Downloading it now on gp. Once Ive played it I can safley unsub gp for a while, nothing much for me in the coming months, and I've so much to be play on ps5.
Ive fond memories of doom, but the last title got too fast and 'spinny' for my tastes, so I like the sound of this one and I'm hopeful I can play it without getting headaches 🙄
Excellent! I'm working my way towards my new play through, so the new options on pro are enticing. I was already happy with it in testing and played for far longer than intended when I tested it out... Balanced modes work pretty well for me.
Very happy with this selection, theres a lot of titles I want to try. If this lot didnt hold anything for you, bad luck, I hope next month is kinder to you.. Pretty poor to only have one title in premium added, but I expect better months.
@OldGamer999 Most often its talent. Theres still plenty of devs who can program their own bespoke engine and dont have to use ue5 for everything. These devs often produce superlative results with a fraction of the staff that are often working on ue5 titles by simply being excellent and inventive with what they do.
As for needing a massive budget and huge tool set to deliver, its simply not the case as a game like expedition 33 ably demonstrates...
Other teams have such a fantastic creative vision for their game that its fantastic without having every single piece of engine feature present. Rtao and relections cant save a weak aesthetic and poor designs.
Image quality enhancement is one of Sony's strong points - just look at their Tv motion processing which has remained best in the business for a very long time. That they will work hard to deliver ever improving versions of the PSSR tech was always a given, and I look forward to seeing what they can achieve.
I shall try and finish off Expedition 33, which Im enjoying and glad I bought, but dont love in the way so many people do.
Im looking forward to returning to AC Shadows, which I was enjoying very much.
For some light relief, I shall be racing in Forza Horizon 5 on the ps5 pro. Ive put hundreds of hours into it on Xbox, but racing with the subtle feedback on dualsense and racing without the annoying pop in @ 60hz has been a treat, and I can race with my wife who has her own pro and disliked playing with the xbox controller.
Whatever you are playing this weekend, I hope you have fun!
Headline is very misleading, the vast majority of PS5 players really dont care. Many people have PCs and been happy with the all digital eco system there, and Ive been happilly all digital on all my consoles for some time and far prefer it.
However, if you are going to sell a disc, it absolutely should have the game code on it, anything less is plain misdirection and missselling. I expect such behaviour from Microsoft tbh, I have issues with the way they conduct their buisness and have since the 80s. But....they now own many excellent dev houses and I buy digitally anyway, so I still buy their products. I will play this title regardless as Im currently on game pass, but its not a title I will likely buy.
@Fiendish-Beaver Sorry mate, genuinly couldnt see any other reason for your post. That MS have bought huge publishers and the rights to their games is not contetable, as is the point that they will now benefit from the sale of those games. But you called them MS made games, and I do not accept that at all, many were made long before MS had any involvement. Someone could now buy all the rights to the Beatles songs, but they will always remain made by the Beatles no matter where new sales money goes. COD vanguard is not and never will be a game made by Microsoft, it was made by activision and will never be an 'xbox made' game. I'll agree its ironic that xbox became a huge 3rd party publisher and make plenty of cash from selling on playstation. Its also amusing that sony get a 30% cut of all of that too. Funny how it all works out. I'd still rather abk had never taken place and xbox were a strong platform offering real competition. I think you probably feel similar. Have a great day.
@Robocod Ive soloed Diablo 4, its perfectly playable that way. I cant recommend it though Im afraid, Ive loved previous games but this one felt a huge chore and I was glad to finally finish it and move on.
@Fiendish-Beaver 3 Microsoft published games out of over 60 and you think thats bragging rights? Games like COD Vanguard and Diablo 2 arent Microsoft games just because they subsequently bought the publisher.... For 70 billion and throwing away their entire hardware platform, you'd and expect them to get something, but thinking that gives you a brag over a platform that has dominated the xbox is beyond my understanding? As an xbox fan I'd far rather they had not spent that money, kept some exclusives and still had a hardware platform that made sense for the future.... but if you think having less than %5 of games in a sale outweighs that crippling loss, well I dont what to say to you...
