@Striker21 "The real question is why you aren't interested in Xbox games coming to PlayStation"
It's a simple reason: they're not interesting or looks fun for me, just like i'm not interested with some games / franchise including from Sony themself.
FYI. I've played and finished Halo: Combat Evolved and Gears 1 on PC like eons ago just to see what's the hype and both games was okay for me, nothing that makes me "i must own an Xbox to play these games".
"It appears that the only reason you are not "thrilled" with Xbox first-party games is your pure hatred for the Xbox brand, which stems from the "console war" toxic mentality and your desire to keep your PS5 in a "clean state"
Lel. This actually makes me chuckle.
"It's just typical manchild behavior that is illogical at its core"
The only manchild here is you who's yapping about console war, can't accept the fact that there's people who's not interested with Xbox games, and written tldr of how great Xbox is. You Xbox fanboys are amazing π
@LogicStrikesAgain Yeah next year is really packed for PS owners. I count at least 10 games from my wishlist that i want to buy and that's not include games from this year that i'm not yet buy like DS 2, Yotei, NG 4, Earthion, R-Type HD, Absolum etc. So many games but my wallet and times are very limited π
@darylb24 Sony actually released four single players games for PS5 launch: Spiderman Miles Morales, Demon Souls remake, Sackboy Big Adventure, and Astro Playroom. Make it five if we count Spiderman remastered.
In 2022, they released three single player games; GoW Ragnarok, Horizon FW, and TloU 1 remake.
And in 2024 also released three single player games; Astro Bot, Lego Horizon, and TloU 2 remastered. Make it five if we count Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin since Sony published both games.
@Dalamar Not three but four games confirmed from 1st party: Saros, Wolverine, Tokon, and MLB 26.
The thing is it could be more considering some studios like Firesprite, Dark Outlaw Games, and Santa Monica already working on their new games for at least 3 years. Maybe we will see one of them on TGA or January-March SoP.
Not to mention Guerilla also could show their online Horizon. Who knows.
But i guess all these 1st party games doesn't matter since you don't like Sony games anymore right?
It's crazy how MS made hundreds of billion revenue every year, double or maybe tripple compare to Sony revenue. But somehow MS can't even hired smart and competence people to handle Xbox.
But what on earth OpenAI is doing by hoarding all those DRAM?! Are they creating Skynet or something?!
Somehow the world keeps getting fked by Americans. From orange man fked up the tariff and now another American company messed up with DRAM prices π
@Bizzy "Sonyβs framework is structured to monetise classic titles repeatedly, requiring either overpriced repurchases or ongoing subscription fees to rent those games"
Not really.
I bought like over 30 PS1 classics & PSP games from PS3 & PSP store. All of them was quite cheap between $5-9 and Sony let me owned some of them again for FREE on PS4 & PS5 without sub to PS+. Those games are:
Wild Arms 1
Wild Arms 2
The Legend of Dragoon
Killzone Liberation
Syphon Filter 1
Grandia 1
RE 1 Director's Cut
RE 2
RE 3
Dino Crisis 1
Twisted Metal 1
Warhawk
And PS2 classics that i bought from PS4, they're also pretty cheap, are working on PS5 without any additional money or PS+ requirement:
J&D 1
J&D 2
Wild Arms 3
Rogue Galaxy
Dark Cloud 2
Ape Escape 2
Sure, Sony aren't perfect with their backward compatibility. I wish PS5 has BC with PS1-PS3 disc. But at least what Sony did is still much better compare to Nintendo. None of Wii, Wiiu, or 3DS digital games can be played on Switch 1 & 2 and if you want to play some old Nintendo games, you need to buy them again or subs to Nintendo subscription.
Splinter Cell: Blacklist / PS3 Just done watching all Splinter Cell: Deadwatch episodes which was pretty good. The tv show gave me a reason to buy a secondhand copy of Blacklist ($6-7), the only SC game i didn't owned on PS3. So far i really enjoyed the game despite Sam new voice actor sounds a lot younger compare to Michael Ironside veteran voices. I think Liev Schreiber did a good job with Sam's voices. Currently i'm on mission 4.
Resonance of Fate / PS3 I'm still at chapter 3, doing side quest and a bit grinding.
Onimusha 2 HD demo / PS4 After all these years this game still looks, sounds, and plays really good. Although there's no option for Japan dub. Oh well, i'm waiting for physical copy which will release next year.
