@WhoderMan Ive spent the last 17 years working with the homeless, but 20 years before that with most of the big players. Like you it was my dream, I left a high paying job with IBM to pursue it. Ive spent most of my life wandering what Im gonna do with it, only to discover Im suddenly much nearer the end of it...Im now in my sixties and have no idea how I got here so fast. Like you, I also have a lot of time for sonys studios, which are best of class. So Im hopeful that most PS players will give this game a chance and it does well. Guerilla deserve people's trust that they can deliver a good game, even if its in a genre thats not for me.
I hope for the best, but co op does not appeal to me at all so its the first game I wont play, n the series. I dont understand those stating the characters have nothing in common with fortnite when it so clearly borrows from that look? Its so obvious I question the sanity of anyone saying it doesn't? what are they loking at? I spent 20 years managing art teams making AAA games and if I gave the brief to make horizon characters with some fortnite style, this is eactly what Id expect my concept artists to deliver? Hope it does well, I really respect Guirilla as a dev.
Wonderful game - I loved GOT but loved this more. It deserves its success. I don't follow any of the cesspits where groups choose which game they wish to destroy next, that's a modern phenonium which I despise..
Im also doubting this will produce the results they want, but I guess we will see. Squinix management seem to have very little idea and live off of old Ip.
It's really unfortunate, but it's the harsh reality of video game development. I worked as a dev for 20 years, last project 17 years ago now, and about 60% of the titles I worked on never got released. Its just the harsh reality of working in that field.
@ThroughTheIris56 I can help settle your nerves - they are working on something for sure. Lead recruiter of playstation studios reached out to me on linked in yesterday (26/01) to see if I was interested in a senior animator role at Media Molecule (6 month contract).
I'm about to retire next month and the role involved at least one day on site in Guildford per week and I'm in Devon, so not something I'm going to do, but I remembered reading your post and thought I'd come back and update you when I saw this mail today...
Ram costs are not expected to return to palatable prices for about 2 years. Given this, and the great business PS5 is doing anyway, it would be silly to launch a new machine at an inflated price point.
Ps5 and specifically the pro have plenty of great experiences to give us yet, so it doesn't feel like a PS6 is necessary now and I suspect their financials are safe for a few years yet, especially if they can get product from those teams that had previously been tied to the ill fated service game push.
Played all of the FH games multiple times and spent a long time in each. FH4 is the sweet spot for me, but I still loved and played FH5 and completed everything on series X and then double dipped on PS5 and have another 225 hours played there.
I really like that you will not start off as a legend getting given lots of cars every race. They have reintroduced some progression thank god. I also loved the building they've introduced, I find that intriguing. Other than that, Japan is a good place to have as a setting - what car culture is in Mexico? Zero, but Japan has a lot of car culture and the preview footage looks great.
I'll play it on GP on series X on release, but then buy it for PS5 pro and play it again
Surprisingly, this is a recent plat for me (the remastered version) and I loved every moment of getting it. I had previously thought that the swinging would give me motion sickness, as I can suffer badly in some games. It was a joy to discover I was fine with it. Now I need to do MM and no 2, but you need a break between Spidey titles I feel đđ
Everything that seemed interesting or novel about this title when it was announced has already been done and gotten old while we've been waiting. Its also got nothing in common with the original game which was a classic to be remembered, not sullied by something trading on its name which has no connection with it.
Bought Tainted Grail to scratch that skyrim itch and its been really absorbing so far, so I want to play a lot more of that! I also want to get back to Keeper, which deserves my time.
Whatever you are playing this weekend, I hope you have fun. đ
If the screenshot is indicitive of the final product I wouldnt touch it with a barge pole. Its absolutely awful and trying to push this mess onto fans shows you the absolute nose dive these games are taking. It would appear the devs are exploiting the fan base at this point. Like a Dragon was the last one I trully enjoyed. I cant comment on the situation with the actor as I haven't researched the situation. But if it confirmed he's a sexual predator, then I wouldn't buy the game on that basis too. Basically, this game is doa for me.
Thats a higher percentage than I thought the pro would experience and would suggest it's been a success as I doubt Sony would have expected much more. Portal attach figures are also very good for such a niche device.