As usual, some good choices here, but as theres always a big sale, its very difficult to get excited by yet another!
Its an 8 for me.
No mini map is stupid and means theres barely a level I dont get turned around in and end up walking out the entrance several times. Its an unnecessary restriction which completely breaks immersion as any expedition would map where they have been.
I also dislike the non stop never ending qte of fighting. Im over 60 and enjoy jrpgs precisely because I dont need to be reminded that reflexes deteriorate at my time of life. Couple that with some questionable creature animations for working out your parry window and I barely ever manage to parry and find the combat long and arduous a result, unlike any jrpg Ive ever played. The systems and builds are good, but again, every single character is different and I would have preferred a little more cohesion.
The environments are good, as is the voice acting, but the story seems to have a few issues so far... maybe it will have less holes by the time Ive finished it?
So a good game, but nowhere near a 10 for me, Im left wandering if games are getting scored more on hype than substance..
I gave it 7, nearly added an extra point for nostalgia, but I rate Avowed at 8, and even with nostalgia, this is not that games match, certainly in terms of combat, performance and the leveling system. Its still good though, especially for those of us who were so enthralled by the title when it was released..
@UK_ Unfortunately Starfield was a big dissapointment to many of us. I thought they would improve it to the point of redemption, but its just not happened.
Appreciate some people loved it, but it was not as universally loved as expected....
I have appetite for the first three Halo games still, but I havent enjoyed one since...
@Fiendish-Beaver nice to see man. I was shocked how much I reacted and remembered Days Gone when I played it the other day. Im so looking forward till I can give it my full attention again.
@JudasGoat exactly the same mate. I have GP ultimate, but I bought this title to show my support for a small dev team. Im also playing on pro, though this style of game would be fine on any of the systems of course. Delighted its done so well..
Not finished expedition 33 or that might be my pick, so my vote was for Blue Prince, a sublime game you appreciate more the more you play.
I don't think remasters are new games or I might have considered days gone, but not Oblivion which needs some patches to fix its performance.
Cant vote for Forza despite loving it - I was playing it many years ago, so to me its an old game (I still bought it though )
It was a great month..
@Northern_munkey Congrats! I hope you enjoy it mate. I know you like your sims, but this is still a good driving model and there are so many fun things to do I'm sure you will like it
Im reinstalling now to give it another play. I love it, but with my old man reactions I never got past the third boss despite playing for 81 hours.
Im a sucker for punishment though, and this was a pure class game and one of the best this gen by a long way. The sound design is epic, every raindrop in its own 3d space is not something that could be done without ps5 as sound systems like atmos have much more limited sound sources than the ps5 audio engine does.. Im a sucker for these sort of details..
@Mythologue Whilst I agree with you, FH4 is better, it's also discontinued and you can't buy it any longer. On PS5, FH5 is the only one and it's still well worth playing.
I called it the moment EA bought them. Having been part of Bullfrog and experienced what EA do to companies first hand, I remember posting on this very site that they wouldn't be making these games very much longer. The Companies that EA have destroyed in this way make a very impressive list: Visceral (Dead Space) - shut down in 2017 Mythic (Dark Age of Camelot) - Purchased by EA in 2006; shut down in 2014. Bullfrog (Syndicate, Dungeon Keeper) - Purchased by EA in 1995; shut down in 2001. Origin (Ultima, Wing Commander) - Purchased by EA in 1992; shut down in 2004. Westwood (Command & Conquer) - Purchased by EA in 1998; shut down in 2003. DreamWorks Interactive/Danger Close/EA Los Angeles (Medal of Honor) - Purchased by EA in 2000; shut down in 2013. Phenomic (SpellForce, BattleForge) - Purchased by EA in 2006; shut down in 2013. Black Box Games (Need for Speed, Skate) - Purchased by EA in 2002; shut down in 2013. Pandemic (The Saboteur) - Purchased by EA in 2008; shut down in 2009. PlayFish (The Sims Social) - Purchased by EA in 2009; shut down in 2013. NuFX (NBA Street) - Purchased by EA in 2004; shut down in 2007.
