The future of character action games is looking pretty solid with Phantom Blade Zero, Onimusha, Nioh 3, Loulan, Tides of Annihilation, and Crimson Desert.
It would be more awesome if we a get a new God Hand, Strider, and Rygar.
@Frmknst This isn't a "Soulslike" game though but a character action games like DMC, Bayonetta, or Ninja Gaiden.
@Pat_trick I'm not yet played RE 8 but i finished RE 7 main campaign and i never feel one bit that the game is too far from classic RE game, unlike RE 4-6. It has:
Slow pace in the beginning with only 2-3 enemies to fight
Backtracking like a lot
Puzzles
Traps
Item management
Nemesis like figure who keeps hunting players
A good amount of blood and gore
A couple of jump scares
The final act that plays more action because Ethan got enough firepower to blow up White House
The usual virus / bioweapon plot
Multiple endings
Even the Baker Estate feels and plays quite similar to the Spencer Mansion.
Street Fighter 6
Free multiplayer weekend without PS+. So i boot up this game again and it still really fun despite i didn't played Ranked Match for 4 months. I'm quite rusty though dropping bnb combo and my matchup knowledge against C.Viper is zero lol. But i managed to won against her + multiple matches and earned 1544 MR. I'm curious if i can reach High Master rank with my boy Ed at the end of this week 😁
The Legend of Dragoon
That Mark Cerny article made me boot up this game again and continue my playthrough. Right now i'm on Disc 2 or at Fueno, just rejoined with the rest of the gang. The pre-rendered background still looks beautiful to look at. It's sad how nowadays pre-rendered background feels like lost art...
I don't care about WB games like MK, Hogwart etc. But as a DC Comic fans, i'm worried that Netflix gonna fired James Gunn and restructure the rest of DC Comic & DC Studios, thus deleting / rebooting DCU again. But we'll see...
@Porco "the number of asian games hitting the ps5 is no coincidence under the circumstances. Had things been different, many of these games would have remained on pc only, but sony is going the extra mile to ensure they hit the ps5 to make up for its void of releases and project mismanagement."
What's even the problem here???
Obviously no coincidence if you really follow closely when and how Sony established their relationship with Asian devs and it wasn't recently but almost a decade ago.
Right now Sony is reaping the fruits of their hardwork from a decade ago and if things had been different a lot of these Asian games wouldn't exist.
FYI. Sony started working with plenty of Asian devs including Chinese and Korean devs since PS4 era. China Hero Project itself was started in 2016, not long after China lifted their ban for video games console in 2014 and then Sony launched PS4 for China back in March 2015.
In order for Sony to gain a strong foothold within China market, they established China Hero Project that helped Chinese devs with their project from start to launch. But in return, Sony got some console exclusivity.
Outside China Hero Project, Sony also worked with Mihoyo on launching their game Genshin Impact for PS4 back in 2020 and it was a big success. Both Sony and Mihoyo earned $Billions of revenue and the game is still one of Sony biggest 3rd party golden cow.
Then Sony worked together with Shift Up for Stellar Blade or used to known as Project Eve back in 2019. The games success (sold 2 million copies on PS5 and 1 million on PC) is a big inspiration for other Korean devs to developed more games for console especially for PS.
The way Sony established their relationship with Asian devs through China Hero Project + other collabs and followed by games like Genshin Impact, Black Myth Wukong, or Stellar Blade are the biggest reasons why right now PS5 got tons of games from Asian devs.
Kudos for Sony of course 👏. They worked hard searching for new potential devs / market and then putting their foothold in those regions. Meanwhile their competitors are lazying around thinking there's no potential market and devs outside US, EU, and Japan.
@LogicStrikesAgain I don't get what he means with Sony relies on China and Korea for AAA output either. And what's more weird is now Sony can't have games from Asian devs? Like what even the complaint here lol.
