I absolutely love playing this game. I feel the story and the side content are so intrinsically linked too. It takes a while to warm to her character but as you complete more and understand more, you become very invested - at least I have. I dont give that many games a 10, but this one is totally worth it to me. I think it improves on GOT in every single way and is beautifully crafted. Up there with the very best.
@Medic_alert
The hobby will be worse off without you dude.
Its been my life and fortunately my wife too, so I guess it will always get me excited and I'll always find the money to indulge myself.
We bought a pro and noticed the difference so much that we replaced our second ps5 with a pro a few weeks later.
I was always told I'd never grow up. At 61 I guess I'm never going too
@Medic_alert My friend, I'm in Public service too at this point in life, as is my wife. I'm choosing to retire early next year and that will cripple me financially. I do see where you are coming from.
I think as we grow older and have more things demanding our money it gets harder to justify spending so much on games. Its not that they are vastly more expensive, but our priorities change.
Have a good day dude and I'll hope we get train driver raises for all! 😁
@GeeEssEff Well said mate, I couldn't agree more 👏
@Exerion76 As you might expect I've no experience of your country. But: "Sweden's nominal wage growth is expected to be around (3.5%) in both 2025 and 2026, with the recent industrial agreement setting a benchmark for other sectors. This is a slowdown from previous years, with a (4.4%) increase in 2023 and a (3.3%) increase in 2024."
It really doesn't look like your economy or growth is significantly different than ours?
Regardless, you can't expect the cost of goods to go down because your wages didnt keep up with price rises, thats not the way the world works whether we talk about cars, food, energy or games.
If your circumstances make such purchases harder for you than they were, I do have sympathy, and I pray your circumstances improve. But the data shows that's definitely not the case for the majority of people and wages have broadly kept up with inflation in most western nations over the last decade.
Take care dude, I hope things get cheaper for you in Sweden.
@thebizniznizbiz Thats a £680 card mate - its not exactly a fair comparison is it mate. I'd like you to show me what it can do for DS2 or Yoeti. Nothing at all of course, they are not available for your PC no matter how expensive it was. I too have a £4k PC, but I don't try to compare it with a £500 or £700 console cause that would be stupid....
@Rich33 I don't think many wish to hear it mate. They like moaning and wont let little inconveniences like the truth bother them. Adjusted for inflation, the PS4 launched at £490+, but I can buy a PS5 slim today for £479 on Amazon. PS4 games which were £50 when the PS4 launched would cost £74 in todays money. Games and hardware have gotten slightly cheaper, despite as you rightly point out, the increased cost of development of such titles. Gaming has always been an expensive hobby. In the Early 90's I'd pay up to £200 a pop on Neo Geo carts, and I remember spending £120 on one of the first Streetfighter carts on the SNES imported from japan. Compared with times gone, I get a lot more value from my expenditure these days! Have a good day bro..
@Medic_alert That's simply not true though is it? Average wage increases in the last year for example are %4.8 compared with inflation of %3. and you will see similar real wage growth in many years since the PS4 launched in 2013. Unless you live in a different UK than I do, your argument is not backed up by any data at all. If your personal circumstances are different then I'm sorry dude, I really am, but the figures show you are in a minority.
@Max_the_German The pro was developed to serve the interests of the 15% or so who would pay to have a 'pro' version. Stating its more complex to develop for exposes your lack of knowledge of dev processes or indeed the hardware differences of the two machines. With no extra development at all you already get improvement in base resolution and smoother frame rates. With very little extra dev time its fairly easy to recompile and add pssr upscaling - as long as the results are good with your engine. I don't understand why you would state something like that with no dev knowledge? I dont state anything with 100% conviction, but I was a dev for 20 years making AAA titles. If you wouldn't spend the money cause you think 2.5 years of use before a new gen is not enough, that's absolutely fine. Native PS5 is a fine machine and I'm happy that you are happy. Trying to frame the pro as a joke based on no knowledge at all though, is pretty low brow commentary.
@Medic_alert "I am simply stating that some of what Mark Cerny said when the PS5 launched has not come to pass and in the end this expensive machine" Do the maths bud. It cheaper to buy a PS5 today than it was to buy a PS4 on launch in 2013. Games are cheaper too. Bank of England has a handy 'inflation calculator' you can pop your figures into. If you don't understand the concept of inflation just run a search!
@Max_the_German Sorry but it statements like yours which are the real joke. Are you simply butt hurt that others play the game at higher res with smoother frame rates? Like it or not, a pro is the best place to play games right now if you care about performance. Whether that's worth it to you or not will be a value judgement everyone makes for themselves, but trying to laugh at other people's choices is very immature.
