Re: Reaction: PlayStation's Burned Through the Last Remaining Goodwill of Its Fans

Titntin

@kmtrain83 I'm not talking about the wrapping? I'm talking about the disc, the case the box and everything that is delivered with a physical disc. You could and probably will argue its going to be on your shelf for a decade, maybe even 2 decades, but the vast majority of it will end up in landfill eventually and theres simply no need.
If modern games were delivered in a final state, theres a potential argument for keeping a disc with the final fixed code on, but discs made at 'gold' stage will usually have several updates before release and usually a huge day 1 update too, so discs simply entitle you to download the the latest 'fixed' version of the game. They are useless plastic tokens.

Re: Just 15% of All PS5 Software Was Purchased Physically Last Quarter

Titntin

@ShadowRJ
I'll tell you, but I'm betting you don't want to hear it.
I care about the planet, and in particular the amount of plastics we produce. A physical disc is just a wasteful download ticket to download the current version with all the fixes, and while it may sit on shelves for 10 or even 20 years, eventually it will end up in a trash heap leaching its poisons into the ground.
Sometimes I play a lot of games during a gaming session. I cant do this easily with physical discs as I have pretty bad mobility problems - getting up to put a disc in is more than a mere inconvenience. Starting any game I like on the hard drive is a real boon - I'd never go back.
Getting all that space back was such a joy! I used to have cabinet after cabinet and shelf after shelf packed with physical games. They just collected dust and took up space - I've been gaming over 40 years and I've learnt I just don't go back to old games no matter how much nostalgia tells me I should.
When I do my shopping, I sit on my @rse - I grab a %15 immediate discount by buying cheap PSN credit which takes less than 5 minutes, and then buy titles in the sales.
I've been all digital for a long time now and I have no regrets at all.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 639

Titntin

I've finally seen the end credits now on Crimson Desert, but finding it hard not to just carry on playing. I had made a good start on Forza Horizon 6 and I think I should get back into that - if I can get my wife off the Xbox (she's playing some cute mouse game!)
So many choices I'm finding it hard to make a decision!
Whatever you are playing this weekend, I hope you and yours have fun!

Re: Major Retailer Warns of PS5 Console Shortages in Light of GTA 6

Titntin

@Mikeg1965 Shame its locked to your email. I was down for the full £1208 bundle. Value is going to be different for everyone. Id definitely buy a PS5 pro over one of these. But when you got all the other machines anyway, and you want to access all your old steam games on a simple under the telly box, well its a no brainer for me. I've bought one of everything since gaming began..

Re: Mini Review: Dead or Alive 6: Last Round (PS5) - Dead on Arrival

Titntin

It about time this game dies. The early titles had some decent combat mechanics, but once they learnt they could get more sales from the hairy handed with skimpier costumes and more jiggle, they never developed the fighting engine properly and fell way behind their peers. Releasing the game in this shocking state clearly shows they think having a photo mode will do more for them than developing gameplay - and for fans of this series, maybe they are right.

Re: Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Directed by the Man Who Transformed the Original Game

Titntin

Unfortunately the game lost me before I finished it. I put about 80 hours in. Worked through the bugs, the bad script, NPC's rarely being where they needed to be for quests etc, but it just couldn't hold my attention enough to get me to finish the game. It was wonderful and also awful in equal measure.
Much as I wish it success, I'm not sure a DLC could ever get me to revisit the game, but I'll be sure to read the reviews once its launched.

Re: 'Absolutely Terrible Idea': Nobody Likes Sony's New PS Plus Experiment

Titntin

Doesn't affect me at all. In fact, delivery of these titles has been better as I'm finding the games are added to my collection automatically instead of having to remember to add them. I only ever play one at a time anyway and my backlog is enormous.
The usual overreaction is to be expected these days, these forums and many others are filled with people just waiting for a chance to throw a rock at something 🤷

Re: Valve's New Steam Machine Costs Almost Twice as Much as a PS5

Titntin

Its exactly what I want, just priced a little high.
Its specs are carefully chosen so it doesn't need ridiculous cooling and can be relatively cool and whisper quite. I don't use my 4K pc cause I cant stand the way all the fans ramp up to max and it becomes a radiator when you start to push it. That's not chilled gaming to me.
With two ps5 pros a series X and a switch 2, I'm likely to to play most new tech games on the pro. The Steam machine is for me for to have access to all those little games on steam that pass me by, which I'd like to have in a console format. The price is a disaster not of Valves making of course, but the machine is still very compelling to me and and my use case regardless.
I'm on the list for the top bundle and hope I'm successful for one shortly.