I thought we should be happy that PS5 has more variety to choose and play? I thought people demands they wants more games from Asian devs and less from big-bad western devs? But now more and more Asian devs are working on PS5 and suddenly it's a bad thing? Huh??? 🤷♂️😂
@Rich33 I think we should expect this game will launch with some performances issues considering it used UE5 and Suda and his team doesn't have a really good track record when comes to launch a game with polished / few performance issues.
@SeaDaVie "If they actually wanted to make a game specifically for the Japanese market it would probably just be an anime gacha game like Genshin Impact."
Pretty much this since Japan loves their anime-gacha-waifu games so much.
@RoomWithaMoose "But that kinda makes you think these trends are more a PS5 problem rather than a not-DQ problem"
Fun fact. Xenoblade 3, Nintendo 1st party game, only sold 112K copies in the 1st week. With Switch 25-30 million installbase in Japan at that year, I thought the game could at least sell 500K-1 million copies in the 1st week but it wasn't.
And a couple more recent examples:
Ys X for Switch only sold 15K copies in the 1st week.
Trails in the Sky 1 remake for Switch only sold 21K copies in the 1st week.
Tales of Xillia remastered for Switch only sold 10K copies in the 1st week.
FF Tactics remastered for Switch only sold 41K copies in the 1st week.
So no, this isn't a "PS5 only problem" like you believes. It is what it is: the majority of Japan just doesn't give a damn about RPG not-DQ or Pokemon anymore. Japan RPG market has totally changed compare to 20-30 years ago.
"It's hard to say if that's a software or just a hardware problem, but it does seem like Sony doesn't even try to put out stuff for their native fans these days."
What do you think Sony did back in PS3 and PS4 era? They pumped out those Japanese games left and right and most of them ended as a flop. White Knight Chronicles, The Last Guardian, Tokyo Jungle, Freedom Wars, Soul Sacrifice, Toukiden, Oreshika, Gravity Rush, Puppeteer etc etc. Japan doesn't want them.
Heck. Even Astro Bot, a GotY winner developed by Japanese devs and fit perfectly for Japan audiences taste, only sold 12K copies in the 1st week despite it received 36/40 from Famitsu and solid marketing from Sony.
I think there's not much Sony can do with Japan...
I remembered one of my college friend loves this series so much and he really pushed me to try it. So i borrowed his Shogun: Total War copy since i love Japan history & samurai and i felt quite overwhelming with all the mechanics. While i kinda enjoyed a bit of the build infrastructure, trade, diplomacy, and the battles, in the end this series and RTS in general is just not my cup of tea. But i get it why some people enjoyed it.
@Coffeeglitch "Japan doesn’t care about much for these narrative driven “dad and kid struggling with life”. They want JRPGs, good mechanics, more creativity. They don’t want live services and western action games."
It's the opposite.
1. Japan doesn't care about creative / unique Sony games like Astro Bot, Tearaway, Puppeteer, or Gravity Rush. Go check their sales in Japan and tell me if they even pass 500K copies.
2. Nowadays, a lot if not most JRPG's doesn't sold that well in Japan either. Some examples:
Eiyuden Chronicles only sold 65K copies in the 1st month all Switch, PS4, and PS5 ver combine.
Suikoden 1 & 2 HD only sold 49K copies in the 1st week all version combine.
FF XVI only sold 330K copies in the 1st week.
FF VII Rebirth only sold 262K copies in the 1st week.
Japan doesn't give a damn if it's not Dragon Quest or Pokemon.
3. On the other hand, live service-gacha-waifu games are dominated Japan. From Nikke, Genshin Impact, Monster Strike, Fate GO, Umamusume etc. Even some western games like Minecraft, Fortnite, Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei, Spiderman, COD except Blops 7 did really well.
@Oram77 I don't think people gonna buy LSA either even if it's price at $30-40 at launch, not when it has that level of technical issues.
And the game has been in development for more than a decade with Sony poured a good chunk of money into the project. They've been patience enough to support Yang Bing for that long, from start to finish. If LSA handled by MS or Embracer, i bet they already cancelled the project years ago.
