Re: Resident Evil 0 PS5 Remake Rumours Persist, Could Still Be Years Away

PuppetMaster

@darkswabber Yeah possibly. We'll see...

@Porco What do you want them to do exactly? Just kill their golden goose?

And some RE spinoff actually sold quite well and has pretty loyal / dedicated fanbase:

  • Revelations 1 sold 4.1 mill
  • Revelations 2 sold 3.8 mill
  • Revelations 1+2 collection sold 1.6 mill
  • Operation Raccoon City sold 2.8 mill
  • Outbreak 1 sold 1.4 mill
  • Umbrella Chronicles sold 1.3 mill

Re: Former God of War Dev Says Major Studios Should Make Smaller Games to Complement the Big Ones

PuppetMaster

I think Meghan forgot PS3 + PSP era where Sony studios pumped out A-AA games.

Japan Studio for example, they pumped out a lot of A-AA games from Tokyo Jungle, Afrika, The Last Guy, Puppeteer, Rain, Loco Roco, Patapon, Echochrome, What Did I Do to Deserves This, My Lord?, No Heroes Allowed, White Knight Chronicles etc etc.

Or how Santa Monica collab / published indies like Bound, Fat Princess, The Unfinished Swan, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Hohokum, Escape Plan etc.

But a lot of those games doesn't sold well. Even games like Entwined and Concrete Genie doesn't sold well too and the main reason why Pixelopus got closed down.

I personally okay with the idea of making smaller games. Maybe they could tone down their game budget from $200-300 million to $100 million. Or follow Sucker Punch where Yotei budget is similar to Tsushima around $60 million.

But the biggest question is are the majority of PS owners gonna buy exclusive 1st party games that doesn't look advanced?

Re: The Possibility of Ghost of Yotei DLC Could Be Down to You

PuppetMaster

  • Infamous 2: Festival of Blood
  • Infamous: Paper Trail
  • Infamous: First Light
  • Ghost of Tsushima: Iki Island

Looking at SP history, possibly they're gonna make that story DLC. And why not when a lot of fans who played Yotei are enjoying Atsu story and they want more.

Beside, from the interview feels like if SP make the 3rd Ghost game then they would use a new protag.

I finished RE 0 HD years ago. I really like the zapping / partner system that shows Billy and Rebecca specialty (Billy has bigger health, more chance for critical shot, and can push big boxes while Rebecca has less health, can't push big boxes, but can mixed herbs + more inventory). The train setting was cool too.

But without item box and each room / location has their own limit for item drop, it makes backtracking and item management not fun and super tedious.

Also, RE 0 probably has the weakest enemy design in the series. Most of them are just animals like monkeys, leech, scorpion, bats, leech etc.

If Capcom gonna remake this game, i think they need to do something with the enemies and add item box. If not then why bother. The HD version still looks good.

@kyleforrester87 I already tried the suggested process like deactivated>actovated account and it doesn't work. There's also redownload but the game dissapeared from my download list and the store doesn't have buy/download option anymore.

I check delistedgames.com and turns out the game was removed back in 2015/16.
https://delistedgames.com/disgaea-hour-of-darkness/

I guess NISA wants people to buy the remake :/

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 603

Sorry a bit off topic;

I just found out that digital PS3 games has expiration date :/

Last night i browsed my digital PS3 games information (push triangle on the game thumbnail). I want to see their file size and when i check PS2 classic Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, there's an expiration date that showed "expired". I tried to start it and it gave me error message "the license was expired and no more available".

So i go to the US store and turns out Disgaea was gone from my download list. Funnily the store still has page for the game but there's no download or buy option.

Then i check other games and Max Payne 3 and Hotline Miami 2 also has expiration date. They showed longass numbers like "145908424 days".

Luckily the rest of my digital PS3 games doesn't have expiration date. They either showed "no time limit" or didn't show it at all. But who knows if the publisher decided to removed these games from the store and download list...