Sadly, even if BLOPS 7 ended as a "flop", i bet it still sold millions of copies and lot more than creative / unique IP's like Kunitsu Gami, Tearaway, Hi-Fi Rush, Gravity Rush, Puppeteer, Haunting Ground etc that deserves to sell well...sigh π
@JP80 It's the same idea with revisit classic movies, music, manga, anime, cartoon, or literature. Many of them are timeless masterpiece and sometimes you found new detail that you missed out in your 1st playthrough.
At least once a year i replayed retro games like MGS 1, RE 2, Contra, Castlevania SotN, GoW 1/2, SF III 3rd Strike etc.
Ubisoft used to makes games with specific and gorgeous art style like Rayman Origins / Legends, Valiant Hearts, Child of Light, or PoP 2008. But right now their games art style feels quite bland except PoP The Lost Crown.
I wonder if using generative A.I could help Ubisoft regain that lost creativity or it would be worst...
If they can make a PS3 emu for PS5 or PS6 that would be awesome.
I still have my PS3 slim hook up to my Tv and playing it quite regularly. It's still working just fine but i'm worried with the machine age since it's more than 10 years old.
@MrGawain "Playstation needs variety this generation has been lacking, and itβs deeply evident in the Japanese market"
Variety isn't the problem considering the majority of Japanese gamers doesn't care nor buy Astro Bot, GT 7, Returnal, Sackboy, Stellar Blade, Lego Horizon, Demon's Souls remake, or Lost Soul Aside and all of them aren't open world-narrative games.
Astro Bot for example only sold 47K copies in 4 months despite the game is family friendly, received very positive review from Japanese media, and won GotY.
Heck, plenty of Sony PS3, PS4, PSP, and Vita games like Puppeteer, Tearaway, Soul Sacrifice, Jeanne D'Arc, The Last Guardian, Shadow of the Colossus, Forbidden Siren, etc doesn't sold well in Japan either.
Today Japanese market isn't the same as PS1 and PS2 era. Many Japanese prefer playing games on their mobile or handheld over home console.
@Dogbreath No matter how you spin it, the behaviour is obnoxious and definitely not a good look for Expedition 33 and the fanbase.
Your A and B argument doesn't make a single sense. If there's only a small numbers of Horizon fans and they're not passionate enough with the franchise then Horizon wouldn't stay for almost a decade, let alone sold 40 million copies with the 3rd main title, 2 spin-off, and a live action movie are in the works π€·ββοΈ
But hey, you're free to believe whatever you want even if it's not true.
@Max_the_German "the Switch 2 release of RE9 on the same day as on PS5 are warning signs the Sony management couldnβt ignore any more"
Sony doesn't need to worry cause PS has a big RE fanbase in Japan.
For example; in the 1st week in Japan, RE4 Remake PS5 version sold 89K copies and PS4 version sold 85K copies with a total 175K copies combine. I'm sure Requiem will sell well on PS5.
Beside, Requiem for Switch 2 is on game keycard and so far i heard a lot of Japanese gamers doesn't like game keycard.
@Dogbreath "Look at Expedition 33. Compare the instant passion that generated, versus Horizon"
Yeah about that. So far i've seen a lot of Expedition 33 fans shows their elitism. They thinks the game is the best thing ever since sliced bread while mocking other games especially FF series. Not sure why those fans acting like that. If the game is really good then they don't need to create drama with other fans or tell other fans that their favorite series is sucks compare to Expedition 33.
Now compare to Horizon fans, i rarely see them acting as obnoxious as Expedition 33 fans. Feels like Horizon fans keep their passion for the series at normal level and just mind their own business. Hopefully Horizon Steel Frontier don't bring new fans who acts like an obnoxious toddler.
So i guess F.I.S.T sold well that the devs earned enough to make this game. But this looks pretty good although really different than 2.5D metroidvania.
Oh well, another one for my wishlist, well make it two since i never played F.I.S.T.
@SeaDaVie Yeah it's dissapointing but as expected since DS 2 is a pretty niche-out of norm game. Some analyst predicted it sold 1.4 mill copies in June. So, it could have long legs and maybe reach 2-3 mill copies in a year.
I love R-Type on PS1. I already wishlist this game and will buy it along with Earthion when the time is right (so many games, so little time & money >.<).
But despite a mini review, i notice the reviewer seems to have decent knowledge about shmup genre, which is better than the one who reviewed Neon Inferno π€
I'm still not sure what makes this game looks different with Little Nightmare series. The art style and gameplay looks very much the same. If they put "Little Nightmares 4" on the front cover, i bet people will believes it.