Sony did their job but Yang Bing didn't. He failed to answer Sony's support for him with a good game.
I think i've said multiple times that Japan market is a lost cause for dedicated home console. They wouldn't bother if it's not handheld and with Nintendo logo on it.
But at least Sony tried with this price cut. Now they can focus their marketing with other countries.
@MisterXpoSay I forgot Philippines doesn't have official PSN just like Vietnam and Brunei. I hope you guys got one soon since other SEA countries like Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, and even Laos got PSN.
"just announced and soft launched in the Philippines"
I didn't know baseball is popular in Philippines. The only Asia country that i know who's crazy for baseball is Japan. So this is an odd choice to picked Philippines to soft launch a mobile baseball game...
I've also tried The 1st Descendant, fun for a couple of hours especially the T&A are hilarious. But then the gameplay became less and less fun so i stopped playing.
Not yet try ZZZ or Wuwaves cause i'm not interested with the artstyle and gameplay. But maybe someday i'll try them when i have the mood...
How on earth a news about EA got bought but most comments are talking about immigrants and different culture and religion that has nothing to do with the topic???
@Slayer25c I'm not sure what's the doom and gloom you're talking about here. But that's a bold claim from you to say people shouldn't gaming anymore just because they didn't convinced with this game.
I thought i'm the only one who think the graphics looks rough and less polished than Octo 2 after i played the demo.
I'm just not convinced at all after done with the demo. Feels like the story isn't interesting and then the silent protag which i personally never like.
Not a fan of EA and the only EA games that i played and enjoyed in the last 10 years was Titanfall 2, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, and SW Jedi Fallen Order (not yet played Survivor).
Titanfall and Mirror's Edge are pretty much dead and buried along with Dead Space. And i think i'm fine if i skip Star Wars games.
So for me the Saudi's can do whatever they want with EA.
Yakuza as a series isn't looking the same anymore once Nagoshi left Sega and they cranked up the goofy-wacky stuff from 5 to over 9000 started with Yakuza 8 or i guess Yakuza 7.
The goofy-wacky stuff was used as a temp break from the main story and reserved only for some side quest and mini game. But now it's also bleeding heavily into combat and main story.
@Stepan Big chance PS6 still have disc and BC with PS4 & PS5 disc. Sony wouldn't completely abandon disc when it still provided them with good revenue. Not to mention many countries doesn't have fast internet and still have a big market for physical copy.
@themightyant I agreed with you but i think PS6 will have disc version. The handheld one probably where it needs to buy add on to play disc.
@kuu_nousee I don't know how they gonna do it. That's Cerny / Sony job to figure it out. I mean, if 20+ years ago PS3 can played PS1 and PS2 disc then right now with better hardware & software, i think it's possible for Sony to make PS6 run PS1-PS3 disc.
Cerny did well with PS4, PS5, and Vita but sadly Vita sales was a flop unlike PS4 & PS5. It's a sexy handheld though which i love and still playing it.
My biggest hope; Cerny designed PS6 with BC that can run PS1-PS3 disc. But if not well...i guess i'm still gonna keep my PS3.
This makes me want to contine my playthrough again. I think i stopped at some market or something.
And while some stuff doesn't age well like the early 2000 voice acting and the QTE combo / counter timing are too strict but i think the rest are still good.
@Areus I believe the original devs already disbanded long before Japan studio got closed down. And with Shu already left Sony, there's probably no one in SIE internal who familiar enough with the IP and wants to revive it...
I enjoyed some Hitman although i'm not a fan of the series. So good news for the fans.
But what i realized after last week finished Splinter Cell: Blacklist, these days we don't have a lot of new stealth focus games. It feels like the genre is dying...
Video games is an expensives hobby. Not everyone has the luxury to buy multiple consoles and keep up with the latest games without the need to worry for their financials became red. Especially in current economy where everything became crazy expensives.
And even if you have the money then time is the problem. Finding enough time to just play and finished one game would be hard if you have 9-5 workshift every week.