But with this, my worries and dissapointment for digital games has increased. I think i'm gonna buy less digital games for now.

Anyone in here who still have a PS3, i suggest to boot up and check your digital games. Maybe some of them already expired.

@l_16bitWarlock_l Agreed. Judgement feels like a breath of fresh air. Yagami as detective + lawyer is a big contrast to Kiryu ex-Yakuza. And after Yakuza 6, i think Nagoshi already prepare to end Yakuza series and continue with Judgment.

But sadly there's a problem with Takuya Kimura agent and then Lost Judgment didn't sold as good as Judgment. So, Sega ditch Judgment and decided to keeps milking Yakuza, which probably the reason why Nagoshi left the company.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 603

Playing:

  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution (PS3)
Been playing this game since monday and it still as great as i remember. Although back then i played it on PC and i don't experience any performance issues. Oh well, the frame drop when there's plenty of NPC and bigger open space are still tolerable.

Finished:

  • Slave Zero X (PS4)
It's unfortunate a fun game like this has nasty performance & technical issues. The game got crashed when the roll credit shows up. So i restart the game and turns out that crashed also corrupted the save file which forced me to delete the save file. SMH. Why Ziggurat Interactive didn't fix this? :/
  • Yakuza 6 (PS4)
Finished it for the second time with Hard difficulty. I still believe this game should end Yakuza series or at least Kiryu arc. Sadly Sega doesn't have the balls to let Kiryu rest so they milked him in Yakuza 7, 8, and Gaiden which i think really ruin Yakuza 6 ending. sigh...

Have a great weekend everyone 🍻

Edit:
I think i'm also gonna play Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 / 2 to give my respect to Tomonobu Itagaki. Rest in peace legend 😔🙏

Re: 'Astro Bot Has So Much Potential': Sony Merch Boss Predicts Big Things for Platformer

PuppetMaster

@naruball Fully agreed 🤝

@trev666 Nintendo produced and released plenty of Mario and Pokemon games every year and no one say "too much Mario / Pokemon". But Astro Bot only had 5 titles with 3 of them function as a tech demo in the span of 12 years and somehow it's too much? 🙄

@Vyse_the_Legend Is this the Wild Arms 5 figure?

And yeah we need classic PS franchise to comeback. Would love a sequel for Folklore.

Re: Sony Strikes Back at Tencent's Horizon Rip-Off, Says Light of Motiram 'Jeopardises' Future Success

PuppetMaster

@SMJ - The first Pac-Man released in 1980 has collecting dots mechanics as the core mechanic before Nintendo came up with collecting coins in Super Mario 1.

  • Tomb Raider The Last Revelation / Chronicles has tightrope walking mechanic before Mario Sunshine.
  • Sonic games on Sega Genesis has tilting/twisting platforms before Mario 64

Hey. Turns out Nintendo did blatantly copied a lot of mechanics from other games too.

@arty1977 Remember, Nintendo fanboys logic = every gameplay mechanic was invented by Nintendo.

Re: Sony's Increasing Power Over Anime Is Starting to Raise Some Eyebrows

PuppetMaster

@Questionable_Duck Except Sony never monopoly the anime industry.

There's plenty of anime studios in Japan that Sony didn't own. From Production I.G, Sunrise, Madhouse, Toei, Ghibli, Mappa, Wit Studio, etc.

And there's plenty of anime streaming service beside Crunchyroll from Netflix, Disney+, Amazon etc. People has plenty of choices. I myself never used Crunchyroll because there's Muse Asia and Ani-One Asia on youtube which are free and legal.

Re: Sony Plans to Start Shooting Horizon Movie in 2026, with 2027 Release Planned

PuppetMaster

@1UP-HUSKY Imho Twisted Metal was fun especially season 2 has more actions with the tournament and Calypso. Until Dawn wasn't as bad as some people claim.