@Reyzore Ah yes parrying. These days every devs add parrying to their games. Doom has parry, RE has parry, even RPG like Expedition 33 also has parry mechanic haha π
Parry was started and popularized by fighting games and the mechanic has big risk and big reward. But outside fighting games, i think the mechanic became a lot easier to do but still have big reward. I'm not sure if Guerilla should add parry when Horizon already had rolling / dodging mechanic with full invisibility frame. Two defensive mechanic that can nulify enemies attacks feels like overpowered, unless they toned down or removed rolling / dodging.
But you mention about using shield and that sounds more interesting than parry. Shield is easier to balance like if you block specific attack it could damage the shield or give you less damage than direct attack.
But hey thanks for sharing your idea / opinion. It's nice to see someone explained in more detail what they exactly want developers to do to improves their games π€
@Reyzore "If Guerrilla manages to fix certain aspects of the franchise improve melee combat"
Genuine questions. I would love to hear your idea what kind of "improvement" do you think that Guerilla should do with Horizon melee combat but without breaking the balance or make it feel too easy for players to beat the enemies?
I mean, in Forbidden West, players already has more weapon type from close, mid, to long range to take down human and robot enemies. On top of that there's stealth takedown / Silent Strike, special moves attack / Weapon Techniques and Valor Surges, and dodging or rolling that has i-frame. Are these mechanics also needs improvement or should be removed?
And with these "improvement" for melee combat, how far do you think Guerilla must improved the enemies A.I? I mean, if players got more combat options then the enemies should be more challenging too right?
@themightyant "I HOPE Horizon 3 is the end of a Trilogy and then the talented folks at Guerilla move onto a new IP"
I hope not. When comes to sci-fi settings, there's plenty of possibility and story to tell. For Horizon case, they can do new protags and new location which i can see the setting got pushed far more into the future or even to other planets and that would open up a completely new story.
@Brundleflies21 Imho Nex Machina arguably one of the best Housemarque games, which sadly we probably wouldn't get a sequel or the same type of games from them again π
40 million copies ww and plenty of revenues from merchs and side gigs. Guerilla really found their golden goose which is good for them ππ
If Guerilla stick with Killzone after Shadow Fall didn't sold that well (iirc only sold 2 million copies), Sony probably already closed their door years ago.
I just watched a Hard diff playthrough video and i don't see much of the "overwhelming, frustrating, tedious, too much going on" problems.
I think this game looks quite beginners friendly compare to other 2D shmup / bullet hell / shooting gallery like Wild Guns Reloaded, Alien Soldier, Gunstar Heroes, or Metal Slug which was really challenging. In this game you can parry specific bullets and sent it back to the enemies, you can upgrade between mission, and some bosses didn't move much or just stationary for the most part.
@Porco I think this reviewer never played Wild Guns nor he has enough experiences with shmup / bullet hell genre. But that's just my rough guess based on how he review this game. So i could be wrong...
@Exerion76 Yeah a lot of reviewers these days always put challenging difficulty as negative if the game didn't handhold their hands or make their playthrough a lot easier.
@Krlozgod You said the Tv show is a "pos" but the show popularity would convince Sony to make a new TM game.
The thing is finding the right devs to make a fun car combat game is not easy. If they hired the wrong devs then it will be another flop and wasted potential. Just check what happened with Destruction AllStars by Lucid Games. A car combat / racing game that ended as a big flop. And add to the fact that the last TM game on PS3 was a flop too.
I bet Blops 7 still sold a ton lol. Every year people complaining about CoD but every iteration still sold millions of copies. Activision knew they can sell slop every year and millions of CoD fans will gladly eat it and say "it's delicious!" π
But it's nice to see Ghost of Yotei still in the top 10. I think it will have long legs and next year when Legends mode come, more people will buy/play Yotei.
No one can master shmup or bullet hell with just 1st time play. So obviously everything in the screen will feels overwhelming when you don't know where the enemies or the bullets coming through and still get used to the mechanics / control.
I remember the 1st time i played Contra and it felt overwhelming. But after 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and so on playthrough everything felt a lot easier and smoother. The same can be said for Metal Slug, Gunstar Heroes, Blazing Chrome, Huntdown, and my recent playthrough with Wild Guns Reloaded.
Shmup / bullet hell games are designed for players to keeps replaying the game until they mastered it.
