Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 from Ninja Theory was pegged as a major console exclusive for the Xbox Series X|S when it was announced, after the original had found success on the PS4.
The sequel was later be ported to the PS5 as part of Microsoft’s shifting console strategy, where it received a muted reception due to its short running time and limited gameplay.
Now word comes way of work on a new entry in the series, although it’s unclear whether it’ll be Hellblade 3 or something fresh set in the franchise’s wider world.

Windows Central snoop Jez Corden is the source of the story, speaking on the Xbox Two podcast, as watched by Metro.
He says UK studio Ninja Theory is aiming for this entry to be “more interactive” than its immediate predecessors, which focused on narrative and visuals above all else. We’d expect a deeper combat system, then, perhaps more in line with the dev’s historic work on releases like Heavenly Sword and DmC: Devil May Cry.
Given Xbox’s status as a third-party publisher these days, we’d expect the third game to be available day-and-date on the PS5 – or, indeed, PS6 depending on how long development takes.
Elsewhere in the story, Corden notes that Ninja Theory’s previously announced experimental title Project Mara has likely been shelved, with the studio’s primary focus now pointed at whatever this new Hellblade title turns out to be.
