Last year, Sony quite suddenly dropped support for its PlayStation rewards program, PS Stars.
While it had its flaws, the system gave customers the opportunity to earn back a bit of money in the form of PS Store credit. Unfortunately, now PS Stars is no longer active, we're back to there being no reward scheme at all.
Now, fans have discovered a strange new page on the PS Store, and they're hoping it suggests a replacement is on the way.
While it's yet to be officially acknowledged, a listing for something named Wallet Credits is viewable on the browser version of the PS Store. Currently, it contains no further information, other than Sony Interactive Entertainment being listed as the publisher. Oh, and you can wishlist it if you want.

The leading theory on this is that Sony is looking to replace PS Stars with something new. Perhaps you'll earn Wallet Credits with every purchase, and they can be turned into proper wallet funds at certain thresholds. That's purely speculative at this stage, though.
An alternative theory: it doesn't make a lot of sense to be able to purchase PS Store credit for yourself, so could Sony be preparing to finally allow gifting on its digital storefront? Maybe you'll be able to send Wallet Credits to a friend's account so they can purchase something with it?
Whatever the case may be, it's sitting there clear as day, so Sony has something up its sleeve. Hopefully it won't be very long before we get the official info on what Wallet Credits actually are.

More like Rumor than News at this point, no?
Still, hopefully it’s good news coming for us gamers.
That’s a bit of a leap.
I am probably the only one but I am hoping this is just an easier way to put funds on your wallet so you can buy stuff from the PS3 store. It may also be that the PS4 store is going to limited functionality like the PS3 store and that may also be a reason for this. But who knows, I guess we will find out soon
I hope so. While PS Stars wasn't great it was better than nothing and all the other major stores have some sort of benefit system.
I made quite a bit of money off stars. Maybe that’s why they dropped it as I’m sure I wasn’t alone
Probably just a new refund method to ensure cash stays on the psn wallet and not back to your checking account lol
That's probably just replacing the current wallet, so wallet credit is just how much money you've topped up your account with.
Thought it was debunked?
It’s from when Sony gave some accounts $5 or whatever
Plot twist, it isn't, this is only for random PlayStation members, that Sony emailed to give a free $5 voucher, after scouring reddit
Surely this is just somewhere to to how much credit you have on your account?
what's the point in getting rid of PS Stars and bringing in a replacement that does the exact same thing?
All for a rebrand of it 😂 I was never interested in the figures/trophies. Gimme more credit.
