Re: Terminator 2D: No Fate (PS5) - A Brief Blast of 16-Bit Nostalgia

PuppetMaster

"Very short first playthrough"

This isn't a con but more like the genre staple which usually provide pure and quick gameplay where players doesn't need to dedicate a lot of hours of their limited playing time to complete the game. It's just different compare to RPG's, open world games, or standard single player games where focus on narrative and padding to get that 10-15 hours running time.

And beside Huntdown and Cuphead, i rarely see any 2D run & gun games who plays more than an hour / two for the 1st playthrough. Most like Contra, Metal Slug, Blazing Chrome, Gunstar Heroes, Broforce, Sunset Riders, Alien Soldier etc can be done in less than an hour for 1st playthrough.

Re: Mega Man: Dual Override Brings Back the Blue Bomber in 2027 on PS5, PS4

PuppetMaster

Welcome back Blue Bomber and it's about time! 😍

I was like, Capcom would be stupid if they didn't use the hype from Secret Level episode to announce a new Mega Man game. Fortunately they did.

But i'm curious why they didn't title it as Mega Man 12. The art style looks very similar and it feels like it took place in the original timeline + after MM 11.

Re: Poll: How Would You Rate The Game Awards 2025?

PuppetMaster

It's pretty good and i think maybe better than last year.

Banger announcement for me:

  • Mega Man: Dual Override
  • Ace Combat 8
  • Gang of Dragon
  • Control Resonant

TR re-remake & Catalyst looks okay and RE 9, Pragmata, Phantom Blade, and Saros looks very solid.

2026 & 2027 looks stacked!

Re: Want a Three Minute Slot During The Game Awards? That'll Be $1 Million, Please

PuppetMaster

$1 million to my country currency would be 16 billion IDR, which is A LOT. If i have that much money, i would use it to build a school, orphanage, and a small business and i still have a lot of leftover enough to live for maybe a decade or more haha.

But eh, this is Mr Doritos & Mountain Dew event. He can charge whatever he wants and these ultra rich companies wouldn't mind to pay to advertise their products. So, good for him i guess...

Re: Evo 2026 Games Revealed, Lack of Marvel Tokon Raises PS5 Release Date Questions

PuppetMaster

I don't think there's any worry with Tokon release date. Even if it's coming out in April or May, it will still missed out both EVO Japan and Vegas because the game is too brand new and Sony / ArcSys not yet announce the pro tour circuit. But it could be included in EVO France.

@AdamNovice The "FGC" as usual are overreacting. The negative reactions & discourse came from people who didn't played and just parrotting what some big content creators said on twitter. Some also still can't accept the fact that Tokon doesn't play like MvC.

Not to mention the closed beta doesn't have training mode and only 8 characters which definitely not the full roster.

Re: 'The Franchise Has Not Met Your Expectations': Call of Duty Vows to Overdeliver After Black Ops 7 Misfire

PuppetMaster

I think the series is simply running out of gas. The devs just doesn't have enough good ideas anymore of how to keep the series at high quality as well fresh and interesting because the series yearly nature.

I mean, there's more than 50 COD games with Blops 7 as the 22nd game in the mainline series since COD 1st debut back in 2003. Imagine pumping out 50+ games in the span of 22 years and there's not much change between each game. I can't think of other FPS who has as many games as COD.

So it's bound to happen that sooner than later the series became dull and people including some diehard fans had enough of it...

Re: PlayStation Wrap-Up 2025 Live Now, Get Your Gaming Stats for the Year

PuppetMaster

My stats:

  • Played 94 games
  • 798 hours playing time
  • 477 trophies including 1 Platinum (NG Ragebound)
  • Top 5 games:
    1. Street Fighter 6 = 428 hours
    2. Wild Arms 3 = 26 hours
    3. Okami HD = 25 hours
    4. Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound = 25 hours
    5. FF VIII HD = 22 hours
  • Gaming style = Brawler

Another year of SF 6 dominated my gaming time although i think this year i played less compare to last year.

And while it's always fun to see this stats, sadly Sony doesn't track my playing time & trophies with PS3 and Vita. Oh well...

Edit:
Tried to get the avatar reward but somehow the redeem code is invalid :/

Re: 'The Development Speed Is Amazing': Shuhei Yoshida Says Japanese Studios ο»ΏCan't Keep Pace with China

PuppetMaster

I don't think it's solely because China has more population than Japan or how they can pay less but "forced" their devs to do more crunch. India for example has 1.45 billion population and low salary but we didn't see them making games like China.

It's just Japan still stuck with old tradition and dreaming their bubble era that already gone decades ago. They didn't improved much. Meanwhile China keeps learning and improving from their mistakes to get better and better results.

Just look how company like Nintendo who's still doing baffling decisions that made you wonder if their boomer higher ups are still trap in the 60-70's.

So it's not a surpise if Chinese devs gets better and better to the point Japanese and other devs can't keep up with their pace. Their success doesn't happen with just one night but they worked hard for almost a decade to reach this point.

And it's no wonder why SIE decided to invest on Chinese devs back in 2016 with China Hero Project. They've predicted Chinese devs has potential to become bigger and rival or even surpass Japanese, EU, and American devs which is happening right now.

Re: Yakuza / Like a Dragon Celebrates 20th Anniversary, Kiryu Fans Won't Want to Miss It

PuppetMaster

@Stepan It think it's worth it. I only played Kurohyo 1 demo and the combat was quite different compare to the main games but really brutal and fun.

It's focus more on 1 vs 1 like a fighting game than a brawler / beat em up and you have multiple different martial arts that you can used. If you ever played or enjoyed Def Jam: Fight for NY which also by the same developer who developed Kurohyo, i think you will like the game.

Also, the protagonist background and the story setting that focus on underground fighting circuit are really interesting.

Re: Yakuza / Like a Dragon Celebrates 20th Anniversary, Kiryu Fans Won't Want to Miss It

PuppetMaster

I've been playing and a fan of the series since PS2 era. I owned almost all main games (except Y7 and 8), Kiwami 1 & 2, 3-5 remasters, and the spin off Dead Souls, Ishin, Judgement & Last Judgement, and FotNS.

Despite right now my interest for the series is almost completely dried up but i must admit that Yakuza is still one of my most favorite series.

Beside Black Panther or Kenzan remaster, i don't have any wishes for the series future. I'm ready to moved on from it once Black Panther or Kenzan got remastered.

But big thanks and salute for Nagoshi and his team for created this awesome series 🍻

Re: Tekken Director Katsuhiro Harada Announces Departure After 30 Years at Bandai Namco

PuppetMaster

End of an era...

Despite some of his blunders for Tekken 8, all his contributions made Tekken a very popular and one of the biggest fighting games series ever.

So, salute for Harada and i hope he enjoyed his retirement πŸ«‘πŸ‘

@Oram77 Sadly the series is officially dead brother. Harada was the only person in Bamco who cares about Soul Calibur. With him left the company, the series will be buried deeper.

Re: Cancelled First-Party PS5 Game Leaks Online in Gameplay Videos

PuppetMaster

Yeah this is hard to judge because of the unfinished state. It feels like a TPS similar to Gears of War but with RPG elements?

But you know what, i think Sony could make another action hack & slash games similar to Heavenly Sword. Heck, i think they should just hired Team Ninja, Platinum, Capcom, or Hideki Kamiya studio for a Heavenly Sword reboot with different setting and protag.