I would never play cod anyway, but knowing as a newbie that your gonna get feasted on by a bunch of hardcore players looking for a killstreak is the ultimate turn off.
@ApostateMage Mate, Im so sorry! I was mad for skateboarding in the late 70s and travelled the country doing it. Still got my board, but I also learnt the hard way that my skills are gone and not coming back.. Hoping you heal quick dude...
Ghost of Yotei has me entranced and I don't expect I'll play anything else for a while. Theres a new swiitch 2 in the house, but I'll leave it till my wifes birthday on 29th before we set that up. We are old now, but its still nice to get a suprise on the day!
Whatever you are playing, I hope you have a great weekend!
@ShogunRok Mick Gordan doesnt seem to miss and that track is absolutely fantastic. Not normally a genre Im mad for, but just that track makes me want to buy it..
@themightyant Thanks dude. Same here, my gaming is usually on PS5 pro and always on the big screen. Wasn't going to get a switch 2 till they had more exclusives I want to play, but Claire's dropped hints for her birthday and I do have a tradition of buying her handhelds (first one was the Sega Game Gear way back in time).
@themightyant @somnambulance I'm a little cheaper - I do buy a significant percentage of my games in the sales. Then they sit in the pile and wait till I catch up - if I ever do! I also get a lot of variety and get to try things I would never have bought from a sub service, but in my case I prefer PS plus extra. New releases that I know I want - I buy, so Game passes new releases are not a win for me, I either own it or wasn't that interested. I've found over the years that the bigger library of PS plus extra works better for me than gamepass, where the smaller games being added (ie non release day titles) have often already been on PS plus before they hit GP. Now the price increase is here I've dropped it and mothballed the series X, so its PS plus I rely on for all those sleeper titles I never knew I wanted. Whichever service, it just puts pressure on my backlog.
With the series X uninstalled I'm awaiting arrival of a switch 2 today - I'll give it to my wife for her birthday on 29th. God help my backlog!
@Steeleye50 I couldn't agree more, this is one of the all time great games and well worth repeated plays. I'd strongly encourage anyone who has not tried it to do so, I think most would enjoy it at least.
@themightyant Nice secondary list👍 I own 10 of those titles too though.. but not Neva which I might pick up at that price.. I also noticed SOT is £20 again. I'm thinking I can form a crew with my wife and enjoy time in the safe seas environment. We have two TV's and two pros in our living room, so this type of multiplayer is good for us - though the wife often uses the portal and sits next to me on the sofa (which is why I rarely get to use the portal) 😊 Now I've finally mothballed the series X, I'm looking to buy a switch 2 in the next week or so, so I think I need to save my money!
@electrolite77 I should have separated that sentence by a space so it was clearer that this was a generic comment on others behaviour rather than the reply to you - which was the earlier part of my reply.
So I'm not sure you were defending anything, and I apologise for not making that clear in my original reply. Have a great day!
@Ricky-Spanish
I'll read the comments again, maybe there's more of that going on than I first clocked. Its nice your here, though obviously its abit more sony-centric!
Have a good one 👍
@Ricky-Spanish Its a shame that you feel that way and I can only conclude you are feeling rather defensive yourself after MS shot themselves in the foot again. I dont see xbox gamers being attacked as much as the company. The exception to that is those who have stridently proclaimed how profitable the game pass model is - while it gets 100% increase since june 24 AND those that attacked anyone not in favour of the ABK deal which has ultimately screwed their traditional buisness model and lost xbox the semi-autominy it had always enjoyed in the past. I certainly havent enjoyed it. Ive always had every xbox and I used to sub to gpu without interruption until fairly recently. Pricing me out of the sub has left me with a machine I cant use and I uninstalled it yesterday with a heavy heart. Seriously mate, if you are upset at these articles, dont come here and read them. My understanding is you dont have playstation, so you could get the news you need on pure. Ive always found you to be upbeat and freindly, it would be a shame if you were to imesrse yourself in places which would change that if youve no need to consume that. Have a good day mate and enjoy your gaming 👍
@Weebleman I can only agree with you.
People discussing what is clearly the biggest news in gaming right now on a gaming site is clearly exactly what youd expect here.
The usual people who bristle the moment MS ever gets bad press are clearly upset, but its MS execs who killed their fave brand and deserve their ire, not those of us whove argued for ages that the service was clearly not sustainable.
To derride box loyalty whilst displaying it so clearly is laughable.
I guess to them 'irony' is not something they recognise.
