This isn't a con but more like the genre staple which usually provide pure and quick gameplay where players doesn't need to dedicate a lot of hours of their limited playing time to complete the game. It's just different compare to RPG's, open world games, or standard single player games where focus on narrative and padding to get that 10-15 hours running time.
And beside Huntdown and Cuphead, i rarely see any 2D run & gun games who plays more than an hour / two for the 1st playthrough. Most like Contra, Metal Slug, Blazing Chrome, Gunstar Heroes, Broforce, Sunset Riders, Alien Soldier etc can be done in less than an hour for 1st playthrough.
My 1st thought was "Titanfall 3?! No way!" and then when Geoff said new IP and the trailer showed another PvP hero / raid shooter stuff and i like meh π
I thought it looks better than i expected. I just hope the fight coreograph looks good without stupid shaky-cam.
But i'm not sure why they used Ken SF V look, Zangief alternate SF VI look, and Cammy got the Killer Bee / SF Alpha look while the rest of SF II World Warrior got their original looks π€
Welcome back Blue Bomber and it's about time! π
I was like, Capcom would be stupid if they didn't use the hype from Secret Level episode to announce a new Mega Man game. Fortunately they did.
But i'm curious why they didn't title it as Mega Man 12. The art style looks very similar and it feels like it took place in the original timeline + after MM 11.
$1 million to my country currency would be 16 billion IDR, which is A LOT. If i have that much money, i would use it to build a school, orphanage, and a small business and i still have a lot of leftover enough to live for maybe a decade or more haha.
But eh, this is Mr Doritos & Mountain Dew event. He can charge whatever he wants and these ultra rich companies wouldn't mind to pay to advertise their products. So, good for him i guess...
I have like 7K fighters coin from Shin Akuma and weekly challenge. So i'm probably gonna unlock SF Alpha, 3, and V battle hud if one of them around 1-2K.
@nomither6 What are you talking about? GoW 1 not just sold really well but it was very popular. I've seen a lot of people included GoW 1 as one of the must have PS2 titles.
I don't think there's any worry with Tokon release date. Even if it's coming out in April or May, it will still missed out both EVO Japan and Vegas because the game is too brand new and Sony / ArcSys not yet announce the pro tour circuit. But it could be included in EVO France.
@AdamNovice The "FGC" as usual are overreacting. The negative reactions & discourse came from people who didn't played and just parrotting what some big content creators said on twitter. Some also still can't accept the fact that Tokon doesn't play like MvC.
Not to mention the closed beta doesn't have training mode and only 8 characters which definitely not the full roster.
I think the series is simply running out of gas. The devs just doesn't have enough good ideas anymore of how to keep the series at high quality as well fresh and interesting because the series yearly nature.
I mean, there's more than 50 COD games with Blops 7 as the 22nd game in the mainline series since COD 1st debut back in 2003. Imagine pumping out 50+ games in the span of 22 years and there's not much change between each game. I can't think of other FPS who has as many games as COD.
So it's bound to happen that sooner than later the series became dull and people including some diehard fans had enough of it...
I don't think it's solely because China has more population than Japan or how they can pay less but "forced" their devs to do more crunch. India for example has 1.45 billion population and low salary but we didn't see them making games like China.
It's just Japan still stuck with old tradition and dreaming their bubble era that already gone decades ago. They didn't improved much. Meanwhile China keeps learning and improving from their mistakes to get better and better results.
Just look how company like Nintendo who's still doing baffling decisions that made you wonder if their boomer higher ups are still trap in the 60-70's.
So it's not a surpise if Chinese devs gets better and better to the point Japanese and other devs can't keep up with their pace. Their success doesn't happen with just one night but they worked hard for almost a decade to reach this point.
And it's no wonder why SIE decided to invest on Chinese devs back in 2016 with China Hero Project. They've predicted Chinese devs has potential to become bigger and rival or even surpass Japanese, EU, and American devs which is happening right now.
I'm surprised a busy actress like her played very niche game like Concrete Genie. But i wonder if her statement could give a little sales boost for the game...
DJ Harada with Tekken mixed isn't on my bingo card π
And yeah, Tekken music rarely dissapointing. Some of my favorites track are Electric Fountain (Tekken 6), Poolside and the remix (Tekken 5 & 7), Jungle Outpost (Tekken 7), and Abyss of Time (Tekken Tag 2).
@Stepan It think it's worth it. I only played Kurohyo 1 demo and the combat was quite different compare to the main games but really brutal and fun.
It's focus more on 1 vs 1 like a fighting game than a brawler / beat em up and you have multiple different martial arts that you can used. If you ever played or enjoyed Def Jam: Fight for NY which also by the same developer who developed Kurohyo, i think you will like the game.
Also, the protagonist background and the story setting that focus on underground fighting circuit are really interesting.
I've been playing and a fan of the series since PS2 era. I owned almost all main games (except Y7 and 8), Kiwami 1 & 2, 3-5 remasters, and the spin off Dead Souls, Ishin, Judgement & Last Judgement, and FotNS.
Despite right now my interest for the series is almost completely dried up but i must admit that Yakuza is still one of my most favorite series.
Beside Black Panther or Kenzan remaster, i don't have any wishes for the series future. I'm ready to moved on from it once Black Panther or Kenzan got remastered.
But big thanks and salute for Nagoshi and his team for created this awesome series π»
Despite some of his blunders for Tekken 8, all his contributions made Tekken a very popular and one of the biggest fighting games series ever.
So, salute for Harada and i hope he enjoyed his retirement π«‘π
@Oram77 Sadly the series is officially dead brother. Harada was the only person in Bamco who cares about Soul Calibur. With him left the company, the series will be buried deeper.
@RoomWithaMoose You're clueless af if you think her statement wasn't dumb. Good news that you didn't work as her advisor or you gonna tell her to double down her actions π€¦ββοΈ
Yeah this is hard to judge because of the unfinished state. It feels like a TPS similar to Gears of War but with RPG elements?
But you know what, i think Sony could make another action hack & slash games similar to Heavenly Sword. Heck, i think they should just hired Team Ninja, Platinum, Capcom, or Hideki Kamiya studio for a Heavenly Sword reboot with different setting and protag.
I don't have any prediction but it would be really funny if someone sneaking on the stage like that kid "reformed Orthodox Rabbi Bill Clinton" did back in 2022 π
@gamepadnomad I say it's embarassing for Nintendo didn't outsell Sony during BF considering Switch 2 launch with more hype and doesn't have stock problems. Compare to PS5 who launched during Covid years that leads to a long period of stock problems because global semi-conductor shortage.

