Re: PS5's First State of Play of 2026 Tipped for Later This Week

PuppetMaster

@get2sammyb Yeah. I remember M.A.G, Warhawk, Starhawk, R&C: All 4 One, and Socom 4. Even GoW Ascension, UC 2-3, Killzone 2-3, Redistance 1-3, Twisted Metal, and TloU has dedicated MP / co-op mode that enjoyed by a lot of people.

Not sure why some people acting like it's a taboo for Sony to make a co-op game with story campaign that can be played solo.

Re: Horizon Hunters Gathering Is Guerrilla's Next Big PS5 Game, Horizon 3 Still Years Away

PuppetMaster

@LogicStrikesAgain lol yeah. At this point i'm not sure what some people really want. They got what they asked for but somehow they're ignoring those small games.

I myself bought so many small / niche games and i never ever get "this or that game feels like they don't look like a playstation game". Heck, I don't even care that much if Sony is the one who made those games. If they looks fun to me and available on PS then i'll buy it.

Re: Horizon Hunters Gathering Is Guerrilla's Next Big PS5 Game, Horizon 3 Still Years Away

PuppetMaster

@RoomWithaMoose He mention Flower and Bounds and those wasn't by Sony devs either despite they're PS exclusives. That's why i mention Sword of the Sea, The Midnight Walk, Lumines Arise, and Baby Steps because they're in similar situation like Flower and Bounds.

So my whole point still stand: we're still getting those indie / AA console exclusives games between big releases despite they aren't by Sony devs.

Can't blame Sony devs either for stepping away from niche AA experimental games. The numbers aren't lying. They can't keep making games that doesn't sell or they'll end up in the chopping block.

Like i said, if only 15-20% of PS fans buy Gravity Rush, Afrika, and Tokyo Jungle or at least they sold more than 1-2 million copies maybe we will get more of those by Sony devs. But sadly the majority of PS fans doesn't give a flying f* about those games 🤷‍♂️

Re: Horizon Hunters Gathering Is Guerrilla's Next Big PS5 Game, Horizon 3 Still Years Away

PuppetMaster

@somnambulance "I miss when we had games like Flower, Bound, and Gravity Rush filled the empty space between bigger releases"

You mean similar to last year indie / AA console exclusives games like Sword of the Sea (by Flower / Journey devs), The Midnight Walk, Baby Steps, or Lumines Arise that Sony promoted at SoP and their blog?
https://blog.playstation.com/2025/12/22/10-indie-games-from-2025-that-delighted-the-playstation-indies-teams/

And last month there's Cairn which also console exclusive and i remembered Sony showed it on SoP.

I think Sony is still trying for those games. They just don't do it in-house anymore like Gravity Rush, Afrika, or Tokyo Jungle because they didn't sold well. If only 15-20% of PS fans buy those games...

Re: Horizon Hunters Gathering Is Guerrilla's Next Big PS5 Game, Horizon 3 Still Years Away

PuppetMaster

@Boxmonkey A spin-off can still canon to main games. Example; RE Code Veronica, Outbreak, Dead Aim, Revelations, and Gun Survivor are spinoff and their story are canon.

And like @Areus said, they apologized because they knew some people gonna throw a tantrum.

But this complaint is funny coming from you who put Horizon: Zero Dawn as one of your "Nope" list. You don't play or like Horizon so why are you here complaining about this game???

Re: Horizon Hunters Gathering Is Guerrilla's Next Big PS5 Game, Horizon 3 Still Years Away

PuppetMaster

It's crazy how some people complaining as if a taboo for Guerilla to make a spinoff co-op game with stylistic artstyle that separate it with mainline Horizon. It's like complaining about Square made FF spinoff like Vagrant Story or Chocobo Dungeon that has different aesthetic and gameplay than mainline FF games.

Heh. Anyway. This gen already have multiple Horizon games to satisfy the fans:

  • Forbidden West + Burning Shores DLC
  • Call of the Mountain
  • Zero Dawn remastered
  • Lego Horizon
  • Steel Frontier
  • and Hunters Gathering

So it's okay. Guerilla can take their time cooking the 3rd mainline Horizon.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 619

PuppetMaster

I've been playing:

  • FF X HD on PS3 / on the way to Djose Temple.
  • Vagrant Story on Vita / just came out from Snowfly forest. After all these years, this game still looks very stylistic and fun to play.

Square old games not just they age well but they also have very high replayability compare to the new ones. Man, i really miss Squaresoft...sigh, if only they didn't merge with Enix.

Enjoy your weekend everyone 🍻

Re: PS5 Officially Outsells PS3, Now at 92.2 Million Units

PuppetMaster

@twitchtvpat Back then the budget wasn't as high as PS4/5 gen. Uncharted 2 for example, based on Eurogamer report the budget was estimated around $20 million. So Resistance 3 and Killzone 3 possibly got break even + earned some profit despite they only sold 1-2 million copies.

But it's true that many 1st party PS3 games sold modest to not well like Puppeteer, White Knight Chronicles, Modnation Racers, LBP Karting, PS AllStars Battle Royale, Siren Blood Curse, Folklore, Lair, Starhawk, MAG, Twisted Metal, Genji, Afrika, Tokyo Jungle etc.

