Re: Sony's New 'It Happens on PS5' Ad Has Gone Down Exactly as You'd Expect

PuppetMaster

@Random_play05 Now you mention Switch revision, that makes me remember Nintendo loves doing multiple updates for their hardware. I guess i'll wait for Switch 2 revision with OLED screen, better battery, or any upgrade.

And yeah i'm also prefer PS outputs over Nintendo. But with Sony situation i'm thinking of alternatives where i can still buy physical games. There's retro console and Switch 2 also looks like a good alternative.

Re: Sony's New 'It Happens on PS5' Ad Has Gone Down Exactly as You'd Expect

PuppetMaster

@Rich33

That 93% sounds very high compared to how often we see games without the full code on the disc, or games released with game breaking bugs/performance that need patching. Most games released these days appear to need the day 1 patch to make them playable to the end.

https://gamerant.com/ps5-discs-work-offline/

What you seen isn't "most games" but the 7% from MS, Bugthesda, or Ubi.

There are reasons why Sony would grant better digital rights though.

Primarily, the whole issue of digital rights is going to be talked about more and more as the world moves further towards a digital only future. Governments are going to consider acting, if they aren't already.

Good luck if you believe governments, including the corrupt ones, from around the world would give a damn about this situation and even pushed Sony and all these billion dollar companies to give better digital ownership.

Even European Union said they can't save discontinued games despite there's 1 million signature for Stop Killing Games that pushed publishers to gives better treatment for games.
https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20260616-eu-admits-it-can-t-save-discontinued-video-games

So i doubt this situation will change in the next 5, 10, 20, 30 years or if ever change like at all. Heck i feel the situation will become worst. These companies will do whatever they want and they will never get penalty or punished from making games unplayable and delisted digital games from store / users libraries without refund.

Re: Sony's New 'It Happens on PS5' Ad Has Gone Down Exactly as You'd Expect

PuppetMaster

@Random_play05 Exactly. These people are very naive if they think Sony gonna do pro-consumers move like better digital rights when they just deleted 500+ digital movies from PS users libraries and soon will shutdown Vita and PS3 store.

Heck, hundreds of countries still not have PSN and PS Store. Like my fellow SEA gamers in Phillipines and Vietnam for example. It's crazy how for years Sony still not launch PSN / PS Store for both countries 🤦‍♂️

I'm not surprise if Sony will implement always-online check for PS5 and PS6. They're so sensitive when comes to piracy.

Re: Sony's New 'It Happens on PS5' Ad Has Gone Down Exactly as You'd Expect

PuppetMaster

@Rich33

Discs will fade - the best that can be achieved now is a 'stay of execution'. Also, remember that discs are licences too. How many games are actually playable from the disc without ANY patching whatsoever

93% of PS5 disc can be played without patch or connecting to internet. So letting disc dies or "stay of execution" is the worst route for gamers.

I think most would agree that the best time to talk digital rights is between now and 2028 - though I also suspect Sony already has plans in this regard too

You guys should talk and demands about better digital rights like 10 years ago while keeps supporting physical disc. Now it's too late. There's no reason for Sony or any of these billion dollar corpos to grant better digital rights. You either bend the knee or gtfo from their ecosystem.

Re: Sony's New 'It Happens on PS5' Ad Has Gone Down Exactly as You'd Expect

PuppetMaster

@Random_play05 They think everyone around the world are capable to keeps spending $80-100 for a digital game.

And yeah, i really doubt Sony will grant better digital ownership. Why gives what the customers wants when Sony already have total control and monopoly while most digital only owners are happy with anti-consumers decisions and throwing $80-100 to pre-order a digital game they can't refund, trade, or resell.

Re: Sony's New 'It Happens on PS5' Ad Has Gone Down Exactly as You'd Expect

PuppetMaster

@DennisReynolds

Where i have passionately campaigned for better digital rights? Just because i want something doesn't mean i lose sleep if i don't get it

Well you're here keeps yapping about better digital ownership and how physical fans should fight for it. Heck, you said you feel tired and fed up because physical fans didn't campaign about it. Clearly you're passionate enough about better digital ownership.

Name a single game that's paid and doesn't require an online connection that Sony has removed from peoples libraries.

Chaos Rings 1 gone from my Vita library. I can't redownload nor played the game anymore so thanks Sony!

But i guess you want us have the same experience as people who lost their movie purchased when Sony deleted hundreds of StudioCanal movies from their libraries. Ah, but you probably gonna ignorantly mock people when that happened and say it's just trivial stuff lol.

Dude its a hobby it is trivial. I care more about what i'm doing now with gaming then some what if future 5 years away. I live in the moment not what if futures.

