John Wick PS5 Game Has an Original Story That's Part of the Canon, Movie Director Involved 1

In case you missed it, a brand new John Wick game has been announced for PS5.

While the popular action movie franchise has dipped its toe into the gaming world before, most notably with John Wick Hex, this upcoming title promises to be a bigger blockbuster that shares a lot more in common with the films.

It's being developed by Saber Interactive, which has made many great games in the past, including some other movie adaptations, such as Evil Dead: The Game, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, and World War Z: Aftermath.

The good news is that the development team is working very closely with the right people to ensure the game is authentically John Wick. Chad Stahelski, director of the films, is involved, as is Keanu Reeves and the people at Lionsgate.

The game, which doesn't have a title yet, features an original story that fits into the wider storyline. "This game takes place during a specific period within the John Wick timeline and contributes to the expansive and rich lore of the franchise," the PS Blog post reads.

"The story is being created in collaboration with our writers, Chad Stahelski, and Lionsgate. It is an original gameplay narrative that addresses a significant time in John Wick’s life, featuring well-known and iconic characters, as well as compelling new characters specifically created for this production."

Moreover, the game aims to ape the style and action from the movies, with the character's "gun-fu" combat replicated in gameplay. It seems there's an effort to replicate the visual style and cinematography, too.

It sounds like, all being well, this could be the John Wick game fans have been waiting for. Are you excited for this one? Tell us in the comments section below.