Despite the diverse lineup, PS3 was Sony most painful era because the result was the start for many studio closure (Japan studio, London studio, Zipper, Evolution etc).

Re: Poll: What's Your Reaction to Horizon Hunters Gathering?

PuppetMaster

@StitchJones "most PS fans just want one type of game. Epic AAA single player, story driven games. That is Sony's strength."

I seriously doubt most PS fans only want "AAA single player story driven games" when Gran Turismo, a racing game, is the highest selling PS 1st party franchise at 100 million copies.

And Sony strength is diverse lineup with different genres. They did platformer, sports, RPG, TPS, FPS, fighting, racing, car combat, puzzle, quiz, survival horror, open world, and even quirky-weird ones.

Re: Sony Finally Confirms Horizon Co-Op Game, Horizon Hunters Gathering for PS5, PC

PuppetMaster

@Areus Yeah. I remember it's not that long ago people crying and whining that they bored with Sony's "AAA realistic + sad-dad + dealing with grief and pain" games.
https://www.ign.com/articles/im-getting-bored-of-every-playstation-game-telling-the-same-story

I guess right now we're at the start of "Sony please stop doing this colorful & cartoony 3rd person action games!" phase.

I wonder how long this phase gonna stay before people go back to "Sony stop with this AAA realistic-gritty-movie-sad dad games!" phase...

Re: Poll: What's Your Reaction to Horizon Hunters Gathering?

PuppetMaster

I think the artstyle looks nice similar to Arcane, gameplay looks fun, and it have story campaign that can be played solo. I'm interested to played it and this come from a guy who's not really a fan of co-op games.

I'm not sure why some people are quick to hate it though, especially after they complaining about Sony only do "cinematic 3rd person action" and "gritty-sad dad" games with realistic graphic. This is nothing like Fortnite, Overwatch, or even Concord.

And this one is a spin-off, not Horizon 3 which has been confirmed in the works. So Guerilla can try some different stuff with this game.

Re: PS5 Officially Outsells PS3, Now at 92.2 Million Units

PuppetMaster

@themightyant Yeah it's very possible for PS5 to outsell PS1 either this year or early next year. And i agree it doesn't need to outsell PS4 although i think it's still possible.

@Pat_trick "But at the same time, in my opinion there was no game that defined the generation"

R&C Rift Apart? Spiderman 2? Death Stranding 2? Astro Bot? FF 16?

GTA 6 and Intergalactic also have potential as game of this generation.

Re: PS5 Officially Outsells PS3, Now at 92.2 Million Units

PuppetMaster

"With the release of Ghost of Yotei helping the stats, 13,2 million first-party games were sold in the same quarter"

I think it's safe to say Yotei already pass 5-6 million copies. But i'm curious what's the rest. Death Stranding 2? GoW Ragnarok? TloU 2 remaster? GT 7? Spiderman 2? Astro Bot? Horizon? Ratchet? Demon's Souls? Returnal? Sony should show the numbers, at least for top 10.

Re: Rumour: Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Skips PS5 Exclusivity, Will Be Multi-Platform Straight Away

PuppetMaster

I'm not sure if Switch 2 version will sell a ton in Japan when Intergrade only sold 23K copies on Switch 2.
https://www.gematsu.com/2026/01/famitsu-sales-1-19-26-1-25-26

@johnedwin Now Square are in trouble again. Their financial report looks bad with sharp declining profits and sales. But Sony not gonna bailed them again especially after Square president pretty much said they're not gonna work exclusively with Sony anymore.

Re: 'We've Got Much More in Store': Legendary DOOM Developer id Software Celebrates 35th Anniversary

PuppetMaster

@trev666 Jump dash and double jump made the combat more dynamic, fast pace, and intense. On top of that, it makes Eternal level design feels more organic because it has more verticality that requires constant movement. Compare to Dark Ages level design which most of the time are big-open-flat arena that makes enemy movement looks very telegraph and traversal feels boring.

Eternal Jump dash and double jump are imho a much better addition than parry and the half ass dragon and mech level in Dark Ages.

Re: Sorry, PS3 Users, Netflix Is Dropping Support for Sony's 20-Year-Old Console Next Month

PuppetMaster

"the PS3 will at least remain the only console of its generation with a working digital store"

Sadly, i think this is gonna end too. I just tried to login to the store from my US and Asia account and both store keeps showing "the session has expired" over and over. Tomorrow i'm gonna try it again and if it still the same then i guess PS3 store is really dead...

Edit:
The store are working again...

Re: Resident Evil Requiem PS5 Goes Live-Action for New Short Film Trailer

PuppetMaster

Why RE short live act film like this always much better than the full budget ones from Holywood?

Last year fan made movie, The Keeper Diary, was also awesome. I really reccomend any RE fans to watch it.

And it's crazy that Netflix tv show got greenlight but not Arklay 🥀

I hope this year Zach Cregger can break the curse for RE live act movie.
