Re: PlayStation Stars Rewards Program Shutting Down, Sony Confirms

Titntin

Thats a shame! While I didnt care for the collectables and levels, I did enjoy getting a little 'cash back' from points trade ins and this helped me fund new purchases.
I guess it was not used so much as it never made it onto the console itself and relied on the PS app.
Still I didnt feel entitled to it and its removal will not affect me much. I don't see its removal as anti consumer - that's represented well by putting your game prices up to £80 😊

Re: Rockstar Quietly Increases Prices of Red Dead Redemption Games on PS4

Titntin

@Cornpop76 Whilst I don't disagree, you can simply buy psn credit cheaper - I always buy with about 15% discount. It takes a few minutes extra when I want to buy games, and to get the best discount rates I often buy £100 at a time, but %15 is significant and helps.
Couple that with nearly always waiting to buy in a sale and the funds I get fr om the PSN rewards scheme and I can't moan about the price I pay for most items...

Re: Site News: Where's Our Fantasy Life i PS5 Review?

Titntin

Love level 5, so I expect this to be good.
Its a shame if multiplayer is poor for those that wish to play that way. But thats absolutely not what these games are about for me and Id have been just as happy to see them not have such a mode.
Looking forward to this one!

Re: Just 4% of PS5, PS4 Fans Think PS Plus Premium Represents Good Value for Money

Titntin

@RiverGenie Ive never suggested that you should buy premium if you have no use for it, why would anyone do that?
As someone who occasionally likes to stream games before comitting to downloading and installing them, and has played quite a few of the premium titles, and values the new game trials, £1.66 is well worth it. Suggesting its some kind of rip off is insanity. No one needs to pay for it if they are not going to use it, simple.

I commend you for buying games you've played on gp, the world needs more of that. Im still on gp ultimate till 5th of next month, but I bought Oblivion remastered and Expedition 33 regardless this month, though I buy everything on ps5 as I prefer the platform. Indeed my series x is only a gp machine, fh4 being the only title Ive ever bought on it. On ps5 Ive bought 17 titles this year so far, many as a result of trying via ps plus trials which is another benefit of premium. Two as a result of trying on game pass.
Im not sure I see your point? We appear to behave in a similar fashion, im just much more attracted to ps eco system and I get good use from premium? Why would that upset you?
Regardless, happy gaming to you and I hope you are having a great day.

Re: Like It or Loathe It, This Is Why Sony Won't Stop Trying to Make Live Service Games for PS5

Titntin

I've no issue at all with them chasing this model as long as they do so whilst catering to other sectors of their market, which is exactly what they appear to be doing now. It would be pretty stupid to ignore it when it's the giants share of the profit for almost any platform holder and a very popular method of gaming, particularly for the younger audiences who are their future market as more and more of us oldies die off . People on this site never have, and never will, represent the bulk of the games market. I'm pretty happy about that, as so many are so miserable about a hobby that continues to make me and many more millions of people very happy.

Sony are doing just fine, making record profits (without immediately sacrificing large proportions of their staff), selling huge numbers of their platform and still delivering fantastic games of their own alongside 3rd party publishers (I can't wait for DS2 for example - and they had GOTY last year).

I don't understand people who suggest there are 'no games' when so many of us have backlogs larger than at any other time in the history of games ( I started with the original Atari 2600 in 1977 when I was 13yo and have never stopped). There has never been so much choice and quality in gaming.

The saying "You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time" has never rang so true.

Re: Just 4% of PS5, PS4 Fans Think PS Plus Premium Represents Good Value for Money

Titntin

This site continues to try and press 'outrage buttons' to drive up engagement. Its sad, but it works, so fair play.

At £1.66 a month above extra to access the premium titles and streaming, I'm perfectly fine with it.

