Re: Hardware Snoop Tips Rumoured PS6 Handheld to Be a Beast

UltimateOtaku91

@SMJ Maybe haha, but if the rumours are true that it's more powerful than the series S then I can't see why it couldn't run all the PS4 and PS5 games natively, then for PS6 we know that most games aren't going to be pushing the hardware for atleast 3-4 years so during the first 3-4 years I can see most games being cross platform with PS5 hence then running on this new handheld as well.

But we will see, I wouldn't be surprised if it either doesn't even exist or gets cancelled due to the rising costs.

@11001100110zero Totally agree about the Vita, it was a beautiful device, I think I've owned 5 altogether with the original and slim versions and some funky colours from Japan. But yeah Sony frustrated me with how that handled it, main one being the price of memory cards as you said, was not a fan of the store lay out as well. All Sony had to do was allow SD cards, launch with the cheaper slim model first and get more third party support for exclusives like monster hunter or final fantasy, exclusives like the 3DS was getting at the time.

Launching with the more expensive OLED model was a mistake as well, oled should be an upgraded option later on once you've gathered a decent following, just like with the Switch and Steam Deck who both introduced a oled model years after the base model as an option for players who wanted an upgrade, not forced upon them at the beginning as the only option.

I can't fault the first party effort though, we had Killzone, Resistance, Uncharted, Soul Sacrifice, Little Big Planet, Little Deviants, Mod Nation, Gravity Rush, Wipeout, Motorstorm etc

I think the Vita has really put Sony off making an handheld that supports dedicated games, with Nintendos new single console focus it seems like it's a thing of the past anyway.

@SMJ ones it can handle yes, also the PS5 and Switch 2 are going to be supported for many years to come as well so I don't see a reason why this new handheld can't also be supported with new games.

I think the messaging behind it will be this device can play all your digital PS4 and PS5 games and select PS6 games, with Sony making their own studios 100% support it with native versions of future first party games.

Re: Hardware Snoop Tips Rumoured PS6 Handheld to Be a Beast

@SMJ So are these PC handhelds like Xbox's Rog Ally and Steam Deck pointless as well to you? Since neither of them have dedicated exclusives, neither of them play physical copies and neither of them can play every new game that comes out.

If this playstation portable can play native digital games then it's nothing like the Portal at all, it's basically an handheld PS5 digital.

Re: '$1,000+ Consoles Could Become the Norm': PS6's Price Touted to Touch Four Figures

UltimateOtaku91

If that's the case I would hold off until a decent sale or I will buy one second hand. Either option though I will be using by now pay later options.

I know a lot of people say they won't pay that but the majority will simply just so they don't miss out. Especially those that are hardcore gamers, gaming is their blood and they will not want to miss out on the next Elder Scrolls, Resi 10, TLOU 3 etc.

Re: Feature: PS5 Price - Why Does It Cost So Much in 2026?

UltimateOtaku91

@ThatOtherNewGuy But how many people actually buy mobiles outright, the vast majority are on a 2-3 year contract as its more affordable that way. I think this is the route consoles will mainly go down in the future with more and more people looking for bnpl plans. Sony have already started something similar with Raylo.

Re: Feature: PS5 Price - Why Does It Cost So Much in 2026?

UltimateOtaku91

Yes the economy is brutal and it makes sense why Sony have increased the prices but it's still a major concern for the gaming industry as a whole. This will price many out of gaming altogether as that's a big chunk of money that for most families is needed to be spent elsewhere.

More people will just stick to their older gen consoles for longer before moving over, and there will be more consoles bought via bnpl methods.

Re: Rumour: Dramatic PS5 Price Increases Incoming, Potential Announcement Tomorrow

UltimateOtaku91

If true then I can't see PS5 reaching the PS4 numbers, gaming in general is now a premium hobby and will become a hobby that's just too costly for some. The Switch 2 will probably get a price increase this year taking it over £500, Xbox has already had further increases, the steam machine will definitely be no less than £600, and next gen consoles will be £700 to £1000+. Next gen will be the death of gaming if things continue, even PC gaming will become too costly with the RAM prices. Casuals will just stick with current gen consoles and the PS6 will see hardly any exclusives due to most devs still wanting to support the PS5.

Re: PS5's Dynamic Pricing Debacle Appears to Extend to the US Now

UltimateOtaku91

@Globo Yes it's for Xbox one owners but people were still getting different offers based on how much they use their console and how much they spend, basically what dynamic pricing is. They probably use those criteria for the usual just for you offers as well.

Until this practice becomes illegal then I would assume that most big corporations with their own stores are going to use dynamic pricing, if not already.