Re: Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve Revealed, Soars onto PS5 in 2026
Pretty excited for this game. Been playing the series since PS1 era started with Ace Combat 3 then continue with AC 4, 5, 0, Infinity, and 7.

Re: Poll: How Would You Rate The Game Awards 2025?
It's pretty good and i think maybe better than last year.
Banger announcement for me:
TR re-remake & Catalyst looks okay and RE 9, Pragmata, Phantom Blade, and Saros looks very solid.
2026 & 2027 looks stacked!
Re: PS5's Phantom Blade Zero Poised to Be the Next Big Thing from 9th September
Really hype for this game!
Re: PS5 Exclusive Saros Delayed, But Pre-Orders Are Live Right Now
I think it's a good decision since March looks pretty stacked.
Re: Leon Kennedy Really Is in Resident Evil Requiem, New Trailer Confirms
Well i guess that can calm down the fans who keeps asking for old characters. I personally hope Grace still dominate the majority of the game.
Re: Sony Announces 4Loop, the Next Co-Op Game from the Creator of Left 4 Dead
Has Helldivers vibe and kinda looks fun although i need to see more.
Re: Ex-Yakuza Director Reveals Gang of Dragon, Which Is Basically a New AAA Yakuza Game
Yes! Nagoshi is back and his new game looks a lot more hype than the current Yakuza games.
Re: Control Resonant from Remedy Revealed, Out in 2026 for PS5
It's looking good although i'm surprised with Dylan as the protag and this time Jesse going rogue. Definitely on my wishlist.
Re: Tomb Raider Game Reveals Seem to Leak Ahead of The Game Awards
I don't think TR 1 really need another remake when last year it received a nice remaster and this year Anniversary just released for PS4/5...

@MrPeanutbutterz Not just ost and stages but you can buy challenger images, announcer, colors, and titles with drive tickets.

@Carnage I'm not yet watch Ne Za 2, only seen the trailer. But i think China animation also helped how fast they advanced in video game.

@somnambulance Sony didn't run the event anymore. The Saudi's through Qiddiya and Nodwin Gaming bought EVO back in september.
Re: 'Some of the Most Cinematic Experiences I've Ever Had': Guillermo del Toro Heaps Praise on God of War
Guilermo probably one of the few Hollywood director who really knows what's he talking about when comes to video games, anime, and manga.
But i'm surprised that Sony never try to hire him to handle one of their game to movie adaptation.

@twitchtvpat This game already have Ken and Chun Li as guest character. So i don't think they will add Ryu or other non-SNK characters.
Re: PlayStation Wrap-Up 2025 Live Now, Get Your Gaming Stats for the Year
My stats:
1. Street Fighter 6 = 428 hours
2. Wild Arms 3 = 26 hours
3. Okami HD = 25 hours
4. Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound = 25 hours
5. FF VIII HD = 22 hours
Another year of SF 6 dominated my gaming time although i think this year i played less compare to last year.
And while it's always fun to see this stats, sadly Sony doesn't track my playing time & trophies with PS3 and Vita. Oh well...
Edit:
Tried to get the avatar reward but somehow the redeem code is invalid :/

Blue Mary and Freeman appeared in the arcade story so they probably the first two characters for S2.
Re: PlayStation Teases 2026 PS5 Games in New Trailer
2026 is really stacked even if say GTA 6 got delayed again.
But for me, next year will be a lot more stacked because i have plan to grab games from my wish list like NG 4, DS 2, Yotei, Space Marine 2, etc etc.

Dang. Even after goes completely multiplats, no more exclusive deal with Sony, the sales are still "weak" and didn't satisfy the shareholders.
So what's SE should do next to satisfy their shareholders beside making good games and fixing their management?
