@SuperYlvis Many 3rd party games also released for Switch, Xbox, or PC. So no, people has multiple choices if they want to enjoyed 3rd party games. They don't have to buy a PS5.
And Metroid IS a big seller in the US and also EU to the point Nintendo themself even said the series is cater to western audiences because it always performed a lot better in the US and EU compare to Japan. Metroid Dread for example, In the 1st month it sold almost 1 million copy in the US alone.
Also. Discounts that put PS5 price back to launch price doesn't seem like a major selling point of why PS5 won against Switch 2 in the US for november. With $100 discount, PS5 disc ver and Pro are still more expensives than Switch 2 with $50 discount while the digital version is the same price as Switch 2.
@SuperYlvis If you read the article, PS5 didn't receive "heavy discount" in the US. They only gave that to EU and Japan.
"Sony did do some deals throughout the Black Friday period, but after so many price increases over the years, its discounts temporarily returned the PS5 to its launch price โ five years after launch."
Also, Nintendo just released their hit titles with Pokemon ZA, DK Bonanza, Kirby, and MP 4 while Sony only released Yotei. Switch 2 clearly has more advantage to beat PS5 in November.
@Toot1st Report from Circana or used to be known as NPD Group is a market research & tech company based in the US. So, they only track and report video games sales in US.
As for other countries, there's ERA who track sales numbers in UK, Famitsu for Japan, and VGE + EGDF for the whole EU. I'm pretty sure PushSquare also posted report for UK / EU and Japan.
Wait. I was told by Nintendo fanboys that for US + November, with Kirby & MP 4, Switch 2 gonna dominate and slaughtered PS5. So why the result is the opposite? ๐
Anyway. Hardware spending 27% drop compare to last year i guess that means Americans are saving their money and be careful with what they spend in the holiday.
And i guess they're also preparing for next year economy could be worst than this year, especially after Orange Man blockade towards Venezuela could potentially result with a war which could affect everyone around the world.
This reminds me when somehow Sifu got nominated as best fighting game back in TGA 2022. It's like Geoff and his friends try to change the definition of fighting game and now they try to change the definition of indie game :/
Thankfully their attempt for fighting game has failed cause a lot of people including me would be furious if they nominated E33 as best fighting game, which i bet E33 would win too lol, just because it has parry mechanic ๐
Nice to see that Yotei and Spiderman 2 are still selling well. Yotei probably already pass 4 million or reach 5 million. And Spidey 2 probably in the 13-15 million right now.
And with this holiday, i hope Astro Bot will get some nice sales too although Sony probably are satisfied with the current numbers.
@somnambulance I think Capcom didn't aware of how important Legends to the fanbase. After Legends 3 got cancelled, it's like they always dodge the series and acting like it never exist.
Also, i feel like they didn't aware that they had created a near perfect 3D Mega Man formula with Legends and they just abandoned it :/
I heard Legends 1 sold more than 500K but Legends 2 fall off like 200K or something. It was modest numbers but Mega Man never been a big seller considering MM 11 is still the best selling game in the series with 2 mill copies.
@3DixieKong Good for you if you like the design. But i didn't like it and every time i think about Mega Man, the Star Force design never came up to my mind. It just never stick for me. I don't know if the one in Star Force an android or not but if he's not then more reason why i didn't like his design.
E33 is definitely not an indie game when it has 300-400 people working on it and got financial + marketing support from French govs and other big sponsors.
One if not the biggest reason i didn't played this series is i never like the Mega Man design. It doesn't look like an android and also doesn't have that interesting / memorable flare compare to the original, X, or Legends design.
And yeah, i'm with @somnambulance. I would gladly trade this and Battle Network collection with Legends + Tron Bonne collection. But i guess we have to wait until 2027 / 2028 to see if Capcom gonna do Legends collection...
I feel sorry for people who refused to played or even finish a game because it doesn't have trophies. They've been missing out a lot of classic games and moments.
And as a guy who's been gaming since the 80's and finished many games on NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, PS1, PS2, and early PS3 which doesn't have trophies btw, i feel fortunate that i built a habit to always try to finish my games.
For me, finishing a game is like a ritual to respect myself for finishing my plate and also respect to the devs for their creativity and amazing games. There's a sense of complete satisfaction every time i finished a game.
But hey, i get it that everyone has their own motivation when comes to video games. Not saying trophies isn't a legit main reason to played games either.
@themightyant For Tekken 8; the first official announcement was back in August at EVO 2022 and the 1st trailer at September SoP 2022. You know how long until the 1st closed beta? 11 months or almost a year. The 1st closed beta was in July 2023 and the release date was January last year or almost 1.5 year gap from the 1st announcement.