Whilst I'll acknowledge you can get some great titles on Game pass, it's also %50 more money than a Premium sub, and you have to play on an Xbox, which is definitely not my preferred platform - and offers worse streaming quality than psn.
I've been on Game pass off and on (last 7 months have been great, but next 6 not so much for me), so I've just about to unsub there. I remain subbed to premium and will continue to remain so as I value it.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing DOOM: The Dark Ages?

Titntin

@themightyant No mate, I played TH 1&2 for about 2 hours, it just gave me a headache and no enjoyment. I'd try them, but its not worth much to me to do so. The next 6 months of GP would cost me another £90 and I'm just not seeing the value there, for my tastes. I bought Expedition 33 to support the devs and same with Oblivion remastered - which also means I play them on PS, which I prefer and means my wife gets to play them (she will not touch the Xbox, hates the controllers and wont hold em.) So value is going down for my situation and the value in GP was in the first 6 months, not seeing it in the last 6 months. It had a good run, after a year without subbing I subbed again for Indy and have kept it till now. The good thing with MS not offering a yearly price is that I can drop it as soon as its titles no longer appeal to me.
We can only hope for Silksong! Again though, I'd far rather 'own' it than rent it for a while and pay £180 a year to do so.

It should take a year or so before I manage to get through all the amazing titles in my backlog, and anything essential that releases I often prefer to buy, so I'm not missing anything by stopping GP. I had not subbed to GP for 13 months before september, quite happy to be without it.

P.S. Just started playing doom and I'm really enjoying it despite not getting on with most shooters.

Re: Capcom Fighting Collection 2 (PS4) - Deep Cuts and Cool Crossovers Make a Strong Combo

Titntin

Im not a fighting game specialist (i was always a schumup man), but I recognise a quality line up when I see it, and this is excellent, especially having the original powerstone, what a great game.

I also have to commend capcom for the attention to details it shows in every compilation release and the options it has. If you are switching between Japanese or English versions in the options screen for instance, the pictures of the cabinets in the background will change to reflect the version, with those having Japanese titles changing to reflect that different title. Class.

Thanks for the thorough review Sammy

Re: Poll: Are You Playing DOOM: The Dark Ages?

Titntin

Downloading it now on gp.
Once Ive played it I can safley unsub gp for a while, nothing much for me in the coming months, and I've so much to be play on ps5.

Ive fond memories of doom, but the last title got too fast and 'spinny' for my tastes, so I like the sound of this one and I'm hopeful I can play it without getting headaches 🙄

Re: Rumour: New PS5 Pro Update Could Give Frame Rates and Resolutions a Massive Boost

Titntin

@OldGamer999 Most often its talent. Theres still plenty of devs who can program their own bespoke engine and dont have to use ue5 for everything. These devs often produce superlative results with a fraction of the staff that are often working on ue5 titles by simply being excellent and inventive with what they do.

As for needing a massive budget and huge tool set to deliver, its simply not the case as a game like expedition 33 ably demonstrates...

Other teams have such a fantastic creative vision for their game that its fantastic without having every single piece of engine feature present. Rtao and relections cant save a weak aesthetic and poor designs.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 580

Titntin

I shall try and finish off Expedition 33, which Im enjoying and glad I bought, but dont love in the way so many people do.
Im looking forward to returning to AC Shadows, which I was enjoying very much.
For some light relief, I shall be racing in Forza Horizon 5 on the ps5 pro. Ive put hundreds of hours into it on Xbox, but racing with the subtle feedback on dualsense and racing without the annoying pop in @ 60hz has been a treat, and I can race with my wife who has her own pro and disliked playing with the xbox controller.

Whatever you are playing this weekend, I hope you have fun!

Re: PS5 Fans Furious As Microsoft Ships DOOM: The Dark Ages with Just 85MB on the Disc

Titntin

Headline is very misleading, the vast majority of PS5 players really dont care.
Many people have PCs and been happy with the all digital eco system there, and Ive been happilly all digital on all my consoles for some time and far prefer it.

