Sony's Sublime Marvel Fighting Game Brings the Unbreakable X-Men to PS5, PC on 6th August 1

The absurdly beautiful Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has a release date: 6th August. It’s also finally got some new characters: the Unbreakable X-Men.

Many of you will know Storm was already part of the roster, but she’ll be joined by Magik, Wolverine, and Danger. Obviously, you’ll be able to mix and match characters as you please, but these four will also work as their own self-contained team.

That’s not all – as previously reported, the game will feature a single player campaign named Episodes Mode.

As detailed on the PS Blog, this will “blend American comics and Japanese manga into a new form of storytelling adapted for a modern video game format”. There’s no word on who’s penning the plot just yet, but it’s apparently a “renowned writer from the original Marvel comics”.

The standard edition will cost $59.99 and will include the game and the following pre-order bonuses:

  • Infinity Gauntlet (Lobby Equipment)
  • Baby Groot (Lobby Pet)
  • Cosmic Surfboard (Lobby Ride)

There’ll also be an $84.99 Digital Deluxe Edition, which bundles all of the above in addition to a Year 1 Character and Stage Pass, featuring four additional characters and one extra stage. You’ll also get the Howard the Duck and Cosmo lobby items.

And finally, there’ll be a $99.99 Ultimate Edition, featuring all of the above in addition to costumes for for Storm, Captain America, Doctor Doom, Iron Man, and Spider-Man. That additional Spidey suit will be based on the Advanced Suit from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