I still think Tokon was announced with a pretty good timing. The game had a playable demo at EVO or less than 2 months after the 1st announcement back at June SoP. Then followed with playable demo at TGS and two closed beta in September and this month with some changed with the mechanics based on players feedback, playable Spiderman + Ghost Rider, and 2 new stages. Sony / ArcSys keeps people interested and engage with the game directly in the last 6 months instead of laying low or no communication.
Sure there's lack of new character announcement which my guess is they want to announce multiple characters at once instead of drip feeding one by one. But that doesn't mean the game was announced too early.
Also, with Invincibles VS and 2xKO on the horizon, my best guess Sony will begin Tokon marketing with next year SoP maybe in February or March.
@cragis0001 Sony always put good marketing for 3rd party games despite they're not exclusives. But there's no "PS5 exclusives" logo for Black Myth ads in China nor there's any proof for Sony and Game Science exclusivity deal.
The question you should ask is why MS didn't put good marketing for Black Myth in China??? MS has all the money in the world to do that but they didn't. When comes to marketing, MS always looks farrrrr behind compare to Sony.
Also, no, Sony didn't have exclusivity deal with Capcom for MH Worlds in Japan. The game was multiplats for PS5, Xbox, and PC from day 1 in Japan. No MH Wilds ads in Japan has "PS5 exclusives" logo either which is why Sony didn't sing & dance about it.
But no one in Japan gives a damn about Xbox and MS doesn't care to change that situation ๐คทโโ๏ธ
@Burnish1619 Those are legit good games. Just because they didn't get 9's and 10's doesn't mean they aren't good games. And there's plenty of case where good games doesn't sold well.
I hope it sells well, better than Exoprimal and Kunitsu Gami and give Capcom more reasons to pumping out more new IP's.
But i got the feeling Pragmata will end up just like Kunitsu Gami, Haunting Ground, God Hand, or Chaos Legion which are solid games but they didn't sold well because most people never gave those games a fair chance.
@themightyant You forgot the rumor / leak from last year about ArcSys developed a new tag fighter. Thanks to that rumor / leak, people keeps asking and pressuring ArcSys when they gonna announce it. So YES, there was some pressure towards ArcSys.
And they announced it this year so they can take feedbacks from players which is a NORMAL PROCEDURE to do for fighting games. For example, Capcom announced SF 6 for the 1st time back in February 2022. The 1st closed beta was took place in October 2022, 2nd closed beta was in December 2022, and open beta was in May 2023 while the released date, 2nd June 2023, was announced at TGA. There was 1.5 year gap between 1st announcement to release date.
Again. I think Sony / ArcSys did quite right with the announcement and people are just impatience as *****.
@Simu001 Yes they can catter to both casual and hardcore audiences. SF 6 is one of the recent example for a very solid fighting game that can cater both casual and hardcore players.
@themightyant No. I think Sony & ArcSys made the right decision to announced it this year. The biggest problem is just nowadays gamers including the ones in the FGC are impatience AF. If they see publisher didn't announced a new game, they would call the publisher "lazy" or doesn't care with the gaming community. It's just damn if you do, damn if you don't.
1. Wolverine 2. Onimusha 3. Phantom Blade Zero 4. RE Requiem 5. Control Resonant 6. Pragmata 7. Saros 8. Marvel Tokon 9. Warhammer: Boltgun 2 10. Ace Combat 8 11. Romeo Is a Dead Man
That swimsuit Lara makes me wants to replay Underworld again. And yeah i think her design looks fine in Atlantis and Catalyst.
But when comes to Tomb Raider, i personally care more about the exploration, puzzles, and set pieces. I think it's safe to say Atlantis will be pretty solid because it based on TR 1.
But for Catalyst, it's a completely brand new game so i'm curious how it's gonna end up compare to previous games.
@Rich33 Yeah i don't believe Sony has anything to do with Black Myth console exclusivity. If they had a deal, Sony would definitely say it and push their marketing with "PS5 console exclusives" logo.
@Rich33 I've read some interview that the devs said Phantom Blade Zero garnered big attention after it got featured at PS Showcase May 2023. The trailer got 5.5 million views.
Maybe that leads to Sony sees the game potential and they came to the devs for an exclusive deal. Or maybe S-game came to Sony and struck a deal for marketing and some tech support considering iirc this is their 1st game for PS5.
@elvisfan1 "Give me a gritty, Resident Evil horror that takes it back to its roots with a new canon"
This game looks the same if not more gritty and horror than the original RE. Also it seems it'll have a new canon too.