I'm sure there are plenty of others. Being acquired by EA is the beginning of the end.
@AverageGamer Thank you, that's really helpful info. It would appear they do have the capacity to be developing a new Forza then... I look forward to seeing it!
@Silenos I completely agree with you, I've played all the forza Horizon games and FH5 is certainly not the best. FH4 was the sweet spot, you felt like you had progression and some of those courses were the best I'd ever raced - particularly on the 'Treasure Island' DLC. That's not to say FH5 is awful, its clearly not, it's just not the best. Of course those who've never played FH before will try and disagree with you, but they are showing their ignorance of the series. It doesn't matter, I'm glad they are enjoying themselves.
It's great to play this on a pro - its fixed all the things that bugged me on the series X release which forced me to play PC. I may have bought this twice already, but I was glad to triple dip! I'd pay a LOT, for FH4 on PS5, but now its discontinued, it will never happen.
Thanks for this review. It does seem to reflect my own time with the title and I've put this to one side hoping they will fix it and at least make it not stutter so much when traveling fast across the land... there's plenty of other titles to play whilst I wait for them to fix this one.
@puddinggirl Thank you, I should have checked more thoroughly! up to 9/10 now 😊. Much to my suprise, I'm over 60 now and reactions get worse, its inevitable, and I struggle to get the QTE's all the time on this game, much to my shame.
Clearly the lack of mapping was an intentional choice, but it was the wrong one imo. No expedition ever would not map where they are going - it's stupid and an unnecessary restriction. If it were restricted to merley mapping where you had been, it would be like it would be in real life and serve its purpose without giving anything away.
It is indeed great they are getting such high recognition though.. very pleased, and I bought the game despite having Game Pass Ultimate and a Series X to show support.
How lovely to see it earn such praise! It's a fantastic game from such a small dev team and I'm sure once I'm finished it will have left a mark on me. However, I'd have given it a 8.5/10 right now due to the 'no mini map' decision and constant QTE in battles, both decisions I definitely would have not made, but in every other aspect its really excellent and memorable. I'm happy to see a JRPG win over many who would not traditionally play them though 😊
I cant pretend I haven't got a plethora of other titles to play while I wait for them to fix it. I also cant pretend that watching the game turn into a slideshow if you fight several opponents at once isnt the authentic Oblivion experience. But I was hoping that was in the past!
I paid full price for this, but theres a strong possibility it'll have a discount buy the time they get this running properly - assuming they ever do 🤣 I never learn, I get excited and hit buy before I know it. I may be an old man but I still act like a teenager sometimes..
Loved it back in the day, and I couldn't believe how good the remaster looks on a pro when I tried it at the weekend.
I realise that this seems to be a marmite game, but for those of us that loved it, this update makes it even better and I'm looking forward to trying it again. A long way forward though, there's so many good games to play atm I just don't know when I'll get the time!
Expedition 33 is sublime, Im really enjoying it. A freind came round last night and wanted to see the Days Gone remaster. I was shocked by how much better it looks on the pro, as all the media Id seen till then seemed to show little difference. We were playing that almost all night, and I cant wait to give that some serious attention..
Whatever you are playing this weekend I hope you are having fun!
@MrPeanutbutterz I can see how that might have made conversation difficult for you. 😉 Only joking of course, I get it, youve made your point abundently clear in several posts. But no one needs to bow down to your assessment, and Im one of several who dont agree with it.

I realise that this seems to be a marmite game, but for those of us that loved it, this update makes it even better and I'm looking forward to trying it again. A long way forward though, there's so many good games to play atm I just don't know when I'll get the time!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 578
Re: Site News: Where's Our Days Gone Remastered PS5 Review?
@MrPeanutbutterz I can see how that might have made conversation difficult for you. 😉
Only joking of course, I get it, youve made your point abundently clear in several posts.
But no one needs to bow down to your assessment, and Im one of several who dont agree with it.
