If fresh rumours are to be believed, Sony's big PS5 Pro update should be right around the corner.
This is the PSSR enhancement that's been talked about for a couple of years now. The update will improve the AI-driven tech, which already allows for better image quality without sacrificing performance in certain PS5 games.
Much of this new talk stems from Japanese X (or Twitter) user @Gust_FAN, who regularly relays PlayStation-related deals alongside the occasional leak. The account's just put together a summary of information on the PSSR update.
The headline here is that it's supposedly set to release between now and March. If true, we'll no doubt be receiving official word from Sony in the near future.
What's more, the update will apparently implement a feature equivalent to AMD's FSR4 — an upscaler that can provide some very impressive boosts to image quality on PC.
This is on top of an overall PSSR upgrade that'll provide general improvements to visuals and performance. It's said that additional frame rate enhancements can be expected — even amongst titles that are already topping 60 frames-per-second.
Meanwhile, "classic games" — we assume this means PS4 games played via backwards compatibility — may enjoy high resolution upscaling.
It all sounds great, doesn't it? But as always, we'll have to wait and see whether these rumours turn out to be accurate. Again, we should know soon enough if this update really is dropping within the next month or so.