"It's entering into Terminator territory in terms of linking new games to an old story and it making less sense with each iteration."
RE story never makes sense in the 1st place. Like example William got shoot multiple times in the chest which in reality it should be instant dead. But somehow he live long enough to injected himself with a virus that somehow the virus heal his wound and mutated him into a very powerful creature lol.
Don't make me started with Code Veronica where somehow Wesker still alive and has superpower after he got fatally mauled by a Tyrant in the 1st game.
I get what you want though but i don't see the big benefits with a full reboot, especially at this point when the series already fully established the lore and characters. A full reboot means they gonna scrap years of established lore and characters and goes back to zero again, which is a big gambling that could destroyed the series...
@Ichiban The same reason you and other people are excited for Battlefield 6, GTA 6, new COD, new Mario, new Pokemon, new Yakuza etc etc that looks "been there done that" so many times before; because they looks fun to play.
But why you got angry that people excited for this game? Did their excitement hurt your feelings or something? ๐
@Frmknst New design is pandering to the "anti-woke" culture? If you're talking about what Lara wears in Legacy of Atlantis (the turqoise tank top, brown short, calf-high boots) then that's the original design which Lara Croft is well known and beloved considering the game is a remake of TR 1.
But if you're talking about what she wears in Catalyst trailer, i didn't see any pandering to the anti-woke culture from that design. It's in line with what Lara wears from the prequel trilogy.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus / Vita I just bought a secondhand copy for $8-9 and so far i quite enjoyed it despite it's not 60 fps but a solid 30 fps. The graphic looks pretty good too. Sadly there's no Japan dub option. Currently i'm at Chapter 3.
The Legend of Dragoon / PS4 Right now i'm on Disc 3 / Chapter 3. The Divine Dragon cutscene when it breaks free and flying around Deningrad looks majestic. I can feel that dragon will be a pain in the ass. Gonna stock a good amount of healing items.
MS and Acti doesn't give a ratass about "learning from mistakes" when COD kids keeps buying the game and made them money in every single year ๐
What they care is keeps milking out the cow until there's nothing left to squeeze then find another cow to milk. I mean, MS has a trillion of cow to milk right? They owned Halo, Gears, Forza, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Doom, Diablo, Overwatch, Warcraft, Minecraft, Starcraft etc etc. They can easily replace one dead cow with another.
I hope Grace gets good character development cause if not then why bother introduced her as a new protag when Leon is giving everyone a roundhouse and headshot. The usual zombies and that giant stalker doesn't even look like a big threat compare to what he fought in RE 2, 4, and 6.
But eh, we'll see i guess...
@Icey664 There's a glimpse of Grace gameplay where she's shooting a zombie using a handgun that looks similar to what Leon used in the trailer. So i doubt her gameplay is just hide and seek.
I just check her records and turns out she's the voices of Sortiara & Illecebra from Soul Sacrifice, which i think was well done. Outside Soul Sacrifice, i don't have any clue with her other works.
Next year GotY candidates will be a lot more interesting than this year. RE 9, Onimusha, Wolverine, Control Resonant, Phantom Blade Zero, Crimson Desert, Pragmata, Saros ect. Lot's of banger.
But sadly, GTA 6 gonna win...if it doesn't get delayed.
Next year, Sega Genesis, a 30+ years old console, will get a new game with Earthion. And i believe a couple of years ago it also got Xeno Crisis on cartridge.
So, it's normal that PS4, one of the best selling home console in history (sold at 117+ million units) still get new games from 3rd party.
@TheOldHunter4K The Terminator licensing alone isn't cheap. The devs said they can't even afford to pay the right for Arnold likeness because it's too expensives. Hence why the game doesn't have a single portrait of Arnold.
And games like this wasn't ยฃ20 back in SNES / Sega Genesis era. Back then, 2D side scrolling like Contra 3, Contra Hard Corps, Robocop vs Terminator, or Mega Man X was cost around $50-70. Nowadays, those retro games even more expensives that could cost $100 or more for CIB.
So ยฃ20 for a license game that looks beautiful, fun, and polished like this is too cheap. There's no guarantee it would sell well either considering nowadays the 2D run & gun genre is pretty niche. They would be lucky if this game can sell around 100-200K copies and if they sell at $20 /copy that would be $2 to $4 million revenue which i don't think that's enough to break even.
@rjejr Next year, Sega Genesis will get a new game with Earthion and that console is far older than PS4. So this "PS4 is 14 years old that means they should just stop making games for it" is not a good reason of why Capcom should cancelled the PS4 version.