@tomic20 If you mean by "Nintendo type games" is platformer or family friendly games, i think one or two Sony big studios are still gonna make that kind of game. Like Insomniac with Ratchet series or Media Molecule with LBP / Sackboy / whatever new IP they're currently cooking.
@AdamNovice @get2sammyb With GTA 6 delayed and possibly missed out TGA next year, i think Wolverine, Marvel Tokon, and Saros would grab a lot of nominations.
@windxtravelerx True and at least Dave the Diver devs fully admitted that their game is not indie. But i didn't see Expedition 33 devs do the same. I wonder why...
@Neonix "Japanese people in general don't like to play super-serious-bloody-dark-grim-gory games, which has become Sony's specialty it seems"
Fun fact for you; Japan created 'super-serious-bloody-dark-grim-gory' manga, movies, anime, and games for decades and a lot of them are beloved not just by the Japanese but also by people around the world.
Look at Resident Evil, FF XVI, Silent Hill, Onimusha, Berserk, Bloodborne, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, MPD Psycho, Tokyo Ghoul, Ninja Scroll, Parasyte, Fist of the North Star, Madworld, or Ninja Gaiden for example.
Ghost of Tsushima managed to sold 1 million copies in Japan alone. But Astro Bot only sold 47K copies in 4 months in Japan. None of Sony family friendly games like Astro Bot, Gravity Rush, Ratchet & Clank, Gran Turismo, Patapon, Puppeteer, or Sackboy can sold as much as Tsushima in Japan.
Also. This idea of Sony only made super-serious-bloody-gore games is just false. Spiderman and Horizon for example, while they have some serious moment but there's no bloody or gore scene in the game. Or Ghost of Yotei has some serious and bloody moments but it balance out with the bright and beautiful scenery of Ezo / Hokkaido.
@get2sammyb I'm not sure if Sony can improve their position in Japan without beating Nintendo. Maybe next gen with the rumor PS6 handheld but not this gen.
@ItsAlwaysSunnyyy What's more insulting that Japanese gamers doesn't care that much with games developed by Sony Japan devs.
Astro Bot for example. lt was last year GotY and also by Team Asobi which is a Japanese devs, but the game only sold 47K copies in Japan.
Or Gravity Rush 2. It was only sold 102K copies in Japan.
The mighty Bloodborne only sold 152K copies in the 1st week in Japan.
And even GT 7 needs a year to sold 300K copies in Japan
Ironicly, Ghost of Tsushima which was developed by Sony western devs, managed to sold 1 million copies in Japan and it sold much better than Astro Bot, Gravity Rush 2, Bloodborne, and GT 7 combine.
If more Japanese gamers buy games from Sony Japan devs at least where Sony can expect they get 1-2 million copies from Japan alone, i think we wouldn't see Japan Studio closure...
Again, i applause Nishino decision to fight back Nintendo domination in Japan. But Japan is a lost cause for Sony since Japan home console market already shrinking a lot over the last two decades.
Japan today is not the same as PS1 and PS2 era anymore. Heck, PS4 with cheaper price and bigger library than PS5, its lifetime sales in Japan only sold around 9.68 million units, similar to PS3 at 9.32 million units. Compare to PS1 sold around 20 million units and PS2 sold around 23 million units.
Even solid good games from Sony Japan devs like Astro Bot, Gravity Rush 2, The Last Guardian, Bloodborne, Patapon, Shadow of the Colossus, etc didn't sold that well in Japan. It's crazy how GotY like Astro Bot only sold 47K copies in Japan.
Nishino should just focus expanding PS brand on much bigger market like China, Korea, and Southeast Asia than Japan. Feels the price cut would do better on those countries than Japan.

Re: Horizon Sales Update Cements It As One of Sony's Strongest Franchises
@themightyant "I HOPE Horizon 3 is the end of a Trilogy and then the talented folks at Guerilla move onto a new IP"
I hope not. When comes to sci-fi settings, there's plenty of possibility and story to tell. For Horizon case, they can do new protags and new location which i can see the setting got pushed far more into the future or even to other planets and that would open up a completely new story.
Re: Mini Review: Neon Inferno (PS5) - Beautiful Layers, Chaotic Bullets
@Brundleflies21 Imho Nex Machina arguably one of the best Housemarque games, which sadly we probably wouldn't get a sequel or the same type of games from them again π
As for Sektori, you mean this one?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zcTAuqglcBo
It kinda reminds me of Resogun especially the crazy explosions. I'm interested to play it so thank you for mention the game! π€
Re: Horizon Sales Update Cements It As One of Sony's Strongest Franchises
40 million copies ww and plenty of revenues from merchs and side gigs. Guerilla really found their golden goose which is good for them ππ
If Guerilla stick with Killzone after Shadow Fall didn't sold that well (iirc only sold 2 million copies), Sony probably already closed their door years ago.