I've been all digital for a long time now, so seeing more and more people doing the same does not surprise me at all.
Love the look of this. If the story is interesting I'll be there to play it for sure, especially at the price. It's a shame they've dropped the Xbox version. If they are releasing on PC then I wouldn't expect an xbox version to be difficult to compile from that code, but I'm sure they will have reasons.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner I had every 5* creature, played in a top guild.... I was so hooked. It was always on. Spent far too many ÂŁk over 5 years. Never again!
I loved Black Flag, so I'm prepared to wait. However, when you look at what they did with Skull and Bones, I'm not sure my patience will be rewarded....
5 years of summoners wars taught me not to go near these titles. It was a lesson learnt the hard way and now anything with such mechanics is an absolute no go area for me.
@rockodoodle Yes mate agreed! Though we have two decent TV's in our lounge so me and the wife often play Forza Horizon at the same time on big screens. I was impressed with it on the portal too, but I choose big screen over small when I can!
@lazarus11 Well I have to say after a few hours, this is really excellent, Im absolutely absorbed and hooked and I can see why you like it so much. The art direction and visual style is really lovely, the story is intriguing and well acted and Im enjoying it all enormously. Delighted đ
I practically live and breathe games, but somehow this one completely slipped under my radar!
I'm totally up for a game of this type and at ÂŁ25 I'm definitely going to jump in!
Thanks for the article Liam, I might never have seen this without đ
**Update. Eurogames.com has really good deals on PSN credit atm - save about %16 even on lower top ups. This game is now downloading for about ÂŁ21... look forwards to playing it.
@Gunbeld Your comment is one of the few realistic and intelligent comments in this section. Sony has been buying panels and chips to make its TV's for many years. The secret to their best of breed sets is their video processing logic, which is still the best. As you rightly said, if we see TCL's now excellent panels matched with Sonys finesse for the video processing, we may get the quality Sony still deliver on their sets at better prices. I've always owned Sony sets. Right now I also own a Panasonic and an LG C1. I would never buy another Panasonic or LG - really dislike them, and Samsung have no dolby vision, so not even in contention. I hope the Sony Bravia name lives on and is worthy of its past.
Love these articles and their recommendations. I've often bought games having seen them/ being reminded of them in the previous features, and this is no exception, Im getting at least 3 of these, backlog or no! Thank you for putting these together đ
Premium is excellent. For ÂŁ2 there's an extensive library, streaming support ( I use this to test games before committing to the download), and all the Demos. Having access to the Demos has seen me buy games I would not have gotten a chance to try and I value that highly. It's less than a coffee per month. This continued rhetoric that its poor value is really silly.
Got infinite wealth and Village, but they are great additions. Also want to try the other titles here, so a good month for me.
I'm GPU as well and frankly this line up at ÂŁ10 beats the hell out of the stuff GP has been adding for ÂŁ25 - for me anyway. That will change maybe when they release some 1st party stuff?
Trails in the Sky, First Chapter. Looks like I might complete the game this weekend, and I have to say its been really endearing and fun to play. I need to return to Space Marine II and complete that - thats a different vibe!
Whatever you all are playing, I hope you have a great weekend!
@OldGamer999 Another angry post over some BS with you then stating youve thrown away a product when you clearly havent. If you genuinely threw away an A95l instead of buying a ÂŁ50 hdmi 2.1 switch unit then your as crazy as your posts! But you have form on this and have been caught lying on these sites multiple times now, Im baffled as to why you continue to do it? As for these covers, I guess its a nice option if you want it, but I wont lose sleep not having it available for my pro's. The pro is really only for 5 to 10% of ps5 players, so it makes sense to aim for the biggest slice of users rather than pro's..
Really enjoyed the game, one of the better looking open worlds this gen. With a quality dlc and and a useable 3rd person perspective, its a no brainer for me to revisit this.
Trails in the sky: first chapter. Wasn't sure at first, but 40 hours in and Im enjoying the busy work and characters a lot. I might try outer worlds 2 again. I gave it a cursary look and fell off quick, but it deserves more than that!

I might have fallen off the game after 30 hours (with no desire to return), but the story of the studio making this game and their achievement of (almost) universal acclaim, is definitely the story of the year and I hope it will inspire others with a dream and an idea.