I mean, PS4 sold more than 117 million units and i don't see any problem if Capcom wants to release their games for people who's still playing and buying games on PS4
Beside, cancelling PS4 version will not magically make the release date move on from 2027 to 2026 or make PS5 version looks prettier.
Between this, 2xKO, Avatar, and Tokon, what i'm most interested to play is just Tokon. It's cool that every year fighting games still received new titles though.
But funny thing is SF 6 possibly will dominate my gaming time again. And with Darkstalkers / Vampire Saviour got included for next year EVO, i think i will boot up Capcom Fighting Collection 1 and see if there's someone playing the game.

The devs surely understand why they must crunch a bit considering they already missed out several deadlines.
The thing is i doubt ND crunch is as notorious and rampant as Japanese devs where devs stay in the office for months, sleep under their desk, etc etc.

Re: PS5 Wins a Nightmarish November for All Console Hardware in the US
@anoyonmus Kirby is niche but definitely not with DK and Metroid especially in the US.
Also, doesn't matter if Pokemon ZA and Metroid has Switch 1 version. They're still big titles for Switch 2.
Feel free to find more excuses why Switch 2 lost in november despite has more advantage than PS5.

Re: 'Grace Is the Biggest Scaredy-Cat in Resident Evil History': Capcom Details How Leon's Gameplay Will Differ in Requiem
@elvisfan1 can you explain why this series needs a "full reboot"?
Re: PS5 Will Be the Only Console You Can Play Phantom Blade Zero for at Least 12 Months
Re: This Is the New Voice of Lara Croft in the PS5 Era of Tomb Raider Games
@Frmknst New design is pandering to the "anti-woke" culture? If you're talking about what Lara wears in Legacy of Atlantis (the turqoise tank top, brown short, calf-high boots) then that's the original design which Lara Croft is well known and beloved considering the game is a remake of TR 1.
But if you're talking about what she wears in Catalyst trailer, i didn't see any pandering to the anti-woke culture from that design. It's in line with what Lara wears from the prequel trilogy.

@TimeDelayedGamer Puppeteer, Owlboy, and Journey was and still awesome. Enjoy your weekend good sir ๐ป
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 611
Playing:
I just bought a secondhand copy for $8-9 and so far i quite enjoyed it despite it's not 60 fps but a solid 30 fps. The graphic looks pretty good too. Sadly there's no Japan dub option. Currently i'm at Chapter 3.
Right now i'm on Disc 3 / Chapter 3. The Divine Dragon cutscene when it breaks free and flying around Deningrad looks majestic. I can feel that dragon will be a pain in the ass. Gonna stock a good amount of healing items.
Have a great weekend everyone ๐ป
Re: 'These Claims Are Not Accurate': Activision Denies Complete Call of Duty Rethink After Sluggish Black Ops 7 Sales
Re: 'Grace Is the Biggest Scaredy-Cat in Resident Evil History': Capcom Details How Leon's Gameplay Will Differ in Requiem
Re: This Is the New Voice of Lara Croft in the PS5 Era of Tomb Raider Games
I just check her records and turns out she's the voices of Sortiara & Illecebra from Soul Sacrifice, which i think was well done. Outside Soul Sacrifice, i don't have any clue with her other works.
Re: Poll: Vote for Your PS5 Game of the Year 2025
Next year GotY candidates will be a lot more interesting than this year. RE 9, Onimusha, Wolverine, Control Resonant, Phantom Blade Zero, Crimson Desert, Pragmata, Saros ect. Lot's of banger.
But sadly, GTA 6 gonna win...if it doesn't get delayed.
Re: PS4 Will Still Get New Games in 2027
Next year, Sega Genesis, a 30+ years old console, will get a new game with Earthion. And i believe a couple of years ago it also got Xeno Crisis on cartridge.
So, it's normal that PS4, one of the best selling home console in history (sold at 117+ million units) still get new games from 3rd party.
Re: Terminator 2D: No Fate (PS5) - A Brief Blast of 16-Bit Nostalgia

Re: Mega Man: Dual Override Brings Back the Blue Bomber in 2027 on PS5, PS4
@rjejr Next year, Sega Genesis will get a new game with Earthion and that console is far older than PS4. So this "PS4 is 14 years old that means they should just stop making games for it" is not a good reason of why Capcom should cancelled the PS4 version.
I mean, PS4 sold more than 117 million units and i don't see any problem if Capcom wants to release their games for people who's still playing and buying games on PS4
Beside, cancelling PS4 version will not magically make the release date move on from 2027 to 2026 or make PS5 version looks prettier.
Re: 2026 Looks Like a Big Year for PS5 Fighters, with Invincible VS Heating Up on 30th April