Ok then you should stay away from this discussion if you think it's very trivial matter for you.

But for others, a hobby that involved a lot of money and time is never trivial especially when they're passionately doing this hobby for decades.

Re: Sony's New 'It Happens on PS5' Ad Has Gone Down Exactly as You'd Expect

PuppetMaster

@DennisReynolds

It is trivial its just a hobby. I'm not even mocking i'm just being brutally honest and realistic.

If it's so trivial for you then why would you so passionately wants for better digital ownership? Shouldn't you just act like it's trivial if your $100 digital GTA 6 or your whole digital games library got deleted by Sony because the license are expired? I mean, it's just a trivial hobby right? Lol.

But more reason for physical fans not to join digital only fans fight since you guys only see video games as something very trivial.

Good for you though if you want to stay "realistic". Ha.

Re: Sony's New 'It Happens on PS5' Ad Has Gone Down Exactly as You'd Expect

PuppetMaster

@DennisReynolds

I'm tired over people crying and moaning over very trivial things.

It's not trivial things and i don't get how you feel tired or fed up when the protest are aiming directly at Sony, NOT at you or any all digital only fans.

As i said fight for better digital ownership that should be a focus not a losing battle against someone who has no intention of backing down. All you're doing now is making people turn against you as we're fed up with it.

Again. Why would physical fans gives a damn of what digital only fans wants or even join your fight when you guys doesn't gives a damn about what physical fans wants while keeps mocking them for whatever reasons?

So, good luck with your fight. It's not like Sony care about what digital only fans wants either since you guys already gave Sony the key for total control and monopoly by abandoning physical disc and keeps pre-ordering / buying digital games on day 1 without pressuring them to fix their store, refund process, and digital ownership 🤷‍♂️

Re: Sony's New 'It Happens on PS5' Ad Has Gone Down Exactly as You'd Expect

PuppetMaster

@DennisReynolds

But now i do support them out of spite for those who keep moaning, crying and complaining about this because they think their voice matters. The fight should be for better digital rights now not discs, all people are doing is taking away focus from the bigger fight with their whinging

You don't care about physical disc. Then you're mocking and throwing insults towards physical fans.

That's not how you want people from the other side to join your fight 🤷‍♂️

Re: Sony's Purge on PS5 Shovelware May Now Have Hit a Legit Indie Dev

PuppetMaster

All those billions revenue and Sony can't even hire competent Q&A employee / supervisor who can differentiate between legit indie games and shovelware before they removed it. SMH 🤦‍♂️

And they didn't even explain why his games will be removed? FFS Sony, fix your damn partner relation division! Stop them from keeps messing up and blasting your feets with a shotgun!

Under this "new" Sony, i'm not surprise if they removed legit indies like ExitMan Deluxe or Mom Hide My Games 🤦‍♂️

Re: When Is the Phantom Blade Zero State of Play?

PuppetMaster

@Inkdude0

well 5 samourai games or 5 games that are 3 person that are set in samourai theme like game in a month or two is just two much.

There's only Nioh 3 released back in February and next month will be Onimusha. So what 5 samurai games in a month or two you're talking about here???

Pretty much all the games I’ve mentioned before gonna have a hard time making $$$$ and barely no one is talking about them or hyped. just look at the preorders … most gamers are sick and tired of them

  • Ghost of Yotei sold well almost 5 million copies and made profits.
  • Phantom Blade Zero, not a samurai game, was no 1 on steam pre-order chart
    https://www.invenglobal.com/articles/24720/phantom-blade-zero-hits-no-1-on-steam-sales-chart-via-pre-orders
  • Onimusha at top 20 steam wishlish chart
    https://store.steampowered.com/search/?sort_by=_ASC&ignore_preferences=1&hwtype=0&filter=popularwishlist&supportedlang=english

Most gamers? You should said it's you who sick and tired of samurai games.

Re: When Is the Phantom Blade Zero State of Play?

PuppetMaster

@Inkdude0

I dont get the developers and why they don’t try to make something a bit different. The market is saturated of samurai games

1. Phantom Blade Zero is not a samurai game.
2. Why devs make samurai games? The same as why devs make sci-fi / cyberpunk and horror games: people demands it.
3. There's bunch of samurai games but saturated? Definitely not. Between Ghost of Yotei, Nioh 3, AC Shadows, and Onimusha all looks and plays different.
4. You don't like samurai games then why not go play other games? I'm pretty sure there's plenty of non-samurai games out there like RE Requiem, Pragmata, Marvel Tokon, Saros, 007 First Light, Fatal Frame II, Mouse PI etc.

