Re: Metal Gear Solid Delta Producer Is Hoping to Remake MGS4, Rescuing It from PS3 Jail

PuppetMaster

I doubt Konami will do justice with MGS 4 remake based on what they did with Delta. Heck, i don't think they can do a good remaster either looking at how they messed up Collection vol 1.

@LifeGirl Nah, nothing convoluted with MGS 4 story. I completely understood the story from my 1st playthrough.

And so far no one, i say it again NO ONE from Konami can do what Kojima and his team achieved with MGS series. So far no one from Konami have balls to create a new IP that as good as MGS either. What they did is just milking and messing up with Kojima's legacy.

Re: Nintendo Buys Singapore Studio Behind Papercraft PS5 Console Exclusive Hirogami

PuppetMaster

@RoomWithaMoose You didn't proof me wrong here 🤷‍♂️

You think NMH and Death Stranding are bad examples but they're still sequel that looks and plays similar to the 1st game. And Insomniac Spiderman, Ghost, Helldivers, Horizon, and GoW aren't big series with tons of sequels either. Spiderman 2 is the 2nd main title or 3rd game in the series. Yotei is the 2nd game in the series. Ragnarok is the 2nd game after GoW got reboot in 2018. Horizon FW is the 2nd main game in the series. And Helldivers 2 is the 2nd game in the series. But some of you are still yapping "boooo all looks and plays the same" lol.

Clearly Sony didn't mishandling their recent sequels unlike MS did with Halo and Gears. GoW Ragnarok, Spiderman 2, Horizon FW, Helldivers 2, Death Stranding 2, or Yotei aren't "derivative frequent sequels" or even close to modern Halo or Gears quality 🤷‍♂️

Also also quality over quantity and Sony has pretty good output. It's better for Sony to release 3-5 solid games /year rather than spamming 20 or 30 games /year that will cannibalize each other sales & marketing and got ignored by most people. Sony made that mistakes back in PS3 era and half of PS4 era and it took them long enough to realized they need to be more efficient with their outputs.

Re: PS5 Sales in Japan Quadruple as New Model Launches

PuppetMaster

@Oram77 I don't think "more powerful" is the main reason why it sold more than standard disc version. Before the price increased in Japan, the standard disc always sold more than Pro version.

@Titntin @themightyant Ok thanks for the insight.

@darylb24 Sony CEO is a Japanese, their main HQ is in Japan, and 51% or 57K from total 113K of their employees are dominated by Japanese. So how on earth you can claim Sony is an American giant???

Re: Nintendo Buys Singapore Studio Behind Papercraft PS5 Console Exclusive Hirogami

PuppetMaster

@Max_the_German "It‘s not about sequels in general. It’s about sequels which look and feel almost the same"

Some people including you doesn't understand that a sequel function is to continue what the 1st game already established and loves by plenty of people while adding some QoL here and there. You can't make a sequel looks and plays totally different than the first game just for the sake "it should be different".

No sane devs are crazy enough to throw away everything what they already successfully established with the 1st game and make a completely different sequel. Not even devs like Suda51 or Kojima who loves to experiment are stupid enough to do that. Look at No More Heroes 1 vs No More Heroes 2, MGS 1 vs MGS 2, and Death Stranding 1 vs Death Stranding 2 for example. They all still looks and plays similar but with some new change here and there.

Honestly, i want to see if people like you can make a sequel that looks and plays totally different than the 1st game. I want to see if it still gonna sell well or ended as a flop.

"A new IP doesn’t mean that Hirogami is more or less successful. If the game is mediocre, that’s the problem"

A lot of good new IP doesn't sold well either. Kunitsu Gami for example by no means a mediocre game. But it doesn't sold well.

In the end, a lot of gamers just doesn't know what they exactly want. Instead of just say "We want good games", they choose to nitpicking it should be a new IP or should be exactly like this and that. And when the new IP comes they didn't support. No wonder devs / publishers are playing it safe 🤷‍♂️

Re: Talking Point: Does PS5 Have a Sequel Problem?

PuppetMaster

@DarianStarfrog God of War series never follow 1:1 with Greek & Norse myth.

Kratos for example. The character in the game is very different from Kratos / Cratus in Greek myth. In Greek myth, Kratos isn't bald, isn't pale / his body covered with his family ashes, isn't a Spartan, isn't a demigod, never sweet alabama with Aphrodite, isn't Zeus son, and not a father of a god from different myth. The only similarity with both character is they are brutal, merciless, and a personification of strength.

Considering Angrboda is a myth just like Thor, Loki, Odin etc, it's normal that she has different interpretation of what she looks like. I honestly don't see what's the problem with her looks but i guess some anti-woke people loves to made a fuss just because Sweet Baby was credited for Ragnarok story.

