The iconic Castlevania franchise turns 40 later this year, and Konami is looking to celebrate the occasion in style. It has Belmont's Curse confirmed for release on PS5 later this year, but that's not all it'll have.
A post on the Castlevania Portal Site reveals the new Metroidvania title is just the "beginning of numerous new products around Castlevania". While this could encompass other media efforts — there's been a Netflix TV series, for example — you'd think more Castlevania games would be part of the celebratory push.
Elsewhere, the message says Castlevania "will be revived" in this "commemorative year" of 2026. Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is only the "first" title to mark the 40th anniversary, which Konami expands with:
"We couldn’t think in other studios to work together rather than Evil Empire and Motion Twin, studios brimming with talent and passion, to deliver a new exploration-based 2D action game that captures the essence of Castlevania while bringing fresh innovation."