Re: 'It's a Relentless Onslaught': Wolverine PS5 Dev Responds to Unprecedented Criticism

PuppetMaster

@Contimaloris Zelda BotW cost more than $120 million to recoup the game budget and that's not include marketing budget. But i really doubt Wolverine cost 300 million. It's not an open world game or even cast Hollywood A-lister.

And what's exactly your "demand" for an action superhero game with Wolverine? Do you want them to replace cinematic over the top set-pieces with 100 hours side quest where Wolverine must deliver pizza or hunt certain type of enemies to justify the budget?

Re: 'It's a Relentless Onslaught': Wolverine PS5 Dev Responds to Unprecedented Criticism

PuppetMaster

@Leinad7 I've played and finished Zelda OoT, Minish Cap, and A Link Between Worlds and they has the same basic combat formula: just press or mash 1 button to attack. For the note, i really enjoyed these Zelda games.

I've also played Super Metroid, Metroid 2, Metroid Zero Mission, and Metroid Fusion and all also has the same basic formula: press or mash 1 button to shoot and hold the same button for charge shot.

Or what about Contra? You only need to press 2 buttons for the whole game: 1 for shoot and the other for jump.

The question is does basic action like pressing 1 button to attack over and over is bad? Definitely not.

Simplicity brings fun and also emergent / deep gameplay can born from basic / simple rules. Just look at Tetris. You only need to press 1 button to change the block and move it around. But the game is still fun and relevant for decades with people experiences endless strategies.

So, if it ain't broken then don't fix it. Sony did it, Nintendo did it, Capcom did it, Square did it, and pretty much all developers did it.

Re: 'It's a Relentless Onslaught': Wolverine PS5 Dev Responds to Unprecedented Criticism

PuppetMaster

@Rich33 Yep you nailed it 🤝

If only back then people voted with their wallets for Gravity Rush, Puppeteer, Tearaway etc. Heck, if only Gravity Rush 2 ended as a big commercial success close to Uncharted, GoW, or TloU numbers, i think not just Sony will listen to people demands of making more original / unique / experimental / non-cinematic games but Japan Studio could still exist.

But like i said, people skipped that moment and now there's no turning back for Sony. At this point it is too late for people to cry at Sony who focus on AAA cinematic games as well live-service games.

If people wants original / unique non-cinematic games, it's better for them to expect that output from indies or 3rd party studios.

Re: 'It's a Relentless Onslaught': Wolverine PS5 Dev Responds to Unprecedented Criticism

PuppetMaster

@RoomWithaMoose 1. Then better let developers do what they want to do. You can give suggestions but don't dictate what creative route developers must or musn't take as if you know better than them. If you don't like their games then don't buy it.
2. Copying other games = not original
3. Same, not original
4. "Persona Wolverine"...you're joking right? 🤣
5. Wolverine sometimes used guns but a game where he just used guns from start to finish? I don't think that will work considering one big attraction for Wolverine is his adamantium claws and him slashing and dicing his enemies.
6. You mean adapting the comic arc where Wolverine stranded in Savage Land? It could work and fun but it doesn't sound original or ground breaking. Maybe Insomniac can do that for the sequel.

Re: 'It's a Relentless Onslaught': Wolverine PS5 Dev Responds to Unprecedented Criticism

PuppetMaster

@LemanRusk

So no one is allowed to ask for better games because the majority are happy with the ***** they consume?

Who said no one is allowed to ask for better games? The problem here is people do it wrong.

Popularity is not and has never been an indication of quality, selling less does not mean a game is worse.

Popularity doesn't always means the product isn't good either and these days missing target sales for AAA games means bad news for devs.

Simply saying make a good game and people will buy is hilariously short sighted

A safe but good game have more chances to sell than a bad game. It's just as simple as that. Would you spend your money for a bad game like Code Violet over solid, fun, but safe / unoriginal games like RE Requiem, Ghost of Yotei, or Wolverine? I bet you would take the later.

Re: 'It's a Relentless Onslaught': Wolverine PS5 Dev Responds to Unprecedented Criticism

PuppetMaster

@LemanRusk

Thats easy enough you make a character action game with actual combos and fighting game inputs OR you channel a combination of Metal Gear Rising and Sekiro

Copying what already done by other games is not original or even in the category ground breaking. And from the last gameplay trailer, Wolverine has parry mechanic although we don't know how it works.

If you wanted to there would be potential to list specific famous parts of Wolverine's various comic exploits to make into a game, Old Man Logan with the Hulk gang would be amazing, or go full Samurai.

Adapting comic arc is also not original. And this isn't 616 Wolverine. It has it's own universe.