Re: 'There's No Ambiguity in Sony's Strategy': Trusted Journalist on PS5's Exclusivity Approach After Wishy-Washy CEO Statement

Titntin

@NerdyPaul "terrified" and "scared" are hardly fitting words to have a sensible conversation about what builds a successful platform. Sony have always built a platform around trying to offer exclusive games and features, either 3rd party or 1st and its a winning formula as evidenced by Nintendo's platform too. Microsoft have finally woken up and realised that they too need exclusive experiences on their platforms or they will become irrelevant in the eyes of the general public. None of them are 'terrified' - they are simply recognising the basic building blocks of success for this business. Your language gives no credence to anything you are saying. I wonder why you choose to use it?

Re: 'There's No Ambiguity in Sony's Strategy': Trusted Journalist on PS5's Exclusivity Approach After Wishy-Washy CEO Statement

Titntin

I'm shocked how no one has mentioned the big driver for this: Xboxs next console is a PC. If your games go to PC they are all available on the Xbox console. So many ROG X pictures featured Spiderman on the screen, that someone finally understood and took notice. Protect your own platform. Do you think we are going to see Mario Kart on anything other than a Nintendo machine - of course not, and Sony need to do the same with their IP's or they wont have a platform.

Re: Crimson Desert's PS5 Feature Set Has Been Expanded in Latest Patch

Titntin

@THEBrew Landing on top of the dragon was not particularly difficult? I don't see why that would need any reworking - simply jump fly and latch on with your grapple hook?
Regardless all updates are welcome, but having spent 300 hours getting muscle memory for the control scheme as released, I wont be remapping keys or I'll have to learn all over again! TBF, I use an Edge and have the 'grapple button' mapped to the underside button on the left, as its easier to use this without unintended movement from the left stick - so I guess I've always had at least one button remapped...

Re: Crimson Desert (PS5) - One of the Most Frustratingly Brilliant Games I've Ever Played

Titntin

I actually don't mind the re review in this case, as enough has changed in such a short time that it has made a significant difference.

For me, this game is an all timer. When you reach as high as these Devs have tried to, I expect a few quirks and unsatisfactory systems. But the pay off is incredible. I'm 257 hours in, but I'm resenting FH6 taking any of my gaming hours from it - its all I want to play!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 634

Titntin

I've actually stepped away from Crimson Desert for a few hours at a time! Though I cant wait to go back.
FH6 tempted me away and I've been enjoying it loads. It perhaps a shame that it sticks so closely to the FH5 template, but when the templates this good you cant help but enjoy it.

Whatever you are playing this weekend, I hope you have fun!

Re: Talking Point: Sony, Don't Re-Reveal Fairgames at the Next State of Play

Titntin

@themightyant I thought you'd see it. Unfortunately - well you can see.
Feedback I offer on this site is intended to be well made and constructive, and I still pay yearly to support the sites as a I genuinely want them to be the best places they can be.

Maybe we can have a site feedback forum? Somewhere we can try and positively feedback likes and dislikes and wants? It would still need to be constructive of course.

Meantime I'm still genuinely interested to see more of this game and what the team have done with it. The SOP appears to be the exactly designed for this purpose, so I don't see what would stop them from showing it there?
In fact the last few years have shown that no matter what they do they will pilloried and attacked regardless. I'd suggest they should show it anyway! Mind you, I'm an old geezer now and clearly don't have my finger on the pulse of games anymore!
See you in the F1 forum dude..

