in the Sky Remake for me, Yooka Replaylee was great as well.
Re: Game of the Year: #10 - Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds
@SeaDaVie Ah I see, with the first game getting such acclaim I would have thought they would want it multiplatform straight away this time.

Re: Japan's New Language Locked PS5 Hasn't Made a Massive Difference to the Format's Domestic Fortunes
@PuppetMaster To add to your reply to Haruki Nintendo can take more risks with smaller games because even their main games have a low budget but stupidly high return, Pokémon brings in billions alone yet cost between $10 - $22 million to develop per game. Yet it costs Sony ten times that amount and get less in return. Sony can not hide the costs of these smaller games within the revenue of their bigger releases.
Re: Japan's New Language Locked PS5 Hasn't Made a Massive Difference to the Format's Domestic Fortunes
@PuppetMaster Don't forget White Knight Chronicles, Sony's last attempt at a JRPG that didn't sell well either.

I'd say Indie is a combination of Low Budget, Small Team and Self Publishing. So with that said to me Expedition 33 is not an indie.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Most Anticipated PS5 Games of 2026?

Trails in The Sky 2nd Chapter
Monster Hunter Stories 3
Trails Beyond the Horizon
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined
Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis

At that price il be there day one, especially after watching the deep dive. I couldn't click with Arc Raiders so hopefully I can with this.

Re: Poll: Vote for Your PS5 Game of the Year 2025
1. Trails in the Sky Remake
2. Wuthering Waves
3. Silent Hill F
4. Dispatch
5. Ghost of Yotei/Borderlands 4
If I was to include Switch 2 games as well then it would look a bit different.
1. Trails in the Sky Remake
2. Donkey Kong Bananza
3. Wuthering Waves
4. Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma
5. Hundred Line Last Defence Academy
Re: Expedition 33 Breaks the Game Awards Record for Most Gongs in a Single Show
Nice to see that Wuthering Waves took the Players Voice award instead of E33.
Re: Expedition 33 Breaks the Game Awards Record for Most Gongs in a Single Show
With the amount of awards it won and buzz surrounding it I thought it would have sold way more than 5 million copies.
I also don't get people saying this game shows there's still demand for turn based games and use it as a dig at Square Enix. Persona 5 and Baldurs Gate 3 have sold a lot more and are both turn based, same for Pokémon and Dragon Quest so the demand for turn based games is already there.

1707 hours played, 98 games total with 1113 trophies. Top played game was Wuthering Waves with 227 hours.

Well it didn't stop Kuro (Wuthering Waves) from releasing its own Japanese themed update (areas and characters). Nice to see one chinese dev not under the CCPs thumb.
Re: PS5 Dominates USA and UK on Black Friday, Comfortably Outsells All Its Rivals
This doesn't surprise me at all, it's a result of both the reduced price and having the better game library for now.
The Switch 2 doesn't have enough big hitters yet and the two biggest games to launch over the last the month or two (Pokémon and Metroid) were also released on the Switch 1. Kirby and Hyrule Warriors were niche releases and were never going to shift consoles. Once the big games like Zelda, Mario, Splatoon, Animal Crossing, Smash Bros release then you will see a big shift in Switch 2 sales.