@DennisReynolds lol ikr. Kratos in the game isn't even the same one from Greek myth and i never see or heard people make a fuss about it. But somehow, Angrboda doesn't look like in the myth is a big no and enough reason for some people to curse, hate, and boycott the game. It's just ridiculous 🙄

Re: Talking Point: Does PS5 Have a Sequel Problem?

PuppetMaster

@MrPeanutbutterz Ikr 🤝

I can't imagine if SF doesn't have sequel. SF II was the biggest reason why fighting game genre became very popular in the 90's and also today. With EVO moment 37 from 3rd Strike was one of the biggest reason that pulled in many people to play figting games and also why we've seen so many non-fighting games has parry mechanics lol.

Re: Talking Point: Does PS5 Have a Sequel Problem?

PuppetMaster

@Th3solution "The vocal fandom doesn’t like their safe IP to be messed with too much"

This.

I remembered when GoW 2018 showed for the 1st time and a lot of fans was very vocal about how they hate the new camera and combat changes with Kratos got a sidekick. I personally love it but back then i was worried it would end as a flop because how other fans react. Fortunately GoW 2018 was a big success.

But sadly it wasn't the same story for Breath of Fire V. I'm one of the few BoF fans who like BoF V. I thought it's a very fresh take with the underground setting, D-counter, and combat mixed between turn based, real time, and trap mechanic. But BoF fans hated it and it ended as a flop 😔

It's a damn if they do, damn if they don't situation for devs.

Re: Talking Point: Does PS5 Have a Sequel Problem?

PuppetMaster

@UltimateOtaku91 I would gladly double dip even for a port of the 1st game.

@MrPeanutbutterz Ikr 🤝
Or imagine sitting down on Resident Evil 2, SF Alpha 2, Mega Man Legends 2, GT 2, Twisted Metal 2, Crash Bandicoot 2, Dino Crisis 2, Parasite Eve 2, Syphon Filter 2, Tomb Raider 2, Symphony of the Night, or Tekken 2/3 and asking "Does PS1 have a sequel problem?".

But i guess nowadays a PS console can't have sequels anymore 😑

Re: Talking Point: Does PS5 Have a Sequel Problem?

PuppetMaster

Successful IP either they games, movies, anime, novel, or manga are usually got sequels and became long running franchise.

So i don't see any problem with Sony making sequels. There's huge demands for sequels and Sony pretty much fullfil those demands. It's not like Sony the only one who make sequels 🤷‍♂️

The thing is people who keeps asking about new IP's but many of them are all talk no action. A lot of new IP from Sony that ended as a flop or barely break even despite they're solid games. Some examples:

  • Tearaway. Vita ver sold around 80K copies ww but there's no data for Unfolded ver.
  • Puppeteer. Sold estimates around 230K copies ww.
  • Soul Sacrifice. Sold estimates around 160-180K copies. Delta ver sold 40K copies in Japan.
  • Heavenly Sword. Sold around 1.5 million copies and didn't break even. Sequel cancelled.
  • Tokyo Jungle. Sold estimates around 200K copies ww.
  • Folklore. Sold estimates around 300K copies ww.
  • Gravity Rush. Vita ver sold 200K copies ww, Remastered sold 20K copies, 2nd game sold around 100-200K copies ww.

If people didn't buy new IP's then less reason for Sony to make more of them 🤷‍♂️

Re: Final Fantasy X Was the 'Ultimate Perfection' of the Series, Says Dragon Quest Creator

PuppetMaster

I loves FF X. I don't think it needs a remake or another sequel and i don't disagreed with Hori statement despite i loves FF VII and Tactics more than X.

Edit:
My personal top 10 FF:
1. VII
2. Tactics
3. X
4. IX
5. XII
6. XV
7. VIII
8. XIII
9. Crisis Core
10. Type-0

I've played II, IV, VI, X-2, and XIII-2 & 3 but not finished or far enough to give a full rating. But i can see IV and VI could replace XIII and Type-0 in my top 10. I'm not yet played I, III, V, XI, XIV, Stranger Paradise, or dozens of spin-off.

Re: SEGA Actually Admits Persona 5 Royal-Style Re-Releases May Result in Stunted Game Sales

PuppetMaster

I bought vanilla Persona 3, 4, and 5 on day 1. Then i bought FES and Golden but didn't and will never buy Royal. I'm also didn't and probably will never buy Metaphor too. I learn my lesson.

Honestly tired of this stupid practice that disrespect early buyer and asking them to spend more money to buy complete version without offering upgrades.

Not to mention the practice of delisted old version because they make remastered or remake.

Re: Sony Poised to Publish PS5 Hit Death Stranding 2 on PC

PuppetMaster

"No point in owning a PS5 at this point"

Yeah Sony financial report shows they can't sell a single unit this year. Millions after millions of PS5 are piling up on retail gathering dust.