Re: Amid Xbox Exclusives Uncertainty, RPG Fable Recommits to PS5

Titntin

Nice to see the commitment toa PS5 launch.
However, this is a commitment from the Devs, MS ceo's can still overturn this should they wish. I don't see why they would - they need a decent return from their investment in game studios. Playground will want it on every platform it can get it on. When you pour your heart and soul into a game, you want everyone to see it. I hope its worthy of its heritage!

Re: Reaction: Sony's Big State of Play Must Deliver as PS5 Perception Sinks to an All-Time Low

Titntin

As per usual these Push Square articles are full of statements with no basis in fact. Theres no poll of gamers, no information to base the statements this articles makes at all, apart from the huge negativity that the team here at Push have been fostering for many years with their articles. Push readers are not at all representative and a great deal of people who enjoy their gaming don't come to this site because of huge negativity that's constantly pushed by the narrative on display here and the resultant usual commentators here who are looking for 'something to blast' every single day.
I believe I'm in the majority of people who own and play their Playstation (and all the other machines) and find theres more excellent games than I can play in a day. I might pay attention to the bleating of the Push moaners, but the overwhelming majority of players certainly don't and are just enjoying games. What's happened to this site is a disgrace and its not at all representitive of players. Contrast this with its sister site Pure Xbox, which are very supportive of their platform and positive about gaming , despite the many issues Xbox has suffered this gen. Its a much nicer place to be.
I'm sure I'll enjoy the next SOP. I engage with all shows from all the manufactures and love to see what's coming out soon, and I already suspect I'll enjoy Wolverine.
Those of you who enjoy your gaming - you are not alone.

Re: 'Every Detail Matters': Sony Drops New Promo for $900 PS5 Pro

Titntin

@RoomWithaMoose He's not wrong though. The biggest problem with the machine is the lack of compelling titles I couldn't play on switch 1.
I like the machine, but have bought just three games for it since launch - its the least used Nintendo console I have ever bought.
You are right to list the upcoming games though - at least relief is in sight, but there no must haves there either, with Yoshi apparently being poorly received in some quarters. I'll probably do star fox just for the memories.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 633

Titntin

I'm like a broken record at this point: - its Crimson Desert. 251 hours in and my interest is not waning at all. My wife is now playing it too (we have two tellys in the living room and multiple games machines) and she's 70 hours in now and enjoying it just as much

I've not been able to make time for any other game , but I'm very sure I'll take time out on day 5 of the Forza launch when GPU finally gets it. I intend to play it lots!

Whatever you are playing, I hope your weekend and week is fully of fun and laughter!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 632

Titntin

I'm still completely engrossed with Crimson Dessert after countless hours (200+ at this point).
I'm on GPU of course, but I've bought Mixtape as well (support small Devs) and want to make time for that this weekend.
How I'll find time for Forza soon is anyone's guess, but its a nice problem to have...

Whatever you are playing this weekend, I hope you enjoy it!

Re: Mixtape (PS5) - A Truly Special Story Experience

Titntin

I've been looking forward to this for a while - its a nice pallate cleanser in-between the more usual game styles I consume and I enjoy a good story game with minimal challenge occasionally.
Given the PS plus discount, and the fact I buy my PSN credit for about another 15% off this will cost me £11.90 and I will buy this to support the Devs - despite me being on Game Pass Ultimate and able to consume for no extra money there.

I hope this does well for the Devs and we see more of their work soon.

Re: Lords of the Fallen 2's Idea of Female Armour Is Downright Embarrassing

Titntin

It looks like designs from 20 years back. If that's what they want then I don't see the harm, but it wouldn't be my style choice.
To try and present this as a DEI issue is pretty silly, sexy protagonists in such games is a staple of the genre and has not been replaced in games due to DEI. I see as much of it today as I ever have..

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 631

Titntin

Crimson Desert has taken over my gaming and I intend to continue. 172 hours and loving every one of them.
I will take a break for Saros, and I'm looking forward to FH6 on Game Pass too, but its really hard to find time for all the titles that deserve a little playing!

Whatever you are all playing this weekend, I wish joy and happiness to you and yours..