Nah we'll make a cinematic third person action game with simplified combat, a skill tree to unlock and littered with words like gritty and grounded. At one point you will take part in a vehicle chase and leap between cars by pressing square.

We don't know much about the combat and the trailer didn't show any skill tree, how the parry works, etc. And the chasing scene looks nice and i bet there will be variations so i don't see what's the problem. Metal Gear Rising also has multiple scripted cinematic scenes with some QTE and no one complaints about it. But now Wolverine has it and somehow it's bad? Lol.

Re: 'It's a Relentless Onslaught': Wolverine PS5 Dev Responds to Unprecedented Criticism

PuppetMaster

Btw i feel the heavy irony every time i see people said they're bored with Sony 3rd person action games that looks cinematic and unoriginal.

When i look at Sony unique-non cinematic single player games such as Tearaway, Gravity Rush, Puppeteer, Patapon, Tokyo Jungle, or Concrete Genie, all of them doesn't sold well despite they got good reviews.

On the other hand, i've seen PS fans keeps asking Sony to revives old IP such as Killzone, Resistance, Uncharted, or Infamous which not just has strong cinematic flare but they also looks unoriginal.

So, at this point, i think it's too late for people to ask unique / non-cinematic single player games from Sony studios. You guys have better chances if Gravity Rush, Tearaway, Puppeteer, Patapon, Tokyo Jungle, or Concrete Genie became a commercial success. But with all of them ended as a flop, Sony have no reasons to invest enough money to pump out some experimental games that will likely no ones gonna buy...

Re: 'It's a Relentless Onslaught': Wolverine PS5 Dev Responds to Unprecedented Criticism

PuppetMaster

@Rich33

I much prefer a 'safe' but well made game, than a bad game with originality.
I'm just not sure how you make a Wolverine game that is original, without including some sort of 'uniqueness' that ends up alienating a large proportion of your userbase.

Yeah i feel the same. So far no one can explain what kind of originality / uniqueness that they expect from a Wolverine game without breaking the character traits. And originality just for the sake of originality sounds not right for me. If it doesn't fit / out of place with the established character and setting then there's no need to push for originality.

I think people should direct their demands for originality / uniqueness when comes to a brand new IP. With brand new IP, devs usually can show more their creative and new ideas without being tied or limited to established works.

Re: 'It's a Relentless Onslaught': Wolverine PS5 Dev Responds to Unprecedented Criticism

PuppetMaster

I think all of these gags are trying to present the game as unoriginal and outdated with rote gameplay

As much as i want devs to keeps pushing for originality and unique ideas for their games. But i think a superhero action game starring a mutant with adamantium claws, powerful regenerative healing factor that makes him close to immortal, superhuman senses, and superhuman strength, doesn't need to be original or ground breaking. It just needs to be a very fun and solid game that also makes people wants to learn more about the character and ended up as his fans. That's it.

Re: Round Up: Marvel's Wolverine Sounds Like Another Great Superhero Blockbuster in PS5 Previews

PuppetMaster

@naruball Exactly

I only played two Wolverine games in my life:

  • Wolverine: Adamantium Rage on Sega Genesis and the game was pretty mediocre.
  • X2: Wolverine's Revenge on PC and it was pretty good despite the clunky control and stealth mechanic.

I didn't get the chance to play Wolverine NES and X-Men Origins. But so far what Insomniac did with this game looks a lotttt better than every Wolverine games that i've played or seen.

Re: Round Up: Marvel's Wolverine Sounds Like Another Great Superhero Blockbuster in PS5 Previews

PuppetMaster

@RoomWithaMoose Anyone can be a critic just like everyone can have their opinion. But are you a good critic who really knows what you're talking about or just a criticaster who spews nonsense after nonsense and try to look smart? My problem with gaming journalist this days is a lot of them are the later.

Also, we're not talking about marvel movies here but a Wolverine game and i still don't know what kind of "reinvent the wheel" that gaming journalist wants / expect from a Wolverine game.

Re: Promising PS5 Sim Rideshare Rocked by Crazy AI Controversy, as CEO Crashes Out in Public

PuppetMaster

What a coincidence.

I just finished playing Metal Gear Rising where Raiden said "What would an AI knows about freedom" after he slashes Blade Wolf into pieces.

Reading this news, i feel i'm very lucky that i already experienced video games at its golden era back when devs was full passionate people who gave their own blood and tears to pump out the best / unique piece of arts ever.

But nowadays, with more and more companies / devs relying on AI over using their own creative mind, i expect the future for gaming will looks grim with more soulless slops like this game littering the gaming market.

Oh well, i guess this is what people asking for where AI to replace creative devs and pump out more soulles slop to consume 🤷‍♂️
