Best state of play I can remember. Truly a feast of gaming goodness. Someone makes the days longer to fit it all in
I was overwhelmed by how many games I wanted to play that I forgot about Yotei Legends and that chicken man game.
Chicken man stronk
@RBMango Iām getting yotie so Iām ready for legends . Tsushima legends was fantastic
you left out the star wars racing game
Beast of a show. Very enjoyable from start to finish. So many games announced!
@StyleDrop maaate that looked soo good!
I'm really impressed feels like Playstation came to prove a point. Maybe Feeling a little competitive with Nintendo getting third parties in their directs. But no Square Enix and having your best show is a flex
@LiamCroft Thanks for the recap. But i think you forgot Brigandine Abyss, Rev. Noir, and Star Wars racing š
Anyway. All solid announcement with my eyes on:
Ouch. My wallet feels hurt haha.
Damn can't wait for my lunch break right now so I can check all this out. Seems like it was a good one. Word up son.
@PuppetMaster Not forgotten, we're still writing articles!
@LiamCroft Ah ok. Sorry for the interruption š
@LiamCroft nothing on Marathon??
The only thing I want to complain about is the DS2 PC port. Why? On a PS game SOP showing a PC port of an old title.
That God of War chicken game was something, I'm definitely going to have to try the first Control game now too and that John Wick game looked more Punisher PS2 than anything of recent memory. Maybe Sleeping Dogs. Castlevania looks great too, I loved Dead Cells and that looks like a cross between Dead Cells and Bloodstained Requiem of the Night. Shame there was no Eurotruck Simulator 2, I really want to see how console handles it.
Yakoh Shinobi Ops looks promising too but left me wanting a new Tenchu game, I'm not sure about that massive intrusive cone that was on the UI. Resident Evil just reminded me that I need to play another one other than the first two games, I didn't know what was happening in that trailer or why.
@LiamCroft Just curious Liam, this might be a stupid question, but when games get shadow dropped do you still get a copy beforehand to review? Or do you guys hear about it the same time as us? And does that then cause a bit of a panic in the team in terms of getting a review out soon? š
@LogicStrikesAgain There is the rare occasion where we'll be told ahead of time, but generally, we find out the same time as you in terms of shadow drops. We didn't know about today's new God of War game outside of the public rumours, and we don't have a copy yet.
Of course, we want to get a review out in good time, but in these situations, we just try to get them published in a timely manner. We've all got real lives outside of the job!
@GirlVersusGame Haha takin me back yakoh has me craving some sort of tenchu and last ninja at the same time, so who knows maybe it can deliver
@LiamCroft Thanks for the reply! I bet days like these are pretty demanding, but you guys did a great job in covering the whole SoP and itās aftermath . Kudos to the team! šš¼
Considering how much marketing Microsoft has done for Beast of Reincarnation, it's kind of a baller move that Sony got to announce the release date.
@Enuo it's pretty wild that a Gamefreaks biggest game so far gets announced by Microsoft, release date announced by Sony, and isn't releasing on Nintendo.
Quite a lot of games shown in very interested in, also for those put off by souls like games Beast of Reincarnation will have an easy mode.
Honestly, what a showcase for Konami. Darwinās Paradox, the return of Castlevania, the third Silent Hill game in such a short period (and honestly potentially the best looking one), liberating MGS4 and Peace Walker, and then⦠an anime style JRPG. Canāt say the last one really blew me away, but they convinced me that Iāll at least keep an eye on it, given that it really looks like theyāre trying again.
Weird that Square wasnāt present at all.
Truthfully, I didnāt need to see Pragmata or RE again, but theyāre sort of still the best looking games out of this batch to me and theyāre both so soon.
Crazy that Legacy of Kain and GoW both goth new retro games announced. As someone that doesnāt particularly love GoW, Sons of Sparta looks like itās far more up my alley. Iāll hesitate to purchase until thereās some reviews out there, given that Mario Tennis came in the mail today, but Iām curious.
Control, Kena, and Mina are all day 1s for me. I suspect the rumors may be true that a second Nintendo Direct could be incoming, given that Mina didnāt get a release date. Surely that must be soon. Glad Big Walk and Time Crisis will be on PS+.
And to end my rant, Marathon honestly looks genuinely unique. I donāt particularly like extraction shooters, but I love the style of the game. If I didnāt know it was an extraction shooter, that last trailer wouldāve had me thinking it was a game with a campaign. A shame it doesnāt, but I dunno⦠after seeing Arc Raiders, I know the genre can give that inbetween feel with single and multiplayer games depending on how the gameplay is. Iām going to give it a shot with the server slam.
@SystemAddict We just need that Tenchu 2 level editor but online so we can try other players levels. It's cheating when you know where all of the traps are.
The PS1 was powerful for the time.
@GamingGod Yes! I'm excited for almost every announcement.
Seeing articles/discussions that suggested a rumor about a new DMC game. That woulda been bomb! But alas.
This was a great SoP. Lot of stuff to be excited about, and I also like the gradual shift to "the stuff we're announcing here is actually coming really soon!"
Edit: Forgot to add that I'm a tiny bit disappointed that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain isn't gonna be included in the new collection. Might be saving that as a separate release for PS5.