@StitchJones It was a CB handle from way back in the day based on the french cartoon. When the net started up I misspelt the name but decided to keep it. I ran several sites as administrator as Titntin, if you ever used to grab psp or Wi roms you might have seen. Old habits die hard 😁
@electrolite77 No one has laid off as big a proportion of workforce as Microsoft, whilst still boasting aboout record profits. No one else has put up there harddware so often that it simply doesnt compete. No one else has doubled the price of their service since June 24. I have no words I can write here to describe people who wish to defend this behaviour.
Having finally played Spiderman Remastered and having 100% completed it early during the week, Im ready to be a ghost all weekend. Im really enjoying Ghost of Yotei and intend to savour the experience this weekend. Sadly, I will be unplugging and putting my series x away, as it was my Game Pass machine and I cant justify that subscription any longer following the changes. Sad times.
@StitchJones Yes mate a couple of frames of animation on intellivision football seemed revolutionary and I remember Kaboom well! I too have a backlog bigger than Ive ever had. People consistently tell me 'this is the worse generation of gaming ever' but that simply doesnt mesh with my experiences and the huge backlog of great titles I'm so keen to play. Thats OK, Im used to seeing life a little differently, and its clear that many people are loving and enjoying gaming as they always have. Have a great day mate, back to watching F1, but Im really keen on getting back to playing Atsu later!
@StitchJones Tron deadly discs eh? My fave Intellivision game 👍I was 15 when it was released in 79😊 I was a fanatic too, and left a high paying job with IBM to make games back in my mid 20's. Was lucky enough to work for all the major publishers, Sony, Microsoft, Ninty, EA and many many more. Still mad for my games today, and fortunately, so is my wife!
As said, respect for getting your view across..agree or not its good to see a range of views and I'm liking your comments.
I'm also glad you like the site. There are far too many who look for any excuse to moan as far I'm concerned, but there's some great characters here and some truly knowledgeable people here too. I hope we have many pleasant chats in the future, whether we agree or disagree!
@SterlingEyes Maybe I have. But its clear I'm 100% convinced of where your "psychological barrier" comes from, unless you'd like to state it originates from another place? Regardless, I bear you no ill will and hope I've not p*ssed you off! Have a good one.
@SterlingEyes Yup its an old man thing. As the decades go on you cant help but judge value by what you did in the past. Gigs were £3.50 to get into when I was around 20 and I remember buying a portion of chips for 2d when I was a kid ( pre decimalisation). Nothing marks you out as getting older than hanging onto old values of what things should cost. Im now in my sixties and have made a big effort in the last two decades to not fall into that trap. So I do understand, but this myth that games and hardware is more expensive doesnt survive any objective analysis and is perpertrated by people who used to buy games when they were younger. If thats you just wait a year or two to play the game and you get it much cheaper. At this stage in life a couple of years goes with the click of your fingers 😃 Appreciate your reply. Have a great day.
@StitchJones Your viewpoint is perfectly valid, but we dont have to agree with it, and I disagree with almost everything you've said.
Im a lot more invested in Atsu as a character than I ever was in Jin, and the story is far better written than the previous game.
I also believe if you cant see improvements in the game graphically, then I dont know what you are looking at. I do have 20 years game development history informing my opinion of the engine, but you may wish to conisider Jons review of this game on digital foundary where he points out some of these improvements in detail I could not replicate here.
Ultimately the engine is a delivery medium for Sucker Punch's fantastic artistry, and that style has not changed, which I applaud.
This game is already crafting a better and more memorable story and experience for me than the first, and I loved GOT.
Im sorry you are not enjoying this game as much, but that view is by no means the predominant view from the articles reviews and viewpoints Ive seen. Maybe it will grow on you as you get further into the game? I hope so!
Either way, it was worth you expressing a differing viewpoint to many, a variety of viewpoints is more useful than total consensus.
Have a good day.
My already dusty Series X is now going to get unplugged. It was a game pass server, I've bought almost nothing on it. Can't sell it as it refuses to connect to any controller wirelessly for any length of time, so in the attic it goes. I've always had an Xbox and a playstation, it gives me no pleasure to see what Xbox are doing to themselves.
I don't buy Konami games because of this horrid lack of support. There's enough titles published these days that I can play great games whilst ignoring Konami releases.
Wasn't sure EA could sink any lower in my opinion. However, they found a way to be scummier, (slow hand clap). Im ashamed to say I worked for these people...