@nessisonett Caught Stealling, Bullet Train, the Jumanji movies, The Equalizer 3, Bad Boys: For Life and Ride or Die, Ghostbusters Afterlife, and The Mitchells vs the Machines was all received positively. Even Paddington in Peru also received positively. Sony didn't make 1 good movie and then make 9 bad movies.

Re: The Silent Hill 2 Remake Now Represents a Quarter of the Series' Total Sales

PuppetMaster

@Oram77 They probably in 100K copies or less. PS3/360 definitely not a good era for SH series and the fans.

But despite the mixed to negative reception, i'm actually quite enjoyed Homecoming combat and story. And the Otherworld transition and wound effect after we stab / hit the monster looks cool too. Unfortunately, the game has some bad technical issues. I played it on PS3 and experienced some nasty frozen multiple times which made me gave up to finish the game.

@ratmsc Hey no problem 🤝

@Carnage For me, SH 4 biggest problems are limited inventory, breakable weapons, quite tedious backtrack, and Eileen dumb A.I. But outside that, i really loves the creepy vibe of Henry's room, the story which Walter probably the best villain in the series, very creepy monster design, and great music.

Re: The Silent Hill 2 Remake Now Represents a Quarter of the Series' Total Sales

PuppetMaster

I guess 2.5 million copies means Konami & Bloober already makes profit. I doubt the budget reach $100 million considering there's no massive marketing for the game.

I'm not yet buy this remake since i didn't really enjoyed SH 2 that much compare to SH 1 and 3. But maybe i'll buy it along with SH 1 remake.

@Th3solution SH franchise always been in the semi-popular or niche status.

  • SH 1 sold 2 million copies
  • og SH 2 sold 1 million copies
  • SH 3 sold 350K copies
  • SH 4 sold 270K copies
  • SH Origins 250K copies

Can't find Homecoming, Shattered Memories, Downpour, Book of Memories, and HD collection numbers though.

"This, according to Yamaguchi, reduces the opportunity for other artists to get involved"

Isn't that how music / record label works since eons ago? If a musician isn't part of the label then why would that record company give the job to that musician when they already have musicians who signed under their label?

But if the guy think he's good enough then why not contact Sony Music / Aniplex and try to make a deal with them?

Re: Ghost of Yotei Sales Fall Off In Japan, But PS5 Exclusive Still Sticks Around in Second Place

PuppetMaster

@darylb24 I think the majority of PS players just wants to play good games. They don't care if it a sequel or new IP. If most of them are suffering a "sequel fatigue" then new IP like Concord should sold a ton while sequels like GoW Ragnarok, Spidey 2, etc didn't do well right?

But the fact is in the last 5 years (2021-25) Sony studios only released 7 sequel and all of them sold well:

  • R&C Rift Apart (2021): 3.9 million copies
  • GoW Ragnarok (2022): 15 million copies
  • Horizon FW (2022): 8.4 million copies
  • GT 7 (2022): estimates 14 million copies
  • Spiderman 2 (2023): 11 million copies
  • Astro Bot (2024): 2.3 million copies
  • Ghost of Yotei (2025): 1st week estimates 1.6 million copies

Even exclusives sequel from 3rd party studios like Helldivers 2 (sold 12 million copies), Death Stranding 2 (estimates 1.3 million copies), FF XVI (3.5 million copies), and Silent Hill 2 remake (2 million copies) also sold well on PS.

Re: 'Astro Bot Has So Much Potential': Sony Merch Boss Predicts Big Things for Platformer

PuppetMaster

I personally would love to see more action figures from other PS IP like Wild Arms, ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, Ape Escape, Omega Boost, Dark Cloud, Soul Sacrifice, or Alundra. But i guess they're too niche for action figures compare to GoW, TloU, Killzone, Uncharted, Horizon, R&C, and Ghost.

Anyway. I saw Kratos action figure from Spin Master and it cost around $24. It looks decent but right now i'm saving some money to get Astro Bot and Kratos Nendoroid. The two of them combine cost around $112 bucks. They looks adorable and perfect for my shelf or gaming desk.