@Member_the_game Ok now i get it that you only wanted to pointed out the flaws with the headline which you're right.
But like it or not, that's how headline works. If it doesn't look clickbait or bombastic, people wouldn't click or even read the article. Not saying i agreed or support the method. But i understand why many gaming / news media did it since i used to be a freelance contributor for two gaming sites. I rarely used clickbait or bombastic headline and the traffic wasn't good most of the time lol.
@Member_the_game "If the article was specifically about sales for October then that would be fair enough, but it wasn't it was about 2025 as a whole."
Sorry if i sound rude. But the article already mention it's not fair to compare 12 months PS5 with 6 month Switch 2: "Obviously, the PS5 has the advantage of being a more mature piece of hardware, and has been available for the entirety of 2025 where Nintendo’s new console didn’t launch until 5th June."
Hence why they only compare like 1 or 2 months sales specifically october sales: "In fact, in October specifically, Sony’s console registered a 36% increase in sales which saw it assert its position as the best-selling system of the month."
It even thrown a question if this result will stay until the holiday end as well PS advantage with UK market: "Whether it can hold on against the Switch 2 over Christmas remains to be seen. Some readers may note that the UK has always been a more challenging territory for Nintendo, even though it still enjoys plenty of success there."
But the main point with this article never been about "12 months PS5 vs 6 months Switch 2". But how PS5, a 5 years old dedicated home console, still have positive growth and can toe to toe with Switch 2, the newest hybrid console who has better supply, cheaper price, and more hype behind it than PS5. It's nothing deep or even unfair.
Again, i'm sorry if i sound rude but maybe, you should re-read the article from top to bottom to get the full context before posting your comment 🙏

But what i realized after last week finished Splinter Cell: Blacklist, these days we don't have a lot of new stealth focus games. It feels like the genre is dying...
Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's Lacklustre European Sales Continue Trending Downwards
It's crazy how GTA 5 is in the top 10 again. GTA 6 sales will be massives for sure.
Re: Marvel Cosmic Invasion (PS5) - Marvel's Most Fun Beat-'Em-Up in Decades

Re: The Witcher Dev Still Wants to Release Ciri's Whole Trilogy Within Six Years
Why I got the feeling that Witcher 4 launch will be a mess like Cyberpunk 2077.
Re: PS Blog Wants Your PS5 Game of the Year Nominations for 2025
Nice to see NG Ragebound and Shinobi in multiple category. I gave my votes for them as well Yotei, DS 2, Lumines Arise, and Tokon.
Re: PS5 Is Edging Out the Switch 2 in the UK So Far This Year
@Dodoo "why limit yourself?"
Because time and especially money are limited.
Re: PS5 Is Edging Out the Switch 2 in the UK So Far This Year
@Member_the_game Ok now i get it that you only wanted to pointed out the flaws with the headline which you're right.
Re: PS5 Is Edging Out the Switch 2 in the UK So Far This Year
@Member_the_game "If the article was specifically about sales for October then that would be fair enough, but it wasn't it was about 2025 as a whole."
Sorry if i sound rude. But the article already mention it's not fair to compare 12 months PS5 with 6 month Switch 2:
"Obviously, the PS5 has the advantage of being a more mature piece of hardware, and has been available for the entirety of 2025 where Nintendo’s new console didn’t launch until 5th June."
Hence why they only compare like 1 or 2 months sales specifically october sales:
"In fact, in October specifically, Sony’s console registered a 36% increase in sales which saw it assert its position as the best-selling system of the month."
It even thrown a question if this result will stay until the holiday end as well PS advantage with UK market:
"Whether it can hold on against the Switch 2 over Christmas remains to be seen.
Re: Going Platinum #1: Rocket League
I enjoyed Rocket League many moons ago but i never have the motivation to get plat trophy.
I kinda forgot what's my 1st plat, i think Batman: Arkham Asylum?
But this is a nice feature and i hope PushSquare keeps doing it on every week along with Quiz.