Re: Tales of Berseria Remastered Set for PS5, $40 Game Out on 27th February
Anyone in here a Tales of Destiny fans? Feels like i rarely see anyone in here ever mention it...
Re: Tales of Berseria Remastered Set for PS5, $40 Game Out on 27th February
Berseria? Next they gonna remaster Zestiria and Arise π
Re: Mini Review: Neon Inferno (PS5) - Beautiful Layers, Chaotic Bullets
@Brundleflies21 I love Nex Machina and yeah the way pro / experience players plays the game is just godlike πββοΈ. Like this one for example
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dzKdqcEL7PY&pp=ygUeTmV4IG1hY2hpbmEgaGlnaGVzdCBkaWZmaWN1bHR5
Talking about Nex Machina makes me wants to boot up the game again π
Re: Mini Review: Neon Inferno (PS5) - Beautiful Layers, Chaotic Bullets

Megabonk devs has withdrawn from TGA. It wasn't their debut game.

Re: Twisted Metal Renewed for Season 3 and Gets New Showrunner
@Krlozgod You said the Tv show is a "pos" but the show popularity would convince Sony to make a new TM game.
The thing is finding the right devs to make a fun car combat game is not easy. If they hired the wrong devs then it will be another flop and wasted potential. Just check what happened with Destruction AllStars by Lucid Games. A car combat / racing game that ended as a big flop. And add to the fact that the last TM game on PS3 was a flop too.
Re: The Legend of Lara Croft Continues in Season 2 of Netflix's Tomb Raider Series
I'm not yet watch S1 but why the animation looks weird. Did they got less budget or different studio?
Re: Twisted Metal Renewed for Season 3 and Gets New Showrunner
S1 was okay in the beginning but ended pretty fun in the final two eps. S2 was a blast from start to end.
I hope S3 as good if not better than S2 since they gonna fight the TO.
Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 UK Sales Plummet 61% Compared to Black Ops 6
I bet Blops 7 still sold a ton lol. Every year people complaining about CoD but every iteration still sold millions of copies. Activision knew they can sell slop every year and millions of CoD fans will gladly eat it and say "it's delicious!" π
But it's nice to see Ghost of Yotei still in the top 10. I think it will have long legs and next year when Legends mode come, more people will buy/play Yotei.
Re: Don't Expect a Resident Evil Requiem Demo, Capcom Has 'No Plans'
It's RE, there's no need for a demo when we already know exactly how it plays.
Re: Mini Review: Neon Inferno (PS5) - Beautiful Layers, Chaotic Bullets
"Which quickly becomes overwhelming and tedious"
@Brundleflies21 I fully agreed with you π€
Re: PlayStation CEO Pushed Through Cut-Price PS5 in Japan After Seeing System Slump Against Switch 2
Re: PS5 Sony Games Bag 19 Nominations at The Game Awards 2025
@AdamNovice @get2sammyb With GTA 6 delayed and possibly missed out TGA next year, i think Wolverine, Marvel Tokon, and Saros would grab a lot of nominations.
Re: Talking Point: The Game Awards 2025 Nominations Announced - Who Are Your Winners?
@windxtravelerx True and at least Dave the Diver devs fully admitted that their game is not indie. But i didn't see Expedition 33 devs do the same. I wonder why...
@Reyzore Fully agreed with you π€
Re: PlayStation CEO Pushed Through Cut-Price PS5 in Japan After Seeing System Slump Against Switch 2
Re: PlayStation CEO Pushed Through Cut-Price PS5 in Japan After Seeing System Slump Against Switch 2
@get2sammyb I'm not sure if Sony can improve their position in Japan without beating Nintendo. Maybe next gen with the rumor PS6 handheld but not this gen.
Re: PlayStation CEO Pushed Through Cut-Price PS5 in Japan After Seeing System Slump Against Switch 2
Re: PlayStation CEO Pushed Through Cut-Price PS5 in Japan After Seeing System Slump Against Switch 2
Re: The Lost Soul Aside Redemption Arc Starts in Tomorrow's Feature-Packed PS5 Update
Cool to see this game gets better, which i hope Sony keeps advertise the game.