However, if you are going to sell a disc, it absolutely should have the game code on it, anything less is plain misdirection and missselling. I expect such behaviour from Microsoft tbh, I have issues with the way they conduct their buisness and have since the 80s.
But....they now own many excellent dev houses and I buy digitally anyway, so I still buy their products. I will play this title regardless as Im currently on game pass, but its not a title I will likely buy.

Re: 60+ PS5, PS4 Games You Should Buy in PS Store's Next Level Savings Sale

Titntin

@Fiendish-Beaver Sorry mate, genuinly couldnt see any other reason for your post.
That MS have bought huge publishers and the rights to their games is not contetable, as is the point that they will now benefit from the sale of those games. But you called them MS made games, and I do not accept that at all, many were made long before MS had any involvement.
Someone could now buy all the rights to the Beatles songs, but they will always remain made by the Beatles no matter where new sales money goes. COD vanguard is not and never will be a game made by Microsoft, it was made by activision and will never be an 'xbox made' game.
I'll agree its ironic that xbox became a huge 3rd party publisher and make plenty of cash from selling on playstation. Its also amusing that sony get a 30% cut of all of that too. Funny how it all works out.
I'd still rather abk had never taken place and xbox were a strong platform offering real competition. I think you probably feel similar.
Have a great day.

Re: 60+ PS5, PS4 Games You Should Buy in PS Store's Next Level Savings Sale

Titntin

@Fiendish-Beaver
3 Microsoft published games out of over 60 and you think thats bragging rights? Games like COD Vanguard and Diablo 2 arent Microsoft games just because they subsequently bought the publisher....
For 70 billion and throwing away their entire hardware platform, you'd and expect them to get something, but thinking that gives you a brag over a platform that has dominated the xbox is beyond my understanding? As an xbox fan I'd far rather they had not spent that money, kept some exclusives and still had a hardware platform that made sense for the future.... but if you think having less than %5 of games in a sale outweighs that crippling loss, well I dont what to say to you...

As usual, some good choices here, but as theres always a big sale, its very difficult to get excited by yet another!

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

Titntin

Its an 8 for me.
No mini map is stupid and means theres barely a level I dont get turned around in and end up walking out the entrance several times. Its an unnecessary restriction which completely breaks immersion as any expedition would map where they have been.
I also dislike the non stop never ending qte of fighting. Im over 60 and enjoy jrpgs precisely because I dont need to be reminded that reflexes deteriorate at my time of life. Couple that with some questionable creature animations for working out your parry window and I barely ever manage to parry and find the combat long and arduous a result, unlike any jrpg Ive ever played. The systems and builds are good, but again, every single character is different and I would have preferred a little more cohesion.

The environments are good, as is the voice acting, but the story seems to have a few issues so far... maybe it will have less holes by the time Ive finished it?

So a good game, but nowhere near a 10 for me, Im left wandering if games are getting scored more on hype than substance..

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Oblivion Remastered?

Titntin

I gave it 7, nearly added an extra point for nostalgia, but I rate Avowed at 8, and even with nostalgia, this is not that games match, certainly in terms of combat, performance and the leveling system.
Its still good though, especially for those of us who were so enthralled by the title when it was released..

Re: Halo the Final PS5 Holdout of Xbox's Historic Big Three

Titntin

@UK_ Unfortunately Starfield was a big dissapointment to many of us. I thought they would improve it to the point of redemption, but its just not happened.
Appreciate some people loved it, but it was not as universally loved as expected....

I have appetite for the first three Halo games still, but I havent enjoyed one since...

Re: Poll: Vote for Your PS5 Game of the Month (April 2025)

Titntin

Not finished expedition 33 or that might be my pick, so my vote was for Blue Prince, a sublime game you appreciate more the more you play.
I don't think remasters are new games or I might have considered days gone, but not Oblivion which needs some patches to fix its performance.
Cant vote for Forza despite loving it - I was playing it many years ago, so to me its an old game (I still bought it though )
It was a great month..
