Fans Are Hoping This Mysterious PS Store Listing Points to a PS Stars Replacement 1

Last year, Sony quite suddenly dropped support for its PlayStation rewards program, PS Stars.

While it had its flaws, the system gave customers the opportunity to earn back a bit of money in the form of PS Store credit. Unfortunately, now PS Stars is no longer active, we're back to there being no reward scheme at all.

Now, fans have discovered a strange new page on the PS Store, and they're hoping it suggests a replacement is on the way.

While it's yet to be officially acknowledged, a listing for something named Wallet Credits is viewable on the browser version of the PS Store. Currently, it contains no further information, other than Sony Interactive Entertainment being listed as the publisher. Oh, and you can wishlist it if you want.

The leading theory on this is that Sony is looking to replace PS Stars with something new. Perhaps you'll earn Wallet Credits with every purchase, and they can be turned into proper wallet funds at certain thresholds. That's purely speculative at this stage, though.

An alternative theory: it doesn't make a lot of sense to be able to purchase PS Store credit for yourself, so could Sony be preparing to finally allow gifting on its digital storefront? Maybe you'll be able to send Wallet Credits to a friend's account so they can purchase something with it?

Whatever the case may be, it's sitting there clear as day, so Sony has something up its sleeve. Hopefully it won't be very long before we get the official info on what Wallet Credits actually are.