No one buys PS5 games too. GT 7, Astro Bot, Ghost of Yotei, Spiderman 2, Demon Souls remake, MLB, GoW Ragnarok, Horizon etc etc sold 0 copy on PS5.

I bet no one gonna buys a PS5 for GTA 6, Wolverine, Saros, Tokon, Intergalactic, or RE 9 either.

Man, PS5 is finished...

Re: Tekken Boss 'Interested' in Capcom's Street Fighter Paywall, Says Fighting Games Miss Out on Tournament Money

PuppetMaster

@DennisReynolds It's weird to see some people easily said they "hate fighting games" just because they must spend money to buy optional characters.

They feel so entitled that these optional characters should be unlock for free as if it doesn't require work, time, and money to create them all. There's no need for mocap, animation, rigging, modeling, the artworks, voice acting, balancing, or create specific music theme for the character. Just rub Genie lamp and ask him to do it then bam! all done in a second 😂

I remember one character in SF 6 require like 6 months to complete. Even a fireball model & animation require 4 months.

Re: Tekken Boss 'Interested' in Capcom's Street Fighter Paywall, Says Fighting Games Miss Out on Tournament Money

PuppetMaster

@MrPeanutbutterz I remember i unlocked Dr Boskovitch and Gon and both characters was a joke character. They're just not worth to unlocked.

I'm just baffled with some people who keeps shouting at cloud about "the good old days of unlocking character" and they want fighting games to go back to the old days again.

Those people didn't remember how frickin bad the tutorial, training mode, and input lags in old games. Comparing how fantastic SF 6 tutorial and training mode with SF II, III, Alpha, or IV feels very unfair. Wait, i don't think SF II on SNES / Sega Gen has tutorial mode either lmao.

Heck, i'm pretty sure some old fighting games on console doesn't have in-game moves list. Either they put the moves list on manual booklet or you need to call to specific phone numbers.

Not to mention SF 6 rollback netcode is just superb 😍. I wish every fighting games has rollback netcode as good as SF 6.

Re: Tekken Boss 'Interested' in Capcom's Street Fighter Paywall, Says Fighting Games Miss Out on Tournament Money

PuppetMaster

@Shaw_Brothers You prefer the old days where you need to buy a full game multiple times if you want a balance patch, new color, stage, new mechanic, etc? Lol you're joking right?

And unlocking a character wasn't happened for most old fighting games either. For SF II, in World Warrior you can't unlock the 4 boss Balrog, Sagat, Vega, and Bison. You need to buy Champion Edition to play them. The same for Cammy, Dee Jay, T-Hawk, and Fei Long. You need to buy Super SF II to played as them. And if you want to play as Akuma, you need to buy Super SF II Turbo, which back then only released for arcade, 3DO, DOS, and amiga. So, if back then you only owned SNES or Sega Genesis then you're not getting Akuma and the best SF II version.

Heck, in SF II: World Warrior you and your opponent can't pick the same character aka no mirror match.

Some people has rose tinted glasses with the old days of fighting games. I've been playing fighting games for more than 30+ years and the only think i missed from the old days is supermarket or mall used to have dedicated corner for arcade machine.

Re: Tekken Boss 'Interested' in Capcom's Street Fighter Paywall, Says Fighting Games Miss Out on Tournament Money

PuppetMaster

I'm not surprise with Harada statement. The guy keeps making blunder after blunder with Tekken 8.

@Cephun Capcom actually did similar back in SF V era. People can buy "CPT Premier Pass" that contains exclusives in-game color, customes, stage, and title. The revenue from this premier pass was used to keep CPT / Capcom Cup running.
https://saiganak.com/news/sfv-capcom-pro-tour-premier-pass-complete-bundle-launch/

But somehow, after they separate SF devs and e-sport into their own division, this new people who handle e-sport division thinks locking Capcom Cup behind paywall is a much better practice than a Premier Pass :/

Re: You Can Buy a Fully-Fledged PS5 for the Same Price as a Less Powerful Xbox Series S Right Now

PuppetMaster

@Oram77 "Sony need to be smart on this and not be completely tone deft like what they did with the PS3. The PS3 was not reasonably priced"

Looking back at 2006, PS3 was actually the cheapest bluray player at that time. It could cost you $1000 if you buy Samsung BD-P1000 and it could cost you $1800 if you want more high end player like Pioneer Elite BDP-HD 1.

So, if Sony didn't subsidized PS3 and followed a "reasonably priced" bluray player, PS3 would pass $1000 or even more considering og PS3 also has PS2 emotion engine for PS2 BC.

And it's a well known fact that Sony produced PS3 at a significant loss for a couple of years. If they sell it at more lower price like $299 at launch following people demands, Sony would probably bankrupt and the end of PS journey.