Great cover. I've been buying/looking at Famitsu for about 40 years now. When gaming was still not a big thing here in the UK I used to have to go to the japan travel centre at St Pauls London to buy my issue every month, and I was learning the language back then as there was very little info on games in the west. I still have a lot of time for the publication and this sort of cover will no doubt help the game repeat it's success in Japan.
@Cerny You may wish to see Digital Foundrys piece. John was not keen on how stair climbing and inclines worked in the first game and notes its not fixed in this game. They do use IK solutions now, but feet will still pass through stairs. Despite this he makes a very compelling case for this work and what its achieved, so hopefully its not a deal breaker for you.
Thanks for the thorough review. I may be skint, but Ive just spent money I dont have and its downloading now. You could say I've been sucker punched.... ( I'll get my coat...)

Re: You Can Now Pre-Order God of War's 20th Anniversary PS5 Controller
This is such a low effort design its almost funny. Almost.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Ghost of Yotei?
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Ghost of Yotei?
@SterlingEyes Maybe I have. But its clear I'm 100% convinced of where your "psychological barrier" comes from, unless you'd like to state it originates from another place?
Regardless, I bear you no ill will and hope I've not p*ssed you off!
Have a good one.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Ghost of Yotei?
@SterlingEyes
Yup its an old man thing.
At this stage in life a couple of years goes with the click of your fingers 😃
Appreciate your reply. Have a great day.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Ghost of Yotei?
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Ghost of Yotei?
@SterlingEyes £70 now is cheaper than £50 ps4 games in 2013 when the ps4 launched ( which is about £74 in todays money.)
Its more than fair enough to prioritize where you spend your own money, but dont pretend its cause gaming is more expensive when its objectively not.
Re: PS Studios Celebrates Launch of Ghost of Yotei on PS5 with Gorgeous Artwork
I love this tradition, its a lovely thing to see between devs.
17:00 in 15 minutes and then I'm jumping in to this game, can't wait!
As for the first poster - not even worth a reply.
Re: PS Plus Looks Better Than Ever After New Xbox Game Pass Price Rises
My already dusty Series X is now going to get unplugged. It was a game pass server, I've bought almost nothing on it. Can't sell it as it refuses to connect to any controller wirelessly for any length of time, so in the attic it goes.
I've always had an Xbox and a playstation, it gives me no pleasure to see what Xbox are doing to themselves.
Re: Rock Band 4 to Be Delisted from PS Store After 10 Years of Support
If I wasn't being a ghost this weekend I'd break the guitar out and play a goodbye session.
Thanks Rock Band, it's been a blast!
Re: Silent Hill 2's Overdue PS5 Pro Fixes Now in Konami's Hands
I don't buy Konami games because of this horrid lack of support.
There's enough titles published these days that I can play great games whilst ignoring Konami releases.
Re: Mega Publisher EA Agrees to $55 Billion Buyout by Saudi Arabia, Silver Lake, Affinity Partners
Wasn't sure EA could sink any lower in my opinion. However, they found a way to be scummier, (slow hand clap).
Im ashamed to say I worked for these people...
Re: PS5's Ghost of Yotei Gets Glorious Illustrated Famitsu Cover
Great cover.
I've been buying/looking at Famitsu for about 40 years now. When gaming was still not a big thing here in the UK I used to have to go to the japan travel centre at St Pauls London to buy my issue every month, and I was learning the language back then as there was very little info on games in the west.
I still have a lot of time for the publication and this sort of cover will no doubt help the game repeat it's success in Japan.
Re: Ghost of Yotei (PS5) - The Greatest Sucker Punch Game Ever
@Cerny Wow. I wont pretend I understand your choices or reasons, but they are yours to make.
Have a great day!
Re: Ghost of Yotei (PS5) - The Greatest Sucker Punch Game Ever
@Nightcrawler71 Yes mate, Im in the uk and Im downloading now.... 85.139 GB
Re: Ghost of Yotei (PS5) - The Greatest Sucker Punch Game Ever
@Cerny You may wish to see Digital Foundrys piece. John was not keen on how stair climbing and inclines worked in the first game and notes its not fixed in this game. They do use IK solutions now, but feet will still pass through stairs. Despite this he makes a very compelling case for this work and what its achieved, so hopefully its not a deal breaker for you.
Re: Ghost of Yotei (PS5) - The Greatest Sucker Punch Game Ever
Thanks for the thorough review. I may be skint, but Ive just spent money I dont have and its downloading now.
You could say I've been sucker punched.... ( I'll get my coat...)
Re: Tokyo Xtreme Racer Makes Its Long-Awaited Return to PlayStation
Oooo!
Day 1 for me, many fond memories of the previous titles.