We don't know how expensives PS6 but my best guess it would be $500 and $600 for bigger storage.

Re: Persona, Metaphor Director Says JRPGs Are on the Brink of a New Era

PuppetMaster

Anyone remember Dark Cloud 1 & 2 and Legend of Mana?

Dark Cloud with "Georama mode" and Legend of Mana with "Land Make" system was superb and quite revolutionary for JRPG genre: build your own city and landscape. Beside Ni no Kuni, i didn't see today's JRPG who's brave enough to continue and pushed forward what Dark Cloud and Legend of Mana already excellently did decades ago.

Or anyone remember Koudelka / Shadow Hearts and Parasite Eve? I don't think we ever see any JRPG mixed with survival horror anymore.

It feels like today's JRPG are focus more and more on looking pretty and stylish while play it safe...

Re: Persona, Metaphor Director Says JRPGs Are on the Brink of a New Era

PuppetMaster

I respectfully disagreed with Hashino.

Combat wise, I don't think Metaphor, 1st Trails in the Sky remake, or Expedition 33 offers any substantial evolution that brings us closer to "JRPG 3.0".

Heck, old JRPG like Vagrant Story, Valkyrie Profile, or Resonance of Fate already far ahead of their time and leave JRPG today in the dust. They already evolved JRPG genre by offered a perfect blend of turn based and real time as well pretty unique & fresh combat mechanics.

A lot of people praise Expedition 33 parry mechanic as if it the game who started the parry trend in RPG. But Vagrant Story already has parry as well block and counter mechanic decades before Expedition 33. Legend of Dragoon also has parry / counter mechanic.

There's JRPG who has combat similar to fighting games complete with motion input and moves list like Tales of and Legend of Legaia.

Or JRPG where you can hit specifically for multiple body parts? Again, Vagrant Story also has it.

Or Breath of Fire V that blends turn based with trap mechanic, which sadly very under appreciated because it tries something completely new compare to previous BoF.

But well...i guess the new shiny toys always gets more recognition than the old toys huh?

Re: Xbox Devs 'Thrilled' to Be Bringing Their Games to PS5

PuppetMaster

@Megabeenz Very true. PS games, although not all of them, has different vibes and it fits with my taste. That guy needs to start selling his projection, he could make more money than IMAX theatres lol.

@Rich33 The same. I enjoyed some FPS but overall i'm not a fan of the genre. I quite enjoyed Doom or Titanfall but i can't get into Overwatch, Counter Strike, Halo, Apex etc. I don't think they're a bad game though.

@nomither6 I tried ME 1 on PC and i didn't enjoyed the gameplay. Then i tried ME Legendary edition on PS4 and i still didn't enjoyed it. But i like the setting though. Maybe someday i'll give ME another try.

Re: Xbox Devs 'Thrilled' to Be Bringing Their Games to PS5

PuppetMaster

@Rich33 Wait wait wait. You're not interested with Xbox 1st party games too?! Bruh, i found that hard to believe when the fact everyone and their grandma loves Xbox games!
.
.
j/k man 😁✌️

Talk about Oblivion or Bethesda games, i've tried Oblivion, Skyrim, as well Fallout 3 on PC like many moons ago. I got plenty of crashed and frame drops which i can tolerate if i have fun with the story and gameplay. But sadly they weren't fun for me.

I think i personally just don't vibe with most WRPG like Fable, Elder Scrolls, Witcher, Fallout, Cyberpunk, Mass Effect, Diablo etc. But at least i gave them some try.

Re: Xbox Devs 'Thrilled' to Be Bringing Their Games to PS5

PuppetMaster

@Striker21 "Halo, Gears, Forza, Age of Empires, Hellblade 2, South of Midnight, Avowed, Fable, Blade, Indiana Jones, Doom, Keeper, Outer World etc."

How you feels thrilled for Blade when it doesn't even have a gameplay trailer?

And I forgot to say, i did played Fable 1 on PC and i think it's a bad game. I hope that doesn't hurt your feelings but i think i already hurt your feelings a lot when you found out i'm not interested with Xbox 1st party games 😁

The rest just meh and sadly that includes Doom. I loves Doom 2016 and Eternal but somehow The Dark Ages was a big downgrade compare to 2016 and Eternal. I don't feel thrilled for the series future or have any hope that the next Doom will be as good as 2016 or Eternal.

"It seems wild to me that you just casually decided to ignore all those franchises and the different kinds of games because they don't seem to even attract your interest, but I accept that your worldview seems to be different than mine."

Nothing wild if someone doesn't have any interest with Xbox 1st party games. The same can be said for PS and Nintendo 1st party games. Everyone has their own taste.

But it's wild to me how you trully believes as if every single Xbox 1st party games / franchise is a big home run where everyone should care or have interest. You really live in a different world than mine lol.
